Prof K Nageshwar: YS Jagan Govt Drawing Itself Into Constitutional Row
Yet again, the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy led government in Andhra Pradesh faced a rebuff in Supreme court as the apex court dismissed its plea on Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar case.
The Andhra Pradesh High court in Para 318 of its verdict clearly directed the State to restore Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar as the State Election commissioner and allow him to continue in his office till he completes his tenure.
But, the Andhra Pradesh government refuses to yield, giving different interpretation to the court verdict and citing the fact the High Court judgment stands challenged in Supreme Court.
Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar aggrieved by the recalcitrant attitude of the state government moved a contempt petition in High Court praying for the implementation of the court’s order. The High Court is seized of the matter and meanwhile instructed the petitioner to meet Governor.
Even Governor has written to state government asking for necessary action as per the court orders. Still not satisfied, the state government appealed to the supreme Court praying for its intervention to stay the contempt proceedings in the lower court. The apex court reportedly rejected state government’s plea and believed to have made serious adverse comments on state government’s action or rather inaction.
Firstly, the state government can appeal in Supreme Court on contempt proceeding before the lower court. The argument that Jagan government lacks legal sense in doing so is nothing but ignorance of law and the Constitutional proceeding.
The article 129 and article 215 of constitution empower these Constitutional court called Courts of record to punish someone for contempt of court. Various judgments have amply made it clear what actions or inactions constitute contempt of Court under the constitutional scheme of things
In Vinay Chandra Mishra case, 1995, the apex court stated that it can hear a matter pertaining to contempt of High courts as it is the appellate court and a higher court. Therefore, Jagan government moving the apex court to stall contempt proceedings in high Court is not out of law.
While dismissing the state government’s plea to stall the contempt proceedings in the Higher Court, the apex court reportedly reiterated that it has not given stay on High court verdict restoring the office of Ramesh Kumar.
Non compliance of court orders will only weaken the authority of the court and undermine the public confidence in courts and amount to Contempt court as opined by the Supreme Court in EMS Namboodirpad versus T N Nambiar in 1970. Similarly, as per the apex court judgment in Narmada Bachao Andolan, 1999, any misrepresentation or wrong or incomplete interpretation of court orders also tantamount to contempt of court.
The YS Jagan government is unnecessarily inflicting on itself constitutional contempt that does not in any way further its political esteem.

Interview: Pawan Kalyan – I am lucky to have an army that supports me at all times
How are you planning to further develop and expand your party?
I want to develop a party that transcends all barriers and helps the people as one. Jana Sena is a party that will forever be growing because I feel that growing is a never ending process. To be able to establish a strong, powerful party that does good to the people without any caste feelings or others, I think we need young leaders to be a part of our paty.
The Modi government gave a 10% reservation to all the economically backward section people. In the state, the TDP government had given the BCs 5% reservation, but the YSRCP government has now removed all sorts of reservations for them. What’s your opinion on this?
The introduction of EBC reservation was a great step by the Central government because there are thousands of people who belong to the forward classes like Brahmins, and yet do not have the necessary financial means. The Central government gave the decision to state governments about this reservation because only the state government can know which section is more backward in their state. That was why the TDP government gave 5% reservation to BCs. Now that the YSRCP has removed all of that, I think they should check their decision based on the facts of the state.
How should we look at the Atma Nirbhar package announced by PM Modi?
The entire country went into a huge financial crunch because of the Coronavirus lockdown. Looking at the state in the country, it was a wonderful gesture by the PM to announce such a huge package. All the state governments should look at it objectively and use it properly ro develop their respective states, instead of eyeing the money for their benefits.
People have criticised the way the PM has responded to the attacks at Galwan valley. What’s your say on that?
Right from, I have always believed that Narendra Modi is a strong leader who is capable of standing through anything and any decision he has taken. That is the main reason why I had chosen to support him. When the parliament was attacked all those years ago, I felt bad that there wasn’t a strong system at the center, but when Modi became the PM, I felt a little relieved. I think he responded appropriately and is doing what needs to be done.
Handloom workers, construction workers and goldsmiths are being affected the worst during this time. What’s your opinion on that?
The government should do everything in their power to make sure that situations are better for all of these people. The government should make sure that these people get some work to do, because the handloom workers are especially requesting that. They have been requesting for the longest time for employment opportunities, and I think that it is the minimum responsibility of the government to do that. Coming to construction workers, the situation was bad before because of the sand mafia, and it has now gotten worse for them, because of coronavirus. If the YSRCP government doesn’t take proper care about the sand mafia, then I think it’s useless. Goldsmiths also should be given more employment opportunity, with the corporate sectors having occupied that territory as well.
When will the shooting of your upcoming films resume?
I don’t think that any shootings will resume anytime soon, not just my film, but any other main films either. I don’t think it’s really possible to get back to shooting like we did previously, until there’s a proper vaccine in the world.
Jana Sena members have been doing a lot of sical work during this time. What’s your opinion on that?
I think it’s wonderful to see that there are so many people who still care about the people, irrespective of winning or losing the elections. I felt really happy when people from all around the world sent in provisions and other necessary goods during these testing times. I think it is my luck to be able to serve the people through the army that I have, who always support me.
Watch: Pawan At Nithiin’s Pre-Wedding Event
In a few more hours, hero Nithiin will be tying knot with Shalini Kandukuri in a low key ceremony in Hyderabad. Last evening Nithiin was made ‘Pelli Koduku’ and a few celebrities have paid a formal visit on this occasion.
Nithiin’s favourite hero Powerstar Pawan Kalyan had graced this event along with director Trivikram and producer Radha Krishna (China Babu) of Haarika & Hassine Creations banner. An excited Nithiin thanked Pawan, Trivikram and the producer for making it to the event and blessing him.
But just a photo was shared by Nithiin and now we have the visuals of Pawan Kalyan walking out of Nithiin’s residence in Hyderabad post the event. Like in the picture shared by Nithiin, Pawan is seen in typical cotton kurta and lungi and wrapping himself up with a shawl.
Many say that Nithiin wasn’t expecting Pawan’s personal presence but then Powerstar surprised everyone over there. Obviously Nithiin was super happy this sudden visit and he could not have been much happier.
KCR Forgot His Promise For Farmers?
On May 29, after inaugurating the Konda Pochamma reservoir in Siddipet district, the chief minister told the reporters that the new scheme for farmers would be announced within a week.
He did not disclose any details of the scheme, but said he wanted to keep it as a suspense.
“The groundwork for implementing the scheme is underway. It will be a surprise for the country and would be a role model for the other states, as was the case with Rythu Bandhu,” he declared.
But even after two months, there has been no such announcement from the chief minister.
“Where is the good news he talked about at the time of inauguration of Konda Pochamma reservoir? The chief minister boasted that he would make the entire world look up to Telangana with awe. What happened now?” Congress MP from Bhongir Komatireddy Venkat Reddy asked.
He said by the grace of god, there are good rains this monsoon and the farmers are happily into cultivation.
“They are still waiting what good news the chief minister will announce. At least now, please come out with your scheme and help the farmers,” Reddy told the chief minister.
The Congress MP wondered whether this was also one of those fake promises made by KCR in the past like making of a Dalit as the chief minister, completion of double bedroom houses, distribution of three acres of land to Dalits and Adivasis and waiver of Rs 1 lakh crop loans at one go.
“If you make a promise as the chief minister, you should fulfil them. Why do you conveniently forget your own promise? Is it yet another bogus scheme?” Komatireddy asked.
Allu Arjun showing his generous side to close friends
This was proven multiple times in the past as Allu Arjun’s uncle Venkateswara Rao co-produced his super hit film ‘Race Gurram’.
Also, Naga Babu co-produced Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India.
As for Allu Arjun’s upcoming film ‘Pushpa’, his uncles, who own Muthamsetty Media are partnering with Mythri Movie Makers to produce the film.
Continuing the trend, Allu Arjun is showing his generous side again by lending a helping hand to 3 of his classmates and close friends who reside in Chennai.
He has provided them with the opportunity to co-produce his next project which will will have Koratala Siva at the helm.
Allu Arjun’s friends will be given a share in the production on behalf of GA 2 productions. More details about the collaboration will be announced in the days to come.
Coincidentally, even Koratala Siva is following a similar path as his friend, Sudhakar who runs Matinee Entertainments will co-produce the former’s next with Allu Arjun.
Allu Arjun-Koratala Siva project is expected to start rolling after the duo complete their current projects, ‘Pushpa’ and ‘Acharya’ respectively.
GA 2 Productions and Matinee Entertainments will jointly bankroll the film.
Power Star Review: Just A 37 Minute Spoof
Ram Gopal Varma’s “Powerstar” is neither a political satire nor a feature film. At the best, it can be termed as a smear campaign against a person that he wants to settle a score with.
The disclaimer that says the film has no resemblance to the living person is a gimmick that falls flat.
Just changing an alphabet in the names of the real persons is enough to escape the legal tangle?
Coming to this web movie, it doesn’t have a script to talk about. Like his previous films, RGV has not added anything beyond what trailers and song of “Powerstar” had shown.
What this web movie offers is an extension of the sequences we have already seen in the trailer and promotional songs.
The scene order goes like this….
– Result day: Prawan Kalyan breaking his TV in frustration
– Conversation with a top director who has written his election speeches and slapping him.
– His elder brother admonishing him and advising him to leave politics and follow his path of returning to movies.
– Kathi Mahesh interviewing him
– Gaddi Tintaaava song
– Conversation with his Russian wife
– Gundla Ramesh episode
– Chinna Annaya’s phone conversation
– Meeting with Chandrababu
– RGV’s entry and his lengthy philosophical gibberish.
With 10 scenes, he made this web movie, with no coherence, no connection to the main point. All these were present in the trailers as well.
The web movie offers two or three lines extra to each sequence that was already shown in the trailer.
It is more like a cheaply made spoof on the political scenes. When news channels are producing better satirical episodes, Ram Gopal Varma has come up with this, which lacks the punch.
In the end, RGV says, “Nijanni Vetukovatanniki Abaddam eppudu vadakudadu…Deeni artham nakkooda telidu.”
Neither we understand what he’s trying to say at the end of the movie. It seems that he wanted to explain all this year’s tweets he made against Pawan Kalyan and blaming Gaju Teja for the star’s political debacle. Sounds silly!
Bottom-line: Power-less
When Shruti Haasan drove a truck
Shruti had to take the wheel of a truck for a scene in her upcoming digital film, “Yaara”, and what followed was just funny, she says.
“Not many people might be aware, but I am not a great driver,” she opened up, and then went on to recall: “The stunt team was helpful and one of the members hid besides me to shift clutch and gear. I truly bless him as it was not an easy job at all. It was truly funny — me trying to drive a truck on a mountain road, and to drive a truck on the mountainous roads of Uttarakhand was a tough task.”
“Yaara” features Shruti with Vidyut Jammwal, Amit Sadh, Vijay Varma, Kenny Basumatary and Sanjay Mishra, and is slated to open on Friendship Day, July 30, on Zee5. The Tigmanshu Dhulia directorial is a Bollywood remake of the French film “Gang Story”.
Disappointment For Chiranjeevi’s Daughter
She has initiated to make films on the banner of Gold Box Entertainment. She launched a web series to start with on the hands of her mother Surekha recently.
The web series is being canned by “Oye” fame Anand Ranga. Praksha Raj is portraying the lead role in the series. But suddenly, there is a jolt for the shooting. It was stopped abruptly. The reason is nothing but Coronavirus.
Despite taking so many measures, a team member is caught with the virus. Sushmitha ensured everyone among the crew got tested. The results are awaiting and everybody is in home isolation for the next 14 days.
Sushmitha seems to be disappointed by this unexpected break due to Coronavirus. There are many shootings that are being halted all of a sudden due to Coronavirus. Now Sushmitha’s web series also joins the list.
Prakash Raj & Sai Pallavi In Mega Web Series?
Looks like the lockdown period forced due to pandemic has forced audiences to like the content on streaming platforms and that’s how many actors are slowly showing interest in being part of web series. Amazon Prime Video and Netflix are the two OTT giants which is making a lot of digital content now.
Recently, it is announced that Prakash Raj has collaborated with director Anand Ranga and Sushmita Konidela for a web series. This project will go on floors soon or as soon as things fall back in normalcy.
As per the latest buzz actress Sai Pallavi and Prakash Raj are have teamed up for a web series which is said to be directed by none other than popular director Vetrimaaran. Yes. You are right. This is going to be a Tamil web series which will be produced by Netflix.
Also, it is said that the concept of the series is going to be honour killing. So it could be that Sai Pallavi and Prakash Raj might be playing a father and daughter duo in this series.
This series is going to be a part of the Navarasa series which will be produced by Netflix.
