Jagan Slams AP Government for ‘Backstabbing’ Youth Over Unfulfilled Promises
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday strongly criticised the ruling TDP-led NDA government, accusing it of “backstabbing the youth” by failing to honour key election promises.
Taking to X on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary and National Youth Day, Jagan targeted the state government’s policies and alleged that they have put the future of Andhra Pradesh’s youth at serious risk.
“Swami Vivekananda believed that when youth work with focus and purpose, the nation grows stronger. On National Youth Day, we remember his vision. But is the present state government creating such an environment? Sadly, the condition of Andhra Pradesh’s youth is grim,” Jagan wrote.
Highlighting unfulfilled welfare commitments, the former Chief Minister stated that fee reimbursement for eight quarters is still pending. He further alleged that the government has failed to release ₹4,900 crore under the Vidya Deevena scheme and ₹2,200 crore under Vasathi Deevena.
Jagan also pointed out that the ₹3,000 monthly unemployment allowance, promised in the alliance’s manifesto, has not been paid for the last two years. In addition, he claimed that online certification courses for skill development have been discontinued, further impacting employment opportunities for young people.
“By breaching manifesto promises and betraying the youth, the government has endangered not just their future but the future of the state as well,” Jagan asserted. Calling on the Chandrababu Naidu-led government to course-correct, he urged it to “Arise, Awake, and empower the youth to achieve their goals.”
