Everyone Aiming For The Same Season!
It is without a doubt that Sankranti is the biggest season of movie releases. A lot of big stars arrive with their movies and most of them will end up successful due to high footfalls in theatres during the festive season. Every buyer and producer will be happy during this season and the collections will be record breaking if the talk is positive. Despite the huge competition, a lot of big stars release their movies during this season.
While we saw Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna and Tamil hero Vijay battling it out during the Sankranti season of 2023, the 2024 festive season is going to be even bigger. As we know, superstar Mahesh Babu and Trivikram’s ‘Guntur Kaaram’ will be hitting the screens on 13th January. The expectations are massive on this combination who gave classics like ‘Athadu’ and ‘Khaleja ‘ in the past. It is a full-fledged commercial entertainer and the shooting is underway now. Sreeleela is the heroine while Naga Vamsi is the producer.
Nag Ashwin’s time travelling science fiction movie ‘Project K’ is going to arrive on 12th January 2024. Prabhas is the hero while Deepika Padukone is the heroine. Amitabh and Kamal Hassan are also a part of this film. The movie is going to be a visual wonder and there is a huge hype on this movie. After impressing the audience with his role in ‘Waltair Veerayya’ this season, Ravi Teja is going to impress us with ‘Eagle’ under Karthik Ghattamaneni’s direction next year. It is a thriller movie which is being produced by the People Media factory.
Vijay Deverakonda is also planning to arrive during the Pongal season of 2024. His movie with Parasuram has recently begun and the makers are considering ‘Kutumbarao’ or ‘Family Star’ for the movie. The other film in line is Pawan Kalyan’s ‘OG’. Pawan is going to arrive this year with ‘BRO’ and ‘Hari Hara Veera Mallu’. While some claim that ‘OG’ will arrive this year end, many expect it to arrive during the first month of 2024. It has been revealed that ‘Hanu-Man’ is also going to hit the screens on 12th January 2024. Even Shankar and Kamal’s magnum opus ‘Indian 2’ will arrive on the same time.
Buzz: Spy Girl for Pawan’s OG?
Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s upcoming film, directed by Sujeeth, has already generated a lot of buzz in Tollywood. Titled “OG,” the movie has high expectations among fans, and the makers are putting in their best efforts to complete it on time for a December release this year.
The film boasts an impressive cast, with several prominent names attached to it, which further adds to its appeal. According to reports in the film industry, Iswarya Menon, known for her role in the Telugu-Tamil bilingual film “Love Failure” released in 2012, will be joining the cast of “OG.”
After nearly a decade, Iswarya Menon made her full-fledged debut in Telugu cinema with the recently released film “SPY,” in which she starred alongside Nikhil Siddharth. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Iswarya Menon’s performance managed to capture the attention of filmmakers and create a lasting impression.
Apart from Iswarya Menon, “OG” features a star-studded ensemble including Priyanka Arul Mohan, Sriya Reddy, Prakash Raj, Emraan Hashmi, Arjun Das, and others in pivotal roles. The film is being produced by DVV Danayya under the banner of DVV Entertainments.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the release of “OG,” as Pawan Kalyan’s involvement and the impressive lineup of actors promise an exciting cinematic experience. ‘Hanu-Man’ Arriving On Sankranti Season!
There are a lot of expectations on Prasanth Varma’s superhero flick ‘Hanu-Man’. Featuring Teja Sajja as the hero, this movie has generated a lot of buzz right from the beginning. The teaser won a lot of appreciation and people were very eager to watch this movie on the big screens. The makers who postponed the release in June have now announced that it will be hitting the marquee on 12th January 2024.
The extensive CGI work is the main reason for this delay as the production works are already wrapped up and the post-production is underway. A lot of VFX artists are reportedly working on this movie to give the best output. High-budgeted films require a good season or perfect release date for release so that they will have a strong and long theatrical run. As we know, Sankranti is the perfect season and it gives ample time for the makers to better their product and promote it on a pan-Indian scale.
The release date poster features the protagonist Teja Sajja jumping from one hill to another with a Hanuman flag in his hand. This displays the superpowers possessed by the underdog with the blessings of Lord Hanuman. The Hanuman Chalisa with artwork too was well-received too. ‘Hanu-Man’ will be released in Telugu, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, English, Spanish, Korean, Chinese and Japanese languages.
The movie is set up in an imaginary place called ‘Anjanadri’. How the protagonist gets the powers of Hanuman and fights for Anjanadri seems to be the story of the film. Amritha Aiyer is the leading lady while Vinay Raj is the villain. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar plays a key role in this movie. K Niranjan Reddy of PrimeShow Entertainment is producing the movie while Shivendra is the cinematographer. Music is given by the young trio Gowrahari, Anudeep Dev and Krishna Saurabh. Srinagendhra Tangala is the production designer.
Karunakaran Remembers When ‘Tholi Prema’ Frustrated AB!
It has been 25 years since Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Tholi Prema’ released and it is one of the most iconic love stories made it Tollywood. Interestingly, it was Karunakaran’s first movie as a director. He went onto make movies like ‘Happy’, ‘Darling’, ‘Vasu’, ‘Endukante Premanta’, ‘Ullasanga Utsahanga’ and others. Though some of them were hits, none of them could create the magic ‘Tholi Prema’ did.
Talking about the film on its silver jubilee, Karunakaran revealed an interesting trivia about Amitabh Bachchan being tensed and irritated while looking at the climax of the movie. He said, “The climax of Tholi Prema generates tremendous tension among the audience as the hero refrains from expressing his love until the end. While watching the climax, Amitabh ji became irritated and impulsively tossed his car keys at the TV screen due to the hero’s delayed confession.”
He added, “Jaya Bachchan ji, who was viewing the film alongside him, expressed her delight and applauded when the heroine returned.” Pawan Kalyan’s film which came out in 1998 was dubbed in Tamil as well and it was remade in Kannada as ‘Preethsu Thappenilla’ in 2000 and in Hindi as ‘Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai’ in 2001. As we know, Karunakaran is yet to announce his next movie after a failure like ‘Tej I Love You’.
Amitabh Bachchan is currently working on ‘Project K’ which features Prabhas and Deepika Padukone playing the lead roles. Kamal Hassan is also a part of the film which is being directed by Nag Ashwin. He has a bunch of commitments in Hindi as well. On the other hand, Pawan Kalyan is working on ‘OG’, ‘Bro’ which is releasing on 28th July and ‘Ustaad Bhagat Singh’ simultaneously.
‘Captain Miller’ First Look: Intense & Epic!
Multiple National Award winning hero Dhanush is known for picking up versatile storylines. He currently has ‘Vada Chennai 2’, Sekhar Kammula’s project, the sequel of ‘Yuganiki Okkadu’ and others. But the most interesting film of the lot is ‘Captain Miller’ which is a period film set against the backdrops of the 1930s-40s. Apparently, this is the costliest film in Dhanush’s career.
The movie is presented by T.G. Thyagarajan of Sathya Jyothi Films and produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan. The film is co-produced by G. Saravanan and Sai Siddharth. As announced, the first look poster is out now and it is quite intense and epic. Dhanush is seen standing against a devastated background with soldiers lying dead. The actor surprises in a rugged avatar and is seen holding a gun as the only survivor of the war.
The poster has definitely raised the expectations on the film and the audience are sure that they are going to witness something unique from the talented actor. Legendary superstar Shiva Rajkumar and Sundeep Kishan are playing major roles in this film while Priya Arul Mohan is the heroine.
GV Prakash is the music composer of this movie which will be hitting the big screens in 2023. Madhan Karky who worked for films like the Baahubali franchise, RRR, and Pushpa has penned dialogues for the Tamil version of the movie. Shreyaas Krishna handles cinematography, Nagooran is taking care of editing, wherein T. Ramalingam is the art director. ‘Captain Miller’ will be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

వెటరన్ నటి రాధ…యాక్షన్ కింగ్ అర్జున్ నటులుగా ఎంత ఫేమస్ అయ్యారో చెప్పాల్సిన పనిలేదు. ఇద్దరు తెలుగు వారు కాకపోయినా! టాలీవుడ్ వాళ్లని సొంత భాషా నటుల్లా ఆదరించింది. ఎన్నో సినిమాల్లో నటించి దక్షిణాది పరిశ్రమలో తమకంటూ ప్రత్యేకమైన గుర్తింపును దక్కించుకున్నారు. ఇక మెగా నిర్మాత నాగబాబు నటుడిగా సక్సెస్ కానప్పటికీ మెగాస్టార్ చిరంజీవి సోదరుడిగా…పవన్ కళ్యాణ్ అన్నయ్యగా బాగా ఫేమస్.
నిర్మాతగా పలు సినిమాలు నిర్మించి తన ప్రత్యేకతని చాటుకున్నారు. అలాగే బుల్లి తెర కామెడీ షోలకు హోస్ట్ గాను వ్యవహరించారు. కుమారుడు వరుణ్ తేజ్ హీరో అయిన తర్వాత నాగబాబు ఇంకా ఫేమస్ అయ్యారు.
అయితే వీళ్లందరి కుమార్తెలు మాత్రం పరిశ్రమలో ఆశించిన స్థాయిలో ఇంకా రాణించలేదనే తెలుస్తోంది. రాధ కుమార్తెలు కార్తిక..తులసీ ఇద్దర్ని హీరోయిన్లగా పరిచయం చేసిన సంగతి తెలిసిందే. ‘జోష్’ తో పరిచయమైన కార్తిక కొన్నాళ్లకే సినిమాలకు దూరమైంది.
ఇక చిన్న కుమార్తె తులసి కూడా రెండు సినిమాల తర్వాత ఇండస్ట్రీకి దూరమైంది. అర్జున్ కుమార్తెగా ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చిన ఐశ్వర్య కూడా హీరోయిన్ గా రాణించాలని చాలా ప్రయత్నాలు చేసింది. కన్నడ లో కొన్ని సినిమాల అనంతరం తెలుగులోనూ లాంచ్ చేయాలని ఓ సినిమా చేసారు. కానీ అది మధ్యలోనే ఆగిపోయింది. ప్రస్తుతం ఆ బ్యూటీ ప్రేమ పాఠాలు నేర్చుకుంటుంది. త్వరలో ప్రేమించిన చెలికాడిని పెళ్లి చేసుకుంటుందని తెలుస్తోంది.
కెరీర్ పరంగా ఎలాండి డెవలెప్ మెంట్ లేదు. మెగా డాటర్ గా ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చిన నిహారిక కెరీర్ కూడా నత్తనడకే సాగుతుంది. బుల్లి తెరపై ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చిన నిహారిక అటుపై పెద్ద తెరకు ప్రమోట్ అయింది.
కానీ ఏ దశలోనూ బిజీ కాలేదు. ఆ తర్వాత వివాహ బంధంలోకి అడుగు పెట్టింది. దీంతో నిహారిక కెరీర్ ముగ సిందనుకున్నారంతా. ఈ మధ్యనే మళ్లీ వెబ్ సిరీస్ లు..నటన అంటూ కనిపిస్తుంది. కానీ అనుకున్న రేంజ్ లో ఇంకా సక్సెస్ రాలేదు.
సాయిపల్లవికి గ్యాప్ అందుకేనా?
సాయిపల్లవి అలియాస్ హైబ్రిడ్ పిల్లలో ప్రత్యేకతలు అన్ని ఇన్ని కావు. అమ్మడు ఇండస్ట్రీకి కొన్ని నియమ నిబంధనలతో ఎంట్రీ ఇచ్చింది. సినిమా కమిట్ అవ్వాలంటే? తన పాత్రకు ప్రత్యేకమై ఐడెంటీటీ ఉండాలి. రిలీజ్ తర్వాత ఆ పాత్ర గురించి చెప్పుకోవాలి. మేకర్ ఆ విధంగా స్క్రిప్ట్ లో హీరోయిన్ పాత్రకి ప్రాధాన్యత ఇస్తేనే లాక్ అవుతుంది. లేదంటే నిర్మొహమాటంగా నో చెప్పేస్తుంది. ఇక గ్లామర్ పాత్రలైతే దరిదాపుల్లో కూడా రానివ్వదు. ఎన్ని కోట్లు పారితోషికం ఆఫర్ చేసినా నో వే అనేస్తుంది.
తాను గీసుకున్న గీతకి లోబడే అన్ని ఉండాలంటుంది. గీతని ససేమీరా దాటనని నిర్మొహమాటంగా చెప్పేస్తుంది. ఆరకంగా అవకాశాల పరంగా మిగతా నాయికలతో పొల్చుకుంటే వెనుకబడి ఉందనే విమర్శ ఉంది. తనలో ఆ క్వాలీటీనే అమ్మడి మైలేజ్ ని పెంచుతుందన్నది కొందరి మాట. ఆ రకంగా ఇప్పటివ రకూ పల్లవి క్లీన్ అండ్ గ్రీన్ గా ఉంది. ఆమె చివరి సారిగా గతేడాది `విరాటపర్వం`లో నటించింది. అప్పటి నుంచి కొత్త సినిమా కబురు లేదు.
మరి ఈ గ్యాప్ ఎందుకు వస్తోంది? తాను కావాలని తీసుకుంటుందా? లేక మనసుకు నచ్చిన పాత్రలు లేక ఖాళీగా ఉంటుందా? అంటే ఈ రెండు ప్రధాన కారణాలుగానే విశ్లేషించాలి. `ఫిదా` తర్వాత వరుసగా ఆరేడు సినిమాలు చేసింది. వాటన్నింటిలోనూ అమ్మడి పాత్రకు ప్రాధాన్యత ఉంటుంది. హీరోయిన్ అంటే కేవలం నాలుగు పాటలు..సీన్లకు పరిమితం కాకుండా హీరోకి ధీటుగానే ఆమె పాత్రలు గత చిత్రాల్లో హైలైట్ అయ్యాయి.
వాటిలో కొన్ని సినిమాలు ఫైయిలైనా నటిగా మాత్రం పాస్ అయింది. తొమ్మిదేళ్ల కెరీర్ లో నటిగా ఫైయిలైందని విమర్శలెప్పుడు ఎదుర్కోలేదు. దీన్ని బట్టి సాయిపల్లవి ఎంత సెలక్టివ్ గా ఉంటుందో అర్ధమవుతుంది. అయితే టాలీవుడ్ కమర్శియల్ పంథాలో చూస్తే అలాంటి నటిని మెప్పించే పాత్రలు చాలా అరుదుగానే పుడతాయి. దాదాపు మేకర్స్ అంతా హీరో ఇమేజ్ ని బేస్ చేసుకునే కథలు రాస్తారు తప్ప హీరోల ఆధారంగా రాయరు. ఆ రకంగా సాయి పల్లవికి నచ్చే పాత్రలు రాకపోయి ఉండొచ్చు.
‘Dasara’ Director Aiming For ‘Pushpa’ Hero!
Megastar Chiranjeevi went on a signing spree after spending a lot of time on ‘Sye Raa’. He okayed ‘Acahrya’ with Koratala Siva, ‘Waltair Veerayya’ with Bobby, ‘Bholaa Shankar’ with Meher Ramesh and another project with Venky Kudumula as the director but it was shelved for now. There is a lot of talk regarding his next movies after ‘Bholaa Shankar’.
There were reports that a bunch of young filmmakers approached Megastar with storylines. He lined up a lot of options ahead of him. ‘Bimbisara’ fame Vashishta is trying hard to convince Megastar. Other than him, BVS Ravi, Kalyan Krishna and Prasanna Kumar Bezawada are also trying to impress the ‘Tagore’ hero with their stories. There are rumours which are arriving strongly that Kalyan Krishna of ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ fame is going to direct Chiru’s film but the official news is yet to come out.
Srikanth Odela who scored one of the biggest hits this year with ‘Dasara’ has also planned to work with Chiranjeevi. But with the senior actor being busy, insiders suggest that he is readying a script for Icon Star Allu Arjun. As we know, Bunny is working with Srikanth’s guru Sukumar for ‘Pushpa: The Rule’ and sources claim that he may work with Trivikram Srinivas after that. We need to see what happens with Srikanth Odela now.
‘Dasara’ is a raw action drama set in Singareni coal fields. Nani played the lead role while Keerthy Suresh is the heroine. Shine Tom Chacko played the villain role and it collected over 100 crores which it released in March 2023.
How Did ‘Mamannan’ Turn Out?
Barring ‘PS – 2’, it has been a long time since we witnessed any crazy film from Tamil Nadu. While ‘Viduthalai – 1’ turned out to be both commercial and critical success, there are no other noted releases in recent times. One film which has created a lot of interest right from the posters is ‘Maamannan’. This movie had a very interesting star cast. Due to Udayanidhi Stalin’s lack of market in Telugu, they did not dub it in Ap & Telangana. Keerthy Suresh and Fahadh Fasil played very important roles while legendary comedian Vadivelu played a serious role in this movie. AR Rahman’s music is another asset for this film which released on Friday.
Coming to the story, Maamannan (Vadivelu) is the MLA of Kasipuram. He belongs to the backward section of the community and his son Adiveeran (Udayanidhi Stalin) is a man with a lot of progressive thoughts. Leela (Keerthy Suresh) faces some problems due to Ratnavel (Fahadh Fasil) who is a ruling party leader. Adiveeran and Maamannan decides to bring Ratnavelu down as he is becoming a problem for the society. The political circumstances and unexpected situations form the rest of the story.
Maari Selvaraj who made movies like ‘Pariyerum Perumal’ and ‘Karnan’ has picked up the concept of rich and poor for this film. But the political flavour added to this movie made way for a very routine second half. The character introductions, conflict point, the interval block where Adiveeran faces Ratnavel with bravery worked out pretty well but it is the latter part that is disappointing. There are not many high points in the movie but it is lifted by top-notch performances from Vadivelu and Fahadh Fasil. AR Rahman’s work too deserves a lot of response.
