Siva Karthikeyan’s Madrasi Telugu Rights Price Sparks Debate

Share

Tamil star Siva Karthikeyan’s last outing Amaran turned out to be a blockbuster, performing exceptionally well even in the Telugu states. Riding on that success, the makers of his upcoming action entertainer Madrasi are reportedly quoting a staggering ₹14 crore for the Telugu dubbing rights.

However, exhibitors feel the demand is unrealistic. “At best, it could fetch around ₹7 crore because Telugu audiences have become very selective,” noted a distributor, dismissing direct comparisons with Amaran. “That was a patriotic biopic of a brave soldier, which connected strongly with audiences. The powerful performances of Siva Karthikeyan and Sai Pallavi helped it gross ₹46 crore in Telugu states. But Madrasi is a commercial action film, which is a different ball game.”

Directed by hitmaker A.R. Murugadoss of Ghajini fame, Madrasi revolves around illegal arms trade and is packed with high-octane action, drama, and romance. The trailer highlights Siva Karthikeyan in an intense, ferocious avatar with a layered character, while Rukmini Vasanth plays a performance-driven role beyond just glamour.

Industry insiders suggest the high asking price may be inspired by the Telugu market dominance of Tamil stars like Rajinikanth, Vijay, Suriya, and Karthi, who command anywhere between ₹25–₹50 crore for their dubbed films. “The real test for Siva Karthikeyan lies in Madrasi. Its openings and box office run will determine whether he can establish himself as a strong double-digit market star in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” trade analysts say.

Teja Sajja Announces Big New Film for Sankranti 2027

Share

Actor Teja Sajja, who gained nationwide recognition with HanuMan and is currently starring in the ambitious Mirai, has unveiled his next major project on his birthday. This marks his second collaboration with People Media Factory following Mirai, instantly creating a buzz on social media.

Produced on a grand scale by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad, the untitled venture promises lavish production values and a substantial budget. The announcement came with a striking concept poster dominated by bold black and red tones. At its center is a raised hand making the iconic “rock on” gesture—except it grips a game controller instead of a human hand, giving the design a quirky and futuristic vibe.

Adding to the intrigue is the poster’s tagline: “From Rayalaseema to the end of the world,” hinting at a storyline that could blend strong regional roots with global—or even cosmic—stakes.

Slated for a grand theatrical release during Sankranti 2027, the film is already generating immense anticipation. With Teja Sajja’s meteoric rise and People Media Factory’s ambitious vision, this project is shaping up to be another milestone in the superhero star’s career.

Samantha’s Maa Inti Bangaram Back on Track with Nandini Reddy

Share

It has been some time since Samantha announced her upcoming film Maa Inti Bangaram. At the time, she released the first look poster—a striking image of her holding a gun—hinting at a gripping crime drama.

However, after the initial announcement, the project went quiet for several months, leaving fans wondering about its progress.

Now, new reports suggest that Maa Inti Bangaram is finally moving forward. The film, which was initially planned with a new director, has reportedly been handed over to Samantha’s close friend, filmmaker Nandini Reddy. Nandini is currently reworking the script, and production is expected to start once the final draft is ready.

The crime thriller will also be produced under Samantha’s own banner, reflecting her hands-on approach to the project. Recently, Samantha shared that she has been selective with her film choices, focusing on quality over quantity. “I’ll focus on projects that truly excite me,” she said—Maa Inti Bangaram appears to be one such carefully chosen venture.

Fans are particularly excited because Samantha and Nandini Reddy previously delivered the blockbuster Oh! Baby, setting high expectations for their next collaboration.

Swasika Declines Ram Charan’s “Mother” Role in Peddi

Share

Ram Charan’s highly anticipated film Peddi has been making waves in the media, but recently, Malayalam actress Swasika caught attention for turning down a role in the movie.

The 33-year-old actress revealed that she was offered to play Ram Charan’s mother—even though the superstar is seven years older than her.

“I keep getting mother roles one after another. But when I was asked to play Ram Charan’s mother, I said no,” Swasika shared in an interview. “It’s a massive film with a huge budget, but I don’t feel the need to take up such roles at this stage of my career. Maybe later in life, but not now.”

Despite repeated approaches from the film’s team, she remained firm in her decision. Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, stars Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, with music by A.R. Rahman and Kannada legend Shiva Rajkumar in a pivotal role.

Swasika, who gained recognition with last year’s Tamil hit Lubber Pandhu, will next be seen starring alongside Suriya in Karuppu.

Daisy Shah Talks About South Cinema’s “Navel Obsession”

Share

Actress Daisy Shah, who has appeared in several Kannada films, recently spoke out about what she described as the industry’s unusual “navel obsession.”

Recalling her experiences on film sets, Daisy noted a recurring pattern in Kannada song sequences: close-up shots of actresses’ navels, often accompanied by fruit salads, ice, or water being poured over them.

While she did not name anyone directly, social media users quickly speculated that she was hinting at actor-filmmaker V. Ravichandran, known for such distinctive song sequences. Many online comments humorously referred to him as the “Chief Navel Officer.”

Some Telugu netizens also pointed to director K. Raghavendra Rao, who pioneered this trend in South Indian cinema, a style that Ravichandran is said to have followed.

This is not the first time the topic has surfaced. A few months ago, actress Malavika Mohanan also commented on how South Indian films often emphasize actresses’ navels. She admitted that, coming from Mumbai—where such focus is rare—the trend seemed unusual, but acknowledged that the “navel obsession” is indeed very real.

Jim Sarbh Amuses Fans Over “50 Actor” Mix-Up

Share

Bollywood actor Jim Sarbh, known for his role in Kuberaa, recently found himself amusingly listed among the “hot Bollywood actors at 50,” alongside Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Milind Soman, and others.

Taking the mix-up in stride, Jim responded on X with his signature wit: “I stay fit at 50 by being 38,” accompanied by a laughing emoji. His humorous reply quickly entertained fans and highlighted his playful personality.

In reality, Jim Sarbh is just 38, making the listing a clear error—but one he handled with charm rather than irritation.

On the professional front, Jim was last seen in Kuberaa, starring alongside Dhanush and Nagarjuna. His upcoming project, Inspector Zende, co-starring Manoj Bajpayee, is set to premiere on Netflix on September 5.

Mahavatar Narasimha: India’s Animated Blockbuster

Share

Mahavatar Narasimha has emerged as a groundbreaking success in Indian cinema, especially for the animation genre, which is often considered a risky venture in India. Despite modest initial expectations, this regional animated film has shattered records and captured audiences nationwide.

Initially, the film surprised trade analysts by crossing the ₹100 crore mark. It didn’t stop there—before the industry could react, Mahavatar Narasimha surged past ₹200 crore and is now aiming for the unprecedented ₹300 crore milestone worldwide.

Even after facing stiff competition from major pan-India releases like War 2 and Coolie during the Independence Day weekend, the film regained its momentum, reclaiming screens and maintaining packed shows. Its strong audience connect is evident, with houseful boards continuing even into the fourth weekend.

The Hindi version alone has grossed over ₹170 crore, while the Telugu version is on track to reach ₹50 crore—a remarkable achievement for an animated film in India. High weekend footfalls and consistent weekday collections underline the sustained craze among viewers.

From a modest release to rewriting box office records, Mahavatar Narasimha has set a new benchmark for Indian animation cinema. With its momentum still strong, the film is poised to reach milestones once considered impossible, proving that animation can achieve both commercial and cultural impact in India.
