Free Run For ‘Samajavaragamana’ This Week Too!
A bunch of interesting flicks got released this weekend too in order to impress the audience. Most of them are made on limited budgets but they failed to get a positive response from the audience. All of them faltered at the box office and the only film which is going strong is ‘Samajavaragamana’ which released last week.
Every week, the movie lovers are treated to new content in theatres or the OTT platforms. If a movie gets positive talk, it will run strongly on big screens for two weeks. If it gets a blockbuster talk, they run for a month. But not many films extended their run to the second week over the past couple of months. The last film to do that is the mystery thriller ‘Virupaksha’. The movie ran with good occupancy for a month and no other film managed to impress the audience in recent weeks. But Sree Vishnu’s ‘Samajavaragamana’ which was released last weekend without any buzz has highly entertained the audience and is bringing the audience into the theatres.
Coming to this weekend’s releases, all of them have disappointed the audience. The most popular film of the lot is Naga Shaurya’s ‘Rangabali’. The promotions through Satya created a lot of buzz. Usually, Shaurya suits well for romantic entertainers with good comedy but ‘Rangabali’ failed to reach the expectations. Keeravani’s younger son Sri Simha’s ‘Bhaag Saale’ was released too. This crime comedy attracted the viewers with its trailer but it is on its way to be a disaster.
‘7:11 PM’ which is a movie made on the time travel concept was appreciated for the idea. Not many makers tried it in Telugu and the only films that come to our mind are ‘Aditya 369′, ’24’ and ‘Oke Oka Jeevitham’. Despite a good effort from the team, the movie did not get a lot of appreciation. Period drama ‘Rudrangi’ featuring Jagapathi Babu, Mamata Mohandas, Vimala Raman and others arriving this weekend as well. Though the performances are good, the movie did not have a universal appeal. Neelakantha’s ‘Circle’ too went unnoticed. It is ‘Samajavaragamana’ who is still enjoying a good run at the box office.
‘Baby’ Team Confident About Their Content Despite Trolls!
Young hero Anand Deverakonda’s upcoming romantic drama ‘Baby’ is arriving on 14th July and there is a decent buzz on this film. Starring Vaishnavi Chaitanya as the female lead, the teaser and songs got a very good response. The trailer dropped recently and it sheds light on the story of this film.
It shows how a middle class girl who is in love with her childhood classmate but things take a turn when she joins college and gets exposed to a whole new world. While the trailer proved that it is going to be a very emotional ride, there are few quickly pointed out how the heroine turned from a dusky skinned girl to fair complexion.
A netizens commented, “Even Fair and lovely changed its name to glow and Lovely after the outrage but we still see movies like #BabyTheMovie doing brown face white face in 2023. This is what happens when you make a YouTube short into a feature film.” A lot of people pointed it out but Anand Deverakonda had a strong reply to them. He said, “Hot take, but mostly an unnecessary / woke take. Maybe you can watch the movie and then comment before jumping the gun.”
Produced by SKN on Mass Movie Makers, the film has situational music by Vijai Bulganin. The cinematography by M N Balreddy is looking natural. Edited by Viplav Nyshadam, the film is co-produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni. Vaishnavi Chaitanya is the heroine in this film while Viraj Ashwin played a key role. The shooting has been completed and the makers are currently busy with the post-production of the film as it is coming out on 14th July.
Everyone’s Focus Is On Jagan Now?
Now everyone’s attention is fixed on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. There is a reason for this. The Union Government is expected to table the Uniform Civil Code(UCC) in the upcoming Parliament sessions. The Monsoon sessions will be started from the 20th and the bill would be discussed. Passing the bill is very prestigious for the Narendra Modi government. Different laws are effective for different religions in some aspects. The Centre is trying to make one law applicable to all religions.
The UCC bill is not a new issue. It is being discussed among the political parties and people for a few years. The politics heated up with the government planning to bring the bill before the Lok Sabha elections. The majority of opposition parties are supporting the UCC bill. The bill would be passed easily in Lok Sabha. But it is a tough task to pass through the Rajya Sabha as the NDA alliance has no required strength.
To discuss the same, UCC Consulting Committee Chairman, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju visited Amaravati and met CM Jagan. It is said that support was sought for the UCC bill. At present there is a big fightback from the Muslim community. However, a few Muslim bodies and parties are opposing this. Muslim bodies and parties opposed the Triple Talaq bill when it was tabled. However, the majority of people and women extended their support for the bill.
Now the Center is thinking that the UCC bill will get support from the Muslim community again. However, there is also a debate on how Muslims in the state would react if the bill is supported. But there is no clarity on whether the bill will be supported or opposed. There is confusion on what would be the stand of Muslims if Jagan supports the bill. This is the case with Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan as well and not just Jagan. As Jagan is in power, everyone’s attention is on him now.

Megastar Chiranjeevi has an exciting lineup of movies ahead. “Bhola Shankar,” directed by Mehr Ramesh, has been completed and is currently in the post-production stage, with dubbing programs underway. Following this, Chiranjeevi will start working on a film directed by Kalyan Krishna Kurasala, which will commence after the release of “Bhola Shankar.”
