Of late, Andhra Jyothy Managing Director Vemuri Radhakrishna has been penning a series of hard-hitting columns in his popular Sunday feature Toli Paluku, targeting the Congress leadership — particularly Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the party high command. Known for his sharp political analysis, Radhakrishna once again focused this week on the growing turbulence within the Telangana Congress.

In his latest piece, Radhakrishna highlighted how Revanth Reddy is finding it increasingly difficult to keep his cabinet and party leaders united. According to him, factionalism and indiscipline have become major hurdles for the Chief Minister, who is not being given enough autonomy by the Congress high command to manage state affairs effectively — a freedom that the late Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy once enjoyed.

Citing recent developments, Radhakrishna revealed that Revanth expressed serious displeasure in a recent cabinet meeting. He reportedly reprimanded his ministers for failing to defend the government from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS)’s relentless criticism. For over an hour, Revanth is said to have questioned why his ministers had remained silent while opposition leaders launched personal and political attacks on the government. “When the ship sinks, everyone goes down with it,” he warned, reminding them that collective silence could cost them power.

Adding to his woes, a section of the media — allegedly fed by BRS insiders — recently reported that AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and general secretary K. C. Venugopal were unhappy with Revanth’s leadership. The Congress high command neither denied nor clarified these reports, while state leaders too stayed quiet, leading to speculation that Delhi’s support for Revanth was waning.

Radhakrishna cautioned that this silence from the high command and lack of coordination among state ministers could further destabilize the party. He also pointed out that Revanth’s recent decision on BC reservations, which was reportedly made without thorough legal consultation, backfired — giving the opposition more ammunition to attack the government.

Despite mounting criticism, insiders admit that Revanth Reddy remains the Congress’s only strong face in Telangana. “If Revanth goes, the government could collapse,” a senior party leader was quoted as saying, urging the high command to stand firmly behind him.

Political analysts echo the sentiment, warning that unless the AICC steps in decisively to restore discipline and unity within the party, the Congress risks losing the political ground it regained less than a year ago. As one strategist put it, “If this drift continues, Telangana could slip back into KCR’s hands sooner than expected.”
