Ever since Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha walked out of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in September this year and began openly criticising the party, BRS leaders maintained a careful silence, largely because she is the daughter of party president and former Telangana chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).

However, it now appears that BRS leaders have received a green signal from KCR to counter her attacks, especially as Kavitha’s criticism has intensified in recent weeks.

On Tuesday, BRS MLA from Kukatpally, Madhavaram Krishna Rao, created a major political storm when he crossed all limits and referred to Kavitha as a “barking dog.”

His remarks came during a press conference held in response to Kavitha’s recent visit to Kukatpally, where she criticised him and made allegations related to his political conduct.

During the press meet, Krishna Rao used unusually harsh and offensive language against Kavitha and her husband, saying he had “seen many such barking dogs.”
He alleged that both the central and state governments were fully aware of the “irregularities” she had committed and claimed that any formal investigation would expose her “illegal assets and corruption.”

“No one is afraid of you,” he said, further accusing Kavitha of tarnishing the reputation of her father, KCR. He warned:
“If you speak irresponsibly again, we will not remain silent.”

These remarks triggered sharp backlash from Telangana Jagruthi leaders, who condemned Krishna Rao’s comments as defamatory, disrespectful, and misogynistic.

Addressing the media, Jagruthi working president Roop Singh questioned the MLA’s political ethics and demanded an immediate apology to Kavitha.

“If you have even a shred of conscience, withdraw your comments and apologise to Kavithamma garu,” he said.

Roop Singh accused Krishna Rao of frequently switching political loyalties for his own benefit. He also alleged that Rao’s past actions had caused hardship to Telangana students during the statehood movement.

Jagruthi leaders further charged that Krishna Rao had betrayed the TDP and the Nandamuri family in earlier years, pointing to his alleged involvement in the defeat of Nandamuri Harikrishna’s daughter in a previous election. They also claimed he had reached a “secret understanding” with the ruling Congress after BRS lost power and was now “licking the boots of Revanth Reddy.”

“Are you even worthy of talking about Kavitha today?” Roop Singh asked, stating that Telangana society would not tolerate such abusive language.

He added that Telangana Jagruthi had withstood similar attacks in the past and would continue to oppose what they described as deliberate character assassination.
