Breaking: HC gives green signal for privatization of RTC

Share

In a huge blow to the Telangana RTC and protesting employees, the Telangana High Court has squashed all the petitions that were filed against the privatization of routes in the state. With this, CM KCR would formally announce the private travel operators to take over Telangana roads. Ever since TSRTC went for strike, KCR is looking to privatize all the 5100 routes in the state and in fact he said before the media too.

Based on KCR’s media statements, several petitions were filed in the last one month or so. The High Court heard all the arguments on the petitions for long and finally squashed them. Earlier this week, the court questioned the petitioner why can’t the government take a call on privatizing routes and it has all the rights to provide better transport for the public.

This verdict will leave RTC JAC with no hopes on TSRTC future and about 50,000 employees are likely to lose their jobs, if KCR invites private operators. CM KCR too waited for the court’s verdict and so kept his decision on hold. Now it is just a formality.

No Response From KCR, JAC To Continue Strike

Share

The Telangana RTC JAC has taken a U turn on the strike. Day before yesterday JAC Convener Ashwathama Reddy announced that they are willing to end the strike. But its been over 48 hours, the TRS government did not respond on RTC JAC proposals.

With the government being unresponsive, JAC has announced that the strike is going on. “No employees have joined back their services. False campaign is being against RTC employees. This should end,” said Ashwathama Reddy. He added that from tomorrow employees will be protesting at all the depots with ‘SAVE RTC’ placards and if still the government continues to be ignorant, then we would intensify our strike.

On the other hand, the Telangana High Court will give its final verdict on privatizing the 5100 routes on Friday. In the last two days, the court has heard the arguments from the both sides of privatizing the routes. Based on this verdict, KCR will a decision on RTC future. In yesterday’s meeting with transport authority officials, KCR made it clear that RTC’s chapter is almost closed.

KCR Not Reachable To Gadkari’s Phone Call?

Share

Looks like Telangana CM KCR is no mood to listen to anyone on the Telangana RTC strike issue. After the RTC JAC offering to end the strike with no conditions, the TRS government did not utter a word and KCR confined himself to reviewing with officials.

Union Home minister for state, Kishan Reddy spoke to union road transport minister Nitin Gadkari on the RTC strike day before yesterday. Gadkari assured Kishan Reddy that he would speak to Telangana CM KCR and settle the issue as early as possible.

Reportedly Gadkari had dialed Telangana CM KCR but the Pragathi Bhavan sources informed the central minister that CM is not available. In fact Gadkari waited for nearly 45 minutes to get in touch with KCR. In this digital world, it takes hardly few minutes and moreover Gadkari and KCR are VVIPs and for them to get in touch with each other is hardly an effort.

Despite Gadkari trying his best to talk with KCR, the latter was apprehensive. With repeated ignorance, Gadkari no option rather than to carry on with his other work. Lastly Gadkari forwarded a message to KCR and asked the Telangana CMO officials to convey about it.

Pragathi Bhavan sources claimed that KCR went to meet his friend in Narsingi.

#OMGDaddy: An Impressive Rap Song

Share

Much awaited #OMGDaddy song from Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is out today, and the lyrical video has many things to talk about we have to say. Rapped by Tollywood popular singers/rappers Roll Rida and Rahul Sipligunj, the song is all about Allu Arjun’s character talking about his dad who is becoming the baddie of his life.

Talking about the daddy who doesn’t give even 100 rupees for spending, and how he scolds for every single little thing in life also labelling him as ‘spy daddy’, the song is quite energetic we must say. This time, Thaman impressed with his interludes and the violin-laced string work in that music. ‘OMG Daddy, Just don’t be my baddy’ has impressive lyrics written by Krishna Chaitanya.

Looks like part of the song was shot in Paris in front of some heritage buildings, while the other parts will feature scenes of Allu Arjun, Murali Sharma and Rohini. The good part of the lyrical video is, the real-life daddies of Allu Arjun, Pooja Hegde, Trivikram, Allu Arvind and Thaman are paid a tribute as they showcased the pictures of them.

After Samajavaragamana and Ramuloo Ramulaa song, surely OMG Daddy is another winner on hand for Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo as the film is gearing up for Sankranthi 2020 release.

Watch Funny Meme: Seethamma Vakitlo Asuran!

Share

Ever since producer Suresh Babu announced in an interview that they are considering Srikanth Addala of Seethamma Vaakitlo Sirimalle Chettu fame to handle the Telugu remake of intense Tamil film Asuran, there is this widespread trolling on Twitter. And here’s the epic of it.

Apparently some social media enthusiasts have come up with a video where there are the visuals of Asuran and the dialogues of Seethamma Vaakitlo attached to them. This video is bringing instant laughs as the Godavari slang centred Telugu dialogues for a rugged movie like Asuran sounds funny.

That way these netizens are expressing their dislike for Srikanth Addala helming Asuran’s Telugu version, while some are feasting on the troll comedy. But the thing is, one cannot really expect what a director is capable of delivering untile he really does something. So making fun of Addala isn’t the right thing to do at this point of time.

And then, there is a talk that Suresh Babu wants some able fight choreographers to handle the action sequences of the film, and they are looking forward to one. Because the action director will be directing half the cinema for sure.

Official: Sarileru Neekevvaru on Jan 11, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo on 12th

Share

One of the most talked about things related to Telugu film releases in the recent times is the upcoming clash between Mahesh Babu’s Sarileru Neekevvaru and Allu Arjun’s Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo at the box office on Jan 11, as both films competed with each other to go for a clash. But now, it looks like things are set.

Telugu Film Industry’s ‘Acting Telugu Producers Guild’ has finally taken the mega decision of solving the issue of this clash. Though Mahesh and Allu Arjun are said to have met earlier and taken a call, finally producer Anil Sunkara of 14 Reels and Radha Krishna of Haarika Haasini have met on Friday morning to take a final call.

We are hearing that they have agreed to release Sarileru Neekevvaru on January 11th and Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo will be now hitting on 12th. Though Sankranthi could accommodate 2-3 films on the same day easily, it will be tough to recover mammoth budgets if there is no solo release. For the same reason, the ATPG has convinced them both to avert the clash. And they did.

Saaho Fails To Break The Bond!

Share

After delivering a dud with Saaho, director Sujeeth is now all set to return to directing Sharwanand. Sujeeth is currently writing a script for Sharwa and Sharwa has agreed to work with Sujeeth.Apparently, Sujeeth has narrated the line to Sharwa and the Shatamanam Bhavati actor has given his go ahead. Sujeeth is developing the script and once he finishes it, he will team up with Sharwa.

Interestingly, UV Creations which has produced Sujeeth’s two films will also be bankrolling Sujeeth and Sharwa’s film. Saaho failes to break the bond between Sujeeth and UV creations. Even after a dud like Saaho, UV dares to do one more film with Sujeeth. Sujeeth’s debut Run Raja Run is a runaway hit turning out to be a turning point in Sharwa’s career as well as Sujeeth’s career. However, Sujeeth couldn’t meet expectations with Saaho.

Sharwa is quite comfortable with Sujeeth and he feels UV Creations is like his home banner with which he worked for three films – Run Raja Run, Express Raja, Mahanubhavudu.

This is going to be the fourth collaboration of Sharwa and UV. Meanwhile, UV is busy producing Prabhas, Pooja Hegde starrer Jaan directed by Radhakrishna of Jil fame. On the other hand, Sharwa is working on two other films.

So, Sujeeth and Sharwa will team up after wrapping up Sharwa’s two other commitments.

Sarileru Vs Ala: Who’s Targeting Who?

Share

The moment an announcement came from Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo earlier that they are coming up on January 11th, the makers of Sarileru Neekevvaru have announced by the evening that they are also locking January 11th for the release. Since then, Ala team is crying foul that Sarileru makers are targeting them big time.

And as a final nail in the coffin, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo team stated that a technical glitch delayed their song’s release from 4’0 clock to 5:04 PM, the time that Sarileru Neekevvaru locked for their teaser release. But then, Sarileru Neekevvaru team swung into action to announce that the teaser of the film is coming up on 22nd. This happened only a couple of days ago. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo promoters are once again crying foul that Sarileru Neekevvaru team is targeting them.

But then, people from Sarileru Neekevvaru are clarifying that they have laid up a promotion plan long back and are following only that, but not trying to intentionally clash with any other movie’s promotions. That might be also true because the real cast and crew of Sarileru Neekevvaru is actually filming in Kerala and they got nothing to do with these promotions happening here.

Though the release-date clash between these two films is averted, this promotional clash might not work well down the lane. Because, if they release their songs or teasers on different dates, surely they could be getting more attention from more number of audiences than if they break-in on the same day. Other than giving scope to fans to indulge in ugly hashtag wars on Twitter where they want to showcase their authority, these clashes are of no use.

George Reddy : Movie Review

Share

George Reddy has become the talk of the Telugu Cinema industry with its eye catching promos. The film is a biopic (although the makers claim it to be a fiction) based on an influential student leader from Osmania University in the late Sixties. Did the film live up to its hype?

What is it about?

George Reddy (Sandeep Madhav) is a brilliant student who ‘raises his voice’ against the atrocities happening in the Osmania University Campus. He soon becomes a student leader and fight the inequalities and vandalism in the campus. He becomes the prime target for many of his opponents and they plot a plan to eliminate him.

Performances:

Sandeep Madhav’s performance is decent as George Reddy. His demeanor, walk and dialogue delivery are impressive. His styling also is on point, but the character has been poorly etched due to the lack of imagination and character study. Muskaan is okay as the female lead who secretly admires him. Abhay got a meaty role as George’s close aide and he delivered a noteworthy performance. The actor who played Lallan Singh is good. Manoj Nandan, Chaitanya Krishna and Satya Dev made their presence felt.

Technicalities:

Jeevan Reddy focused more on style than substance. The lack of material on hand is clearly evident as the director fails to give an insight into an iconic personality like George Reddy. Either enough research was not done or he had succumbed to external pressure that he didn’t try to establish who George Reddy was fighting against. The director has shown his skills in visualizing the action sequences though.

Background score is terrific and lifts the film in many sequences. The song on heroine could have been avoided though. Cinematography is fantastic in action scenes. Credit to the stunt directors who did a commendable job in bringing the fireball fight and blade fight so effectively onto the screen. Editing is uneven. Dialogues are good in parts. Production values are good.

Thumbs Up:

Fights

Background score

Interval Speech

Thumbs Down:

Lack of character study

No proper insight into the iconic student leader’s life and ideologies

Clumsy second half

Hurried and ineffective Climax

Analysis:

George Reddy is an iconic student leader who has left an indelible mark on Osmania University history and student politics of Andhra Pradesh. When a biopic is made on such an influential character one would expect the film to be very inspiring and leave a lasting impression on its audience. Unfortunately, George Reddy turned out be a lackluster exercise where the director hasn’t done proper research on the character and the incidents in Reddy’s life. Even the screenplay was penned very clumsily that it becomes confusing to follow the events that unfold on screen.

Director Jeevan employed Mahanati kind of screenplay technique to drive this biopic by starting it off with a documentary filmmaker going in search of knowing details about George Reddy. This seems to be a last minute addition to the screenplay that none of the ‘research’ scenes add any value to the script. There is an attempt to establish the mother-son bonding from the beginning, but despite having many scenes on them it doesn’t come off effectively on to the screen. The story opens with the introduction of George Reddy as a kid, but quickly cuts to the scene where he enters Osmania Campus.

The student politics and the societal indifferences that gave rise to the George Reddy phenomenon are not established well. There is a deliberate attempt to not to get into the reasons that irked George Reddy, which diluted the character’s very own ideologies and impact on the campus politics. Including heroine’s track only made it furthermore unserious and diverted the film from its core point. George Reddy comes across as a hot-blooded youth who uses muscle power to tackle anything. It almost appears as a thirty minute docu-drama stretched into a three hour film with the emphasis on action sequences and hero elevation scenes.

Second half becomes even clumsy as it reaches the climax. The incidents that resulted in the killing of George Reddy are not shown effectively. Student fights get repetitive and utterly boring after a time. Even the scene where George Reddy gets brutally killed has been done in a hurried fashion that it doesn’t make the desired impact. The film should have been a proper tribute to the iconic student leader, but it ends up as an attempt to cash in on his name and popularity.

Verdict: Sorry, George!

Shock: YCP Colour To Idol On Temple

Share

Taking the politics to new low in Andhra Pradesh, a Hindu Temple and Idol in Nellore district have been painted in Blue & White – YCP’s trademark colour. The Temple’s top and idol of Lord Garuda (Garuthmantha) has been painted. This has raised a lot of criticism from several quarters as it is deeply hurting the sentiments of a community.

Some over-enthusiastic leaders, activists of party is suspected to have done this. TDP and BJP leaders have raised a strong objection to YCP’s political acts. Coming down heavily on ruling party, TDP leaders are asking the government to focus on people’s welfare and development instead of indulging in political activities like this. They are also questioning the government’s stand on capital and losing investments.

BJP leaders have issued a strong warning to government to mend its ways for hurting the sentiments of a community. They are demanding the government to take stern action against those responsible and immediately rectify the wrongdoing.

However, this is not first time YCP’s colour has been painted on a public property. Earlier, the incidents like Indian Flag and Gram Panchayat buildings were painted in Blue & White colours and it also had invited a furore. It was then reported that CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy had asked YCP leaders to not repeat such acts. Yet, Jagan’s instructions have fallen on deaf ears. Now, the latest incident is worrying as it could even lead to a law and order situation in village. More details are awaited.
