Vivek Athreya to Direct Ravi Teja’s First Horror Thriller
Talented young Telugu director Vivek Athreya is once again making headlines. According to recent reports, he is working on a horror-based script for Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja. The director recently met the actor to narrate the story, and sources say Ravi Teja was impressed and responded positively. If everything goes as planned, the project could be officially announced soon.
Meanwhile, speculation is rife about the female lead in this upcoming thriller. Earlier, social media buzzed with rumors that Samantha Ruth Prabhu might team up with Ravi Teja. However, recent reports suggest that Samantha may not be part of this film. Instead, the makers are reportedly considering Kollywood actress Priya Bhavani Shankar for the lead role. While there has been no official confirmation yet, Priya is said to be the top choice at this stage.
Earlier reports had indicated that Samantha was in talks for a different Ravi Teja film, expected to be directed by Shiva Nirvana, but there is still no clarity on that project.

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Announces Plans for Next Padayatra
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has clarified his plans to undertake another padayatra, emphasizing that the purpose is to stay close to the people and reconnect with them ahead of the next elections.
Speaking at a meeting at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli, Jagan said the padayatra will begin in about one and a half years, during which he plans to spend a significant amount of time travelling among the public and engaging with them directly.
He also announced that, going forward, he will meet party workers from one Assembly constituency every week. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroots level, especially following the recent electoral defeat.
Highlighting the political timeline, Jagan pointed out that nearly two years of the current government’s term have already passed. With only two more budgets remaining, he noted that the government effectively has around three years left in office, signaling that YSRCP has begun early preparations for the next elections.
YSRCP leaders had earlier indicated that the padayatra could take place around 2027 and potentially continue for nearly two years, keeping Jagan continuously among the people until the elections. Since losing power, the party has largely stayed away from the Assembly and has not played a prominent opposition role, citing suppression of dissenting voices.
Political observers believe that Jagan’s padayatra aims to energize party workers and rebuild public support. However, questions remain about its political impact, especially as Jagan faces corruption-related cases, with opponents eagerly anticipating action against him.
The coming year is expected to be critical for Andhra Pradesh politics, with Jagan’s proposed padayatra likely to draw significant attention and shape party strategy ahead of the elections.
Shahid Kapoor’s ‘O’Romeo’ Trailer Promises Gritty Gangster Drama
Shahid Kapoor reunites with filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj for their upcoming movie, O’Romeo, a gangster drama set in the heart of Mumbai’s criminal underworld with a stylised Western touch. The film’s trailer, released today, has already generated significant curiosity among audiences.
The trailer sets the tone with the gritty streets of Mumbai as its backdrop, introducing Shahid Kapoor as a feared gangster — a violent anti-hero whose reputation precedes him. The story takes a turn when Tripti Dimri crosses paths with him, seeking protection, and eventually gets drawn into a complex and unpredictable relationship with the gangster.
O’Romeo promises a bold and intense cinematic experience, potentially redefining the gangster genre with its Western-inspired narrative style. If successful, it could revive the trend of stylised gangster films; if not, it may invite debate and criticism.

RGV Clarifies Misquotes, Reaffirms Respect for A R Rahman
Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) has sought to put an end to the controversy surrounding his alleged comments on composer A R Rahman and the Oscar-winning song Jai Ho. Addressing the issue after it went viral on social media, RGV took to X to clarify that his statements were misquoted and taken out of context.
“To all concerned, I am being misquoted and misread out of context in the matter of the Jai Ho song. In my view, @arrahman is the greatest composer and the nicest human being I have ever met, and he’s the last person to take away anybody’s credit. I hope this puts an end to the negativism surrounding the issue,” Varma wrote.
The clarification comes after his earlier remarks resurfaced online, triggering fresh debate. In the interview, the maverick director had spoken about Rahman’s working style during the making of Subhash Ghai’s film Yuvraj. Varma had claimed that Rahman was often late to recording sessions, which reportedly frustrated filmmakers. Recalling a specific incident, Varma said Rahman had arrived at the studio straight from the airport while singer Sukhwinder Singh was already present.
According to Varma, Rahman greeted everyone and asked Sukhwinder, in front of Subhash Ghai, whether he had composed the song. When Sukhwinder confirmed and played the track, Rahman reportedly appreciated it and then asked Ghai for his opinion. Varma alleged that this exchange angered Ghai, who reportedly told Rahman that he was being paid a hefty amount for the work and questioned the need for his involvement if the song was already composed.
Rahman, Varma claimed, responded firmly, stating that he was being paid for his name and reputation, and not to be spoken to disrespectfully. He reportedly added that he would compose another song if Ghai was dissatisfied before leaving for Chennai. Varma further mentioned that Sukhwinder later informed him that Rahman had called and asked him to complete the song and email it, bringing the matter to a close.
With this latest clarification, RGV has reiterated his respect for A R Rahman, hoping to end the speculation and negativity surrounding the Jai Ho controversy.
