The other day, the entire country has woken up to the news of the encounter of all the four accused in the horrific gangrape and murder of the 26-year-old Telangana vet, Disha. The four culprits were shot dead by the Telangana cops when they were reportedly “trying to escape” during the reconstruction of the incident at the same place where Disha’s charred body was found on the night of November 27th.
Needless to say, the Disha culprits’ encounter has thrown light on the encounter of the Warangal acid attackers, a sensational precedent set by the then chief minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradeshin 200 YS Rajasekhara Reddy in 2008.
Just like Disha’s rapists, Srinivas Rao, Harikrishna, and Sanjay were shot dead by the Warangal police in connection with the acid attackers on Swapnika and Pranitha, the students of the Kakatiya Institute of Technology in Warangal.
Even though the Warangal encounter had witnessed a huge outrage from the human rights activists and law bodies, YSR stood firm in defending the cops and even he was hailed by the common people, especially women, for delivering immediate justice.
The goodwill YSR had earned after the Warangal encounter had helped him in sweeping the general elections that took place in 2009. Well, it looks like KCR and KTR, who are already being showered with praises by the people for delivering a quick justice for Disha, will be rewarded just like YSR.
