Vijaysaireddy responded to Buchayya remarks !!

TDP has faced a huge defeat in the 2019 General elections and even in the recent panchayat and municipal polls. Recently, Gorantla Buchayya Chowdary said that new leadership is coming and the major changes would take place in the Telugu Desam Party soon. He said that everyone including Jr NTR should work for the party.

However, YCP MP Vijaysaireddy responded to the words of Buchayya and criticized TDP chief Chandrababu and Nara Lokesh in the wake of these remarks.

Taking to his Twitter, he tweeted, “What was left in the TDP for the new leaders to arrive?” He alleged that, as NT Ramarao established Telugu Desam Party, Chandrababu grounded it. He asked Buchayya whether it would be possible to tell the party chief directly that if the same situation continues, there will be rifts in the party soon?

Somu Veerraju now takes a dig at Chandrababu

Share

Just last week, BJP AP President, Somu Veerraju took a dig at the ruling YSRCP’s Rajya Sabha MP when the YSRCP said that just simple deposits are not enough to become the CM for a state.

Somu Veerraju now released a video on Chandrababu Naidu, in which Panabaka Lakshmi can be seen talking about Naidu before she joined the TDP. Previously, Panabaka Lakshmi, the TDP’s candidate for the Tirupati by-elections, belonged to the Congress party and worked as an MP, and was also a Union Minister in the UPA government at the Centre.

In the video, she can be seen asking how Chandrababu could enter politics by stabbing his own father-in-law. This is causing a huge debate in the Andhra Pradesh political circle. The BJP is evidently trying to bring down the YSRCP and TDP ahead of the upcoming by-elections.

Lakshmi is the first person to be declared as a candidate from a major political party, for the Scheduled Castes-reserved for the Tirupati Lok Sabha by-polls on April 17.

Pakistan PM Imran Khan replaces lawyer for fourth time in Shahbaz Sharif’s defamation case against him

Share

LAHORE: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has replaced his lawyer for the fourth time in a defamation case filed against him by PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif, which has been pending for the last four years.

Prime Minister Khan has engaged his party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Senator Syed Ali Zafar as his new counsel to defend him in the case.

Zafar’s associate appeared before the District and Sessions Court Lahore on Monday and filed his power of attorney on behalf of the premier.

Additional District & Sessions Judge Yasir Hayat directed Zafar to personally submit his power of attorney on the next hearing on April 6.

The court also asked him to submit replies to the case. It was the 46th hearing of the case. In the last 45 hearings, Khan’s lawyer sought adjournment on 38 occasions. The court adjourned the hearing till April 6.

On the previous hearing, Khan’s counsel had given an undertaking in writing that on the next hearing, arguments would be advanced and no further adjournment would be sought.

According to the case, “Imran Khan made a false and malicious allegation against Shahbaz Sharif that the latter offered PKR 10bn (USD 61 million) to the former through a common friend in exchange of withdrawing the Panama Papers case in the Supreme Court against the 70-year-old former prime minister and his elder brother Nawaz Sharif (in 2017).”

Sharif, who is currently in London for treatment, is the supremo of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

He was disqualified as prime minister in 2017 by the Supreme Court in 2017 in the Panama Papers case.

Three corruption cases – Avenfield properties, Flagship Investment and Al-Azizia steel mills – were registered against the Sharif family by the anti-graft body in 2017 following a judgment by the Supreme Court that disqualified him and subsequently he was jailed for seven years in the Al-Azizia mills corruption case.

He was granted bail in this case in November 2019 by the Lahore High Court on medical grounds.

Khan, however, did not name the person who offered him the money on behalf of Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Shahbaz.

Shahbaz, in the case, had asked Khan to tender a proper apology within 14 days through the print and electronic media.

“However, Imran Khan failed to make an apology and the plaintiff (was) left with no option but to approach the court for recovery of damages,” it said.

The suit pleads that the baseless and defamatory statements by the defendant, widely circulated by the media, lowered Shahbaz’s integrity and caused him extreme mental torture, agony and anxiety.

The court has been requested to issue a decree for recovery of PKR 10 billion as compensation for the publication of defamatory content.

US President Joe Biden announces diverse first slate of judicial nominees

Share

WASHINGTON: President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced his intent to nominate a “trailblazing slate” of judicial nominees, a field that includes Black, Muslim American and Asian American Pacific Islander candidates for federal courts and for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

The White House said the 11 nominees are attorneys who have excelled in the legal field in a range of positions, including as jurists, public defenders, prosecutors and public servants, as well as in the private sector and in the military.

“This trailblazing slate of nominees draws from the very best and brightest minds of the American legal profession,” Biden said in a statement. “Each is deeply qualified and prepared to deliver justice faithfully under our Constitution and impartially to the American people — and together they represent the broad diversity of background, experience, and perspective that makes our nation strong.”

The White House said Biden’s judicial choices reflect his deeply held belief that the federal courts should reflect the “full diversity of the American people” in background and professional experience.

Former President Donald Trump leaned heavily on white men to fill judicial vacancies.

Biden’s group includes three Black women tapped for Circuit Court vacancies, as well as candidates who, if confirmed, would be the first Muslim American federal judge in U.S. history, the first AAPI woman to ever serve on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and the first woman of color to ever serve as a federal judge for the District of Maryland.

The nominees are:

President Barack Obama had considered Jackson for the U.S. Supreme Court in 2016. Biden has promised to nominate a Black woman for the high court if he has the opportunity to do so.

— Tiffany Cunningham, for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Cunningham, who is Black, has been a partner at Perkins Coie LLP in Chicago since 2014. Jackson-Akiwumi, who is Black, is a partner at Zuckerman Spaeder, LLP in Washington, where she focuses on complex civil litigation, white-collar criminal defense and investigations. From 2010 to 2020, Jackson-Akiwumi worked as a staff attorney at the Federal Defender Program in the Northern District of Illinois.

— Judge Deborah Boardman, for the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Boardman is a U.S. magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, a position she was appointed to in 2019. She was previously a federal public defender.

— Judge Lydia Griggsby, for the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Griggsby, who is Black, has served as a judge on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims since 2014. Before that, Griggsby was chief counsel for privacy and information policy and privacy counsel for Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt.

— Julien Neals, for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Neals, who is Black, is county counsel for the acting county administrator for Bergen County, New Jersey. He became county counsel in January 2015 and has served in an acting capacity since June 2016.

— Judge Florence Y. Pan, for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Pan, who is AAPI, has been an associate judge on the Superior Court for the District of Columbia since 2009.

— Judge Zahid N. Quraishi, for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. Quraishi, who is Muslim and of Pakistani ancestry, is a U.S. magistrate judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, a position he was appointed to in 2019. Before that, he was a partner at Riker Danzig, where he chaired the firm’s white-collar criminal defense and investigations.

— Regina Rodriguez, for the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. Rodriguez has been a partner at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP in Denver since 2019, handling cases involving complex litigation and government investigations.

— Margaret Strickland, nominee for the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico. Strickland has been a partner at McGraw & Strickland LLC in Las Cruces, New Mexico, since 2011, representing clients in civil rights cases and criminal cases in state and federal courts in New Mexico.

— Judge Rupa Ranga Puttagunta, for Superior Court of the District of Columbia. Puttagunta serves as an administrative judge for the D.C. Rental Housing Commission. Before joining the commission, she was a solo practitioner from 2013 to 2019, representing indigent criminal defendants in trial and on appeal.
