Inside Story: DSP’s ‘No remuneration’ policy for Sukumar’s films
Devi Sri Prasad and Sukumar have proven to be one of the most successful combinations when it comes to delivering chart-buster albums. Infact, Sukumar has never worked with any music director other than Devi Sri Prasad till date and that speaks volumes about their professional relationship.
Devi Sri Prasad usually takes around Rs 2-3 crores remuneration depending on the scale of the project. But, he changes the business model while working on films that are produced by Sukumar.
We came to know that the star music composer follows a ‘No remuneration’ policy for films that are bankrolled under Sukumar writings banner. Instead, he takes a share in the box office collection of the project that he and Sukumar are associated with. Devi and Sukumar have been following this model since the latter’s production, ‘Kumari 21F’. This seems to have proven profitable for both the parties.
It is learnt that Devi Sri Prasad and Sukumar are following the same model for ‘Uppena’ as well. The audio album has been receiving a good response and especially, ‘Nee Kallu Neeli Samudhram’ has become a raging hit.
Devi Sri Prasad and Sukumar will be joining hands again for Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’ which will start rolling once the impact of coronavirus pandemic is nullified.
After Ayyappanum Koshiyum, Sithara to remake another super hit
Noted Telugu production house, Sithara Entertainment has already started working on the remake of Malayalam super hit, ‘Ayyapanum Koshiyum’. Rana and Ravi Teja will be playing the lead roles and Sagar Chandra will wield the megaphone.
If the latest reports are to go by, Sithara Entertainment, run by Naga Vamsi Suryadevara has bagged the remake rights of another highly appreciated Malayalam film ‘Kappela’.
‘Kappela’ was released on Netflix very recently and the film got a great reception from digital audiences. It is being lapped up by netizens, thanks to the sensible content and a befitting social message.
Sithara Entertainment will soon be working on the Telugu remake of ‘Kappela’. But unlike ‘Ayyapanum Koshiyum’, which has a strong commerical value, ‘Kappela’ is a realistic drama which banks mainly on the plotline.
‘Kappela’ is the story of a young couple who fall in love over phone conversations and their struggles after a dreadful encounter with a stranger. The film was directed by Musthafa and it has Anna Ben, Sreenath Bhasi, and Roshan Mathew in prominent roles.
Exclusive: Once a star director, now taking 1 lakh salary
Once a star director, Sreenu Vaitla is completely out of form now. Almost all of his recent attempts like Amar Akbar Anthony, Bruce Lee, and Mister, turned out to be duds at the box office.
For his upcoming film Dhee 2, the sequel of super hit comedy caper Dhee, Sreenu Vaitla is working with Manchu Vishnu. ATV Entertainments will be bankrolling this project.
While in top form, Sreenu Vaitla used to charge somewhere around Rs 7-8 crores per film, but that is not the case now.
As per reports, Sreenu Vaitla is receiving a monthly salary of Rs 1 lakh for this film. Same was the case with his previous film, Amar Akbar Anthony as well. Mythri Movie Makers reportedly paid him Rs 2-3 lakhs per month.
Given Sreenu’s poor run of form, not many production houses are willing to offer him a hefty remuneration or advance. So, he agreed to work on Dhee 2 on monthly salay basis. He had already started working on the script.
Sreenu Vaitla was next to none when it comes to churning out comedy films while in his prime and we need to see if he will get back to winning ways with Dhee 2.
Exclusive: Allu Arjun rejects sensible filmmaker.!!
As we had reported earlier, back in 2018, a young writer named Satish narrated a story to Dil Raju and he was impressed with it. The star producer approached Allu Arjun and even he gave the nod. Dil Raju felt sensible director Mohankrishna Indraganti would be the right person to handle the project which had a political touch to it and talks were held in this regard. But for some reason, the film never took off and Allu Arjun went ahead with his prior commitments.
Now, Dil Raju is bowled over by Mohankrishna Indraganti’s ‘V’ and signed him up for another film which is said to have Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. An official announcement on the project will be made in the days to come.
Going into the story, Mohankrishna Indraganti apparently narrated another subject to Dil Raju and the latter liked it. The ace producer asked Allu Arjun if he would be willing to star in the film. But the mega hero rejected the offer.
Reportedly, Allu Arjun feels that Mohankrishna is a sensible filmmaker and working with him at this point in his career is not the right move. He is in mood to take any risks as of now.
Allu Arjun is one of the biggest stars in the South Indian film industry and has an immense mass appeal. He will be acting under Sukumar’s direction for ‘Pushpa’ next. The stylish actor is said to be interested in acting in pan-India projects in the near future.
Bhumika Chawla Can’t Get Over Sushant’s Death
Actor Bhumika Chawla, who shared screen with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in the film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, shared a touching note on Sushant’s untimely death on Friday. Bhumika had played Sushant’s onscreen sister in the Neeraj Pandey film.
She wrote how she still wonders what actually happened: “It’s been almost 20 days … and I wake up thinking of you. Still wondering what it was … one only shared the screen space as a character briefly but still associated together.”
Unsure it was indeed depression, she wondered if it was about some personal issue or professional wrangle, she continued: “ …. Was it depression – personal — then you should have spoken …. If it was professional – you had already done such good films ..”
Bhumika agreed that survival was never easy in the film industry. She said: “YES I AGREE it’s not easy to survive here — I am not talking of insider or outsiders — IT IS WHAT IT IS — yes if I have to connect with someone even after having done 50 plus films it ain’t easy — but I am still grateful I am doing work — maybe I just choose to work on this perspective — constantly pushing myself to think and believe good .. Yes there are times when you call or message people from the industry ( Bollywood or other places ) most people are really WARM and KIND but we do find those who refuse to acknowledge or just brush you aside — THE WORLD IS MADE OF ALL SORTS …”

By-Elections To Narasapuram Soon!
YSR Congress party MP from Rajampet P Mithun Reddy on Friday went to the extent of saying that the by-elections to Narasapuram parliamentary seat were going to take place shortly as it is going to fall vacant following the disqualification of Raghurama Krishnam Raju.
“The Speaker appeared to be very convinced about our petition. He said he would take action on it soon,” he said.
Mithun Reddy said Raju had not given proper reply to the show-cause notice served on him.
“Jagan has given him a lot of importance in the party. Though there were senior MPs in the party, he made Raju a member in the parliamentary standing committee. He has misused the freedom and value given by the party,” Reddy said.
YSRC parliamentary party leader V Vijay Sai Reddy said evidences were produced as to how Raghurama Krishnan Raju had abused the party leaders in filthy language.
“He joined hands with the opposition parties and questioned the policies of the government. He has been talking against the party for his political gains,” Sai Reddy said.
Meanwhile, Raju filed a petition in the state high court seeking to stall the attempts of the YSRC to disqualify him from the Lok Sabha membership and suspend him from the party.
He claimed that he had not resorted to any anti-party activities.
“I only pointed out that I received the show-cause notice on YSR Congress party letterhead from party general secretary, rather than the disciplinary committee,” he said.
Raju said his party’s name as per the EC records was Yuvaja Shramik Rythu Congress party and that he had brought it to the notice of the Election Commission.
“Till there is a clarification from the EC, I request the court to stall my suspension from the party as well as any action on my disqualification,” Raju appealed in his petition to the high court.
Hectic Lobbying Ahead Of AP Cabinet Expansion?
Very recently YSRCP leaders Pilli Subhash Chandrabose and Mopidevi Venkataramana have quit AP CM YS Jagan’s cabinet as they got elected to Rajya Sabha last month. With that there is a vacancy for two places and in no time, YSRCP leaders started lobbying to get minister posts.
But the YSRCP high command so far did not make any comments on cabinet expansion nor discuss it with party leaders. From the highly placed sources we hear that YSRCP biggies have suggested Jagan to go for cabinet expansion after July 21st. The month of ‘Aashadam’ will conclude on July 20th and after that the dates are good enough to expand the cabinet.
Further we hear that Jagan is in thoughts to give cabinet berths to BC community leaders as both Pilli and Mopidevi represent the same community. This will also make sure that Jagan maintains a balance of all communities in his cabinet.
But for now, there is no clue about who would get the opportunity. As Jagan is in thoughts to give chance to BC community leaders, hectic lobbying and consultations may take place before the date is decided to go for expansion.
Tollywood Producer Dies Of Covid-19
In a huge shocking news to the Telugu film industry, producer Pokuri Rama Rao has passed away due to the global pandemic Covid-19. A while back we have heard reports about a Tollywood producer testing positive of Corona but the name wasn’t revealed then.
The producer Rama Rao died last evening and the cremation is expected to take place on Saturday. Rama Rao is the brother of popular producer Pokuri Babu Rao who owns Eetharam Films banner which has produced many successful films with Gopichand like ‘Yagnam’ and ‘Ranam.’
Learning about Rama Rao’s death, many Tollywood celebrities have expressed their deep sympathies to their family members. However, celebs may not attend the funeral considering the spread of infection.
Former AP minister arrested for YSRCP leader’s murder
Ravindra was arrested in Tuni in East Godavari district when he was heading towards Visakhapatnam. A police team from Krishna district stopped the TDP leader and arrested him. He was being brought to Vijayawada.
The former minister has been arrested in connection with the murder of M. Bhaskar Rao, a close associate of Transport Minister Perni Venkataramaiah.
The former Machilipatnam market yard chairman was stabbed to death by four unidentified persons in broad daylight in the fish market in Machilipatnam on June 29.
On a complaint by the slain leader’s family, police had registered a case against Kollu Ravindra.
Alleging that Ravindra is the mastermind behind the criminal conspiracy, Bhaskar Rao’s widow had demanded his immediate arrest.
The police have already arrested three persons in connection with the murder case.
Meanwhile, TDP president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has condemned Ravindra’s arrest. He said that arresting him without even preliminary investigation is an act of vendetta politics by YSR Congress.
He said the state did not see these many atrocities even during the emergency. “Never before were leaders booked in so many wrongful cases or the opposition targeted to this extent until now. It was unprecedented that so many leaders are being put in jail like this,a he said.
The leader of opposition alleged that YSRCP adopted a vengeful attitude towards backward classes with wrongful cases being filed against Atchannaidu, Ayyannapatrudu, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, and Kollu Ravindra being the examples.
Naidu called Ravindra’s family members and gave an assurance that he and the party will stand by them.
