Anushka Shetty’s Ghaati Set for September Release

Share

Anushka Shetty, fresh off the success of Miss Shetty Mr Polishetty, is all set to star in a female-centric action drama titled Ghaati. The film, directed by Krish Jagarlamudi and produced by First Frame Entertainments with UV Creations presenting, is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 5th. The promotional materials have already created high anticipation among audiences.

Producer Rajeev Reddy revealed that the initial concept aimed to craft a commercial action film centered on a strong female lead. “After Karthavyam, Telugu cinema hasn’t seen a female-led film of this scale. Among today’s heroines, only Anushka commands such mass appeal. When Krish expressed interest in collaborating with her, Ghaati began to take shape,” he explained.

The storyline was initially considered against the backdrop of Araku and ganja smuggling, with debates on whether it should be a feature film or a web series. Once Anushka signed on, the project was locked as a theatrical release, and production began in full swing.

Casting Vikram Prabhu was entirely the director’s choice, Reddy confirmed. “Since we are releasing the film in Tamil as well, his presence is a significant advantage. Vikram Prabhu has delivered a powerful performance, and his character adds depth and weight to the story.”

The producer emphasized that Anushka’s character will be as intense and compelling as the promotional content suggests, promising a memorable cinematic experience.

NTR’s Bollywood Debut Faces Setback

Share

NTR had high hopes for his Bollywood debut, expecting that starring alongside Hrithik Roshan in War 2 would cement his entry into Hindi cinema. However, the film’s underwhelming performance has shaken those plans.

The actor had also signed a deal with Yash Raj Films for another Hindi project, but the mixed reception of War 2 has cast doubts on the feasibility of that venture. If the movie had been a massive hit, NTR was likely to secure a solo Bollywood project. Instead, negative reviews—particularly criticizing his looks—have made his Bollywood future uncertain.

At present, it seems unlikely that NTR will commit to another Hindi film anytime soon. War 2 has grossed ₹6.5 crore net across India on its second Sunday, bringing its total to ₹221 crore, but the Telugu version has completely collapsed at the box office, intensifying concerns about his pan-Indian appeal.

A recent report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and National Election Watch (NEW) has sparked widespread discussion across political circles, revealing that Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is the richest chief minister in India.

According to the report, Naidu’s total declared assets exceed ₹931 crore, which includes ₹810 crore in movable assets and over ₹121 crore in immovable property. Following him is Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu (BJP) with assets totaling over ₹332 crore, while Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah (Congress) ranks third with ₹51 crore in assets. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is the least wealthy, with declared assets of just ₹15.38 lakh and no immovable property.

The analysis is based on affidavits filed by 30 sitting chief ministers from 27 states and three Union Territories prior to the last general elections.

Breaking down Naidu’s personal assets, he holds movable assets worth ₹4,80,438, including cash of ₹11,560 and bank deposits. He also owns a 1994 Ambassador car valued at ₹2.25 lakh. However, the majority of the family’s wealth belongs to his wife, Nara Bhuvaneshwari, whose assets total ₹763.93 crore, including 3,435 grams of gold, 41.49 kg of silver, and precious stones and pearls worth ₹1.09 crore.

Regarding immovable properties, Naidu owns 95.23 cents of land at Kadapalli village, Shantipuram in Kuppam, where he is constructing a house valued at approximately ₹77.33 lakh. Additionally, he co-owns a 14,950 sq. ft. residential building on 1,225 sq. yards in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, with his son Nara Lokesh, valued at ₹70.20 crore. He also has an inherited property on 0.97 acres in Naravaripalle village, Chandragiri mandal, Tirupati, valued at ₹43.66 lakh. Collectively, his immovable assets total around ₹36.31 crore.

Bhuvaneshwari’s immovable assets are substantial, including five acres of land at Madinaguda, Hyderabad, valued at ₹55 crore, and a commercial building in Sriperumbudur, Chennai, worth ₹30.10 crore, totaling ₹85.10 crore.

For perspective, in 2019, Naidu’s declared assets were ₹20.44 crore, while Bhuvaneshwari’s stood at ₹648.13 crore, showing a significant increase over the years.

This detailed report highlights the immense wealth controlled by the Naidu family and has reignited conversations about political leadership and transparency in India.

Revanth Reddy’s Historic Visit to Osmania University

Share

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made headlines today with a historic visit to Osmania University, becoming the first CM in two decades to set foot on the prestigious campus. Known for his bold and dynamic approach, Revanth delivered a powerful address directly to students, a move that sets him apart from his predecessor, KCR, who refrained from addressing the university community in 2017.

OU has a legacy of activism, with students playing a pivotal role in the Telangana statehood movement, often at great personal cost. However, during the ten-year BRS rule, no leader, including KCR, engaged directly with the student body, attending only select events such as the OU centenary celebrations, without entering the campus or speaking to students.

During his visit, Revanth inaugurated two new hostels built at a cost of ₹80 crore, accommodating 1,200 students, and laid the foundation for two additional hostels set to house 300 more students, funded by the Tribal Welfare Department. He also unveiled several new initiatives, including financial aid for students traveling abroad, the CM Research Fellowship, and a ₹10 crore state-of-the-art digital library reading room.

In his speech, Revanth confirmed that Professor Kodandaram would be re-nominated to the Legislative Council as an MLC. He also assured that the university would soon be free from heavy police presence, emphasizing that educational institutions should remain spaces for learning, free from external security forces.

This landmark visit marks a significant step in reconnecting Telangana’s political leadership with its historic student community and prioritizing infrastructure and academic support on campus.

Karan Johar Slams Podcasters and Fake Astrologers

Share

Filmmaker Karan Johar, known for speaking his mind, recently took to social media to voice his concerns about certain podcasters and self-proclaimed astrologers in the entertainment space.

Karan criticized a section of podcasters who invite guests that make offensive or disrespectful remarks about celebrities and industry professionals. He highlighted that some individuals with no real connection to cinema often make absurd and harmful comments about the film fraternity.

“While I have immense respect for credible media professionals, a sub-culture of podcasters has emerged — inviting guests who have nothing to lose and spew venom against hardworking and legendary members of our industry. This needs to stop! Additionally, psychics and astrologers making insensitive predictions, even about someone’s death, is both disturbing and unacceptable. Free speech is fine, but using it as clickbait is not!” he wrote.

On the professional front, Karan Johar’s last production venture was Dhadak 2.

Yash Teams Up with Geethu Mohandas for Drug Drama Toxic

Share

After the massive success of KGF 2, Yash is all set to return with his highly anticipated film Toxic. While many expected him to collaborate with a top commercial filmmaker from Bollywood or South India, Yash surprised everyone by teaming up with acclaimed filmmaker Geethu Mohandas for this ambitious project that revolves around the dark world of drugs. Adding to the buzz, Hollywood technicians are also working on the film.

According to reports, the team has locked a rare and intense 45-day action schedule. Unlike the usual practice of shooting action sequences in short stretches, this schedule will focus entirely on filming one crucial, high-octane action block. Hollywood stunt expert JJ Perry, known for his exceptional work in John Wick, along with other international professionals, is closely supervising the shoot.

Yash will be seen in a completely new avatar, and insiders reveal that the makers are extremely impressed with the look and the output so far. The film also boasts a star-studded cast featuring Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth, Akshay Oberoi, and Tovino Thomas. Music is being composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while KVN Productions is bankrolling this big-budget venture.

Neuralink Implant Transforms Noland Arbaugh’s Life

Share

Eighteen months after becoming the first recipient of Elon Musk’s Neuralink brain implant, 31-year-old Noland Arbaugh has shared how the breakthrough technology has reshaped his daily life, giving him independence, purpose, and new opportunities.

Arbaugh, paralysed from the shoulders down after a 2016 swimming accident, underwent pioneering surgery in 2024 in which a robotic system implanted Neuralink’s coin-sized brain-computer interface (BCI). The device links over a thousand ultrafine electrodes to neurons, decoding brain signals into digital commands. Using only his thoughts, Arbaugh can control a computer cursor, type, operate household electronics, and even play video games. He reports using the system for up to 10 hours daily to study, read, and engage in leisure activities.

The technology has enabled Arbaugh to enrol at a community college in Arizona, explore business ventures, and take on paid speaking engagements. “I feel like I have potential again,” he told Fortune, reflecting on how the implant restored his sense of direction and personal ambition.

The journey has not been without setbacks. Soon after implantation, several electrode threads retracted from brain tissue, causing a loss of functionality. Neuralink engineers later recalibrated the system, recovering most of its performance. Arbaugh chose not to disclose the complication initially to avoid undermining confidence in the project during its early phase.

Despite the risks, Arbaugh says the implant has given him control and motivation he had lacked since his accident. “Even if it hadn’t worked—or if something went terribly wrong—I knew it would help someone down the road,” he said. Jokingly, he calls himself a “cyborg,” though he still considers himself “a regular guy.”

Neuralink, founded by Musk in 2016, is one of several companies advancing BCIs, a technology still limited to experimental trials but showing immense promise. Arbaugh’s experience underscores both the transformative potential and technical challenges of merging human cognition with digital systems.

Trump Administration Targets OPT Program for International Students

Share

The Optional Practical Training (OPT) program, a vital pathway for international students to gain U.S. work experience, is facing unprecedented threats as the Trump administration pushes for its elimination. In 2024, nearly 200,000 students benefited from OPT, with an additional 95,000 utilizing its STEM extension.

Key policymakers argue that OPT undermines opportunities for American workers. Jessica Vaughan of the Center for Immigration Studies has urged Congress to eliminate programs like OPT, while Joseph Edlow—poised to lead U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)—has stated that post-study work authorization for F-1 students violates the spirit of U.S. immigration law.

The administration’s proposals extend beyond termination. Lawmakers are seeking to remove OPT’s payroll tax exemption, subjecting students and employers to combined FICA deductions of 15.3%. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has also intensified compliance checks, warning that students with over 90 days of unemployment may face deportation. Fraudulent payroll records used to misrepresent OPT employment are under strict federal scrutiny.

These measures signal a major shift in U.S. immigration policy and workforce strategy. For thousands of international students who rely on OPT to begin their careers, the program’s future remains highly uncertain.

USCIS Policy Reversal Puts H-1B Families’ Children at Risk of Aging Out

Share

In a major setback for immigrant families, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has reversed a Biden-era policy that protected dependent children of H-1B visa holders from “aging out” of the green card process. Effective August 15, USCIS will revert to using the stricter “Final Action Dates” chart—rather than the more favorable “Dates for Filing” chart—for calculating age under the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA).

The change disproportionately impacts Indian families stuck in massive employment-based green card backlogs. Children turning 21 while waiting for permanent residency will no longer qualify as dependents, forcing them to file new petitions in adult visa categories with years-long delays or risk becoming undocumented.

The previous policy, introduced in February 2023, allowed thousands of children to remain eligible for green cards alongside their parents. Immigration advocates warn that the rollback could split families and push young immigrants into legal limbo. USCIS has indicated it may honor prior calculations in “extraordinary circumstances,” but only for applications filed before August 15.

Analysts say the move aligns with a harder line on immigration and will sharply reduce the number of CSPA-protected applicants. For many Indian professionals, already facing the world’s longest wait times for U.S. permanent residency, the reversal adds yet another layer of uncertainty and hardship.
