After staying together for nearly three decades, Bill Gates and Melinda Gates’ couple has surprised everyone by announcing the news of getting divorced. The big announcement was made on social media.

With nearly $146 Billion At Stake, the couple announced parting ways. However, the couple did not announce any details on the financial plans.

According to the listing of Forbes, Bill Gates is currently the fourth-richest person in the world with a net worth of $130.5 billion. His fortunes increased at once owing to the boom of Microsoft.

The Microsoft co-founder and Melinda Gates moved the King Country with a divorce petition. The petition filed on Monday had appeared on a website named TMZ. However, the couple did not reveal any details on the divorce terms.

Washington follows community property laws along with a few other states in the United States state that, the property earned by the couple after the marriage becomes the joint property and the spouses have equal rights on it.

On the other hand, the spouses can give their nod to consider some assets as separate property. The assets that fall under the category belong to only one of the spouses.

All the eyes are on the marriage settlement on how much wealth will Melinda get as part of the divorce.

The last time when Amazon chief Jeff Bezos and his former wife MacKenzie Scott got divorced, she had made it to the list of richest people in the world.

As per the media reports, it depends on the court on how much will it award to the couple. Irrespective of the wealth, Melinda receives, she will emerge as one of the richest people, and Bill Gates’s ranking in the list of richest people will come down.
