Andhra Pradesh sees 1,500 new COVID-19 cases, 16 fatalities
VIJAYAWADA: Active coronavirus cases dwindled by 345 to 17,865 in Andhra Pradesh even as the state reported 1,506 fresh positives and 1,835 recoveries on Sunday.
The State also reported 16 more deaths in 24 hours ending 9 AM on Sunday, the latest bulletin said.
The cumulative Covid-19 cases now touched 19,93,697.
The total recoveries increased to 19,62,185 and toll to 13,647, the bulletin added.
East Godavari district reported 319, Chittoor 217, Nellore 181, West Godavari 170, Guntur 162 and Prakasam 102 fresh cases. The remaining seven districts added less than 100 new cases each.
Chittoor and Krishna had four fresh fatalities each, East Godavari and Visakhapatnam two each while Guntur, Srikakulam, Nellore and West Godavari had one each in a day.
The number of active coronavirus cases has fallen below 18,000 after several weeks and as on date, they stand at 17,865. East Godavari district has the highest number of active cases (3,156), followed by Krishna district (2,823), Nellore district (2,650). The least number of active cases were reported from Kurnool. (116)

Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao unveils innovations exhibition, says no need for foreign solutions
RAJANNA-SIRCILLA: IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao launched the annual ‘Intinta Innovator’ virtual exhibition from the Rajanna-Sircilla District Collectorate, in the presence of Collector D Krishna Bhaskar, on Sunday. The exhibition showcased the works of over 100 innovators from 33 districts. They can be viewed at www.teamtsic.telangana.gov.in/intinta-innovator-exhibition-2021/. Principal Secretary (IT) Jayesh Ranjan virtually took part in the launch.
Addressing the event, Rama Rao said the government’s ‘Intinta Innovator’ programme was a testament to the inclusive growth of innovation in Telangana. “People who showcased their innovations at the exhibition reaffirmed that we don’t have to look to foreign countries for solutions. These projects were based on the real problems faced by people across the country,” he said.
Dil Raju deicides not to publish Paagal’s collections
Despite a subdued word of mouth, Vishwak Sen’s Paagal is managing to post up good numbers at the box office. The film is said to have registered a fruitful weekend.
Generally, the makers of mid-range films release collections of posters to publicize that the respective films have garnered a good response from the viewers. However, Dil Raju has decided not to publish Paagal’s collections.
Andhra Pradesh government had imposed restrictions on cinema ticket pricing. Publicizing the film’s collections and boasting about the same can rub the government on the wrong side. Dil Raju is aware of the same and he wants to stay away from trouble and the best way to do that is by avoiding releasing the collections posters.
Paagal is a youthful love drama that stars Vishwak Sen and Nivetha Pethuraj in the lead roles. The film is directed by Naressh Kuppili and it is produced by Dil Raju.
