Dhurandhar Sets Ranveer Singh’s Highest Day 1 Record

Ranveer Singh’s latest release Dhurandhar has made a smashing start at the box office, exceeding expectations and setting a new benchmark in his career for Day 1 collections. The film raked in over ₹27 crore on its opening day, significantly surpassing advance estimates of ₹15–18 crore, and overtaking Saiyaara, which had collected ₹21.50 crore on its first day.
With this performance, Dhurandhar has surpassed Ranveer’s previous top openers, including Padmaavat (₹24 crore) and Simmba (₹20.72 crore). Released on Friday, December 5, the film recorded an all-India occupancy of 33.81% across more than 4,000 shows, with evening shows witnessing a jump to over 55% occupancy.
Delhi NCR led the audience turnout with nearly 40% attendance across 1,371 shows, followed by Mumbai at around 35%, screening the film in 1,024 theatres. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the star-studded cast includes Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, with newcomer Sara Arjun garnering attention for her performance.
Dhurandhar is written, directed, and co-produced by Aditya Dhar under the banners of Jio Studios and B62 Studios, and its powerful opening signals a strong run at the box office.
Akhanda 2 Release Set for December 12

Friday was dominated by intense discussions and negotiations concerning the release of Akhanda 2. While Tollywood’s senior figures worked tirelessly to resolve the crisis, social media was flooded with rumours ranging from “Everything is settled” to claims about court orders and even speculation on how much Balakrishna and Boyapati might be willing to waive to save the film. Amidst the chaos, one thing has become clear: the issue is finally moving toward resolution.
Court proceedings appear to be progressing positively, and there is strong confidence that the situation will be resolved by Tuesday. Most of the dues owed to financiers have reportedly been cleared through various agreements. With the financial side stabilising, the only remaining step is to announce a new release date, which is likely to be December 12.
Industry insiders believe the situation became complicated mainly due to the producers’ negligence. When Hari Hara Veera Mallu faced similar release issues, Pawan Kalyan intervened and brought in people like Nadendla Manohar, Lingamaneni, and Vishwaprasad to quickly sort matters out. If the producers of Akhanda 2 had sought help earlier, the release might have proceeded smoothly. Instead, they underestimated the situation.
On Friday morning, Lokesh reportedly became aware of the situation and immediately stepped in, either directly or through his trusted team. His intervention set the wheels in motion, with a clear plan on who to approach and how to negotiate. Outstanding dues, typically divided into principal amounts and interest, often require adjustments or waivers in crisis situations. Thanks to Lokesh’s involvement, most of these financial issues were resolved by Friday itself.
A last-minute attempt to release the film with Saturday morning shows was not feasible. With the OTT rights held by Netflix, the platform reportedly has no objections to a December 12 release. Releasing on December 19 would clash with Avatar, and a Christmas release would require renegotiation with Netflix. Considering all factors, December 12 remains the most practical and likely release date for Akhanda 2. short title

RGV Breaks Silence on Urmila Relationship Rumours

Ram Gopal Varma has finally broken his silence on the long-standing rumours about his alleged relationship with Urmila Matondkar, calling her one of the most “versatile actresses” he has ever collaborated with. The duo delivered some of the most memorable films of the 1990s and early 2000s, including Rangeela, Daud, Satya, and Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, which cemented their reputation as a successful actor–director pair.
In a recent interaction with Zoom, RGV said, “I think she is the most versatile actress, that is why I worked with her in so many films. I’ve worked with Amitabh Bachchan more, but nobody talks about that.” He further explained that link-up rumours were simply a byproduct of how the industry and social media operate, adding that such speculation is unavoidable when two people collaborate frequently.
During the peak of their association, gossip about RGV’s closeness with Urmila was widespread, with some reports even claiming that the rumours caused tension between him and his then-wife Ratna Varma. In his book Guns & Thighs: The Story of My Life, Ram Gopal Varma dedicated an entire chapter to Urmila, titled “Women in My Life,” where he admitted being struck by her beauty and talent — qualities that inspired him to cast her in Rangeela.
Released on September 8, 1995, Rangeela featured Urmila Matondkar alongside Aamir Khan and Jackie Shroff. The story follows Mili, an aspiring actress whose life transforms when both a superstar and her childhood friend fall in love with her. The film’s soundtrack, composed by A.R. Rahman, delivered timeless hits like “Kya Kare,” “Tanha Tanha,” “Hai Rama,” “Mangta Hai Kya,” and “Pyaar Yeh Jaane Kaise.”
A huge commercial success, Rangeela became the fourth-highest-grossing film of 1995 and remains one of the defining works in both RGV’s and Urmila’s careers.
IndiGo Crisis Sparks Record Surge in Private Jet Demand

As IndiGo’s widespread flight cancellations and delays entered their third consecutive day, the chaos spilled over into India’s private aviation sector, creating an unprecedented surge in demand for charter and business jets. Operators across the country are reporting their highest enquiry volumes in years, with Hyderabad emerging as one of the busiest hubs. Since December 4, stranded passengers — including business professionals, families, and frequent travellers — have been turning to private charters as a last-minute solution. Pune-based Nibe Aeronautics Limited recorded an extraordinary fivefold spike in enquiries within just 48 hours. Sourabh Jangid, the company’s Accountable Manager, said that on a regular day they receive around 10 enquiries, but the number has now reached 50, with Hyderabad alone contributing nearly a quarter. Mumbai and Ahmedabad are also witnessing heavy activity.
Actual charter movements have tripled, with the company now flying 6 to 7 charters a day, amounting to nearly 14 flights, compared to the usual 2 or 3. All three of their aircraft are operating at full capacity, while additional demand is being met through partner operators. Some passengers even booked emergency charters to Ayodhya after commercial flight disruptions threatened to derail their planned ceremonial visit, and medical emergency charter requests have also increased.
Delhi-based Arrow Charters reported a similar pattern, with Managing Director Shailendra Singh stating that even empty-leg flights are being snapped up instantly. Once availability is posted in aviation groups, return flights are booked within minutes. The company has doubled its deployments, using both jets and helicopters to cope with the surge.
The sharp rise in domestic airfares has further pushed travellers toward private charters. Fares on major routes have skyrocketed — Hyderabad to Delhi increased from ₹22,000 to nearly ₹50,000; Delhi to Bengaluru rose from ₹36,000 to over ₹56,000; and Bengaluru to Mumbai touched ₹45,000. A last-minute Air India economy ticket from Hyderabad to Bhopal even crossed ₹1 lakh. Many travellers are now requesting immediate “go-now” departures, with some even willing to pay for two to three hours of ferry time to bring an aircraft from Mumbai just to avoid further delays.
