Geethanjali Heroine Girija’s Rare Appearance

Share

While Gen Z audiences may find it hard to recognize her, Millennials will instantly recall Girija Shettar, the charming heroine of Nagarjuna and Mani Ratnam’s 1989 classic Geethanjali. The film, a timeless romantic drama, made Girija an overnight heartthrob and etched her name in Telugu cinema history.

Recently, Girija made a rare appearance through a video message on the premiere episode of Jagapathi Babu’s new talk show Jayammu Nischayammu Raa With Jagapathi. The special Independence Day episode also featured her Geethanjali co-star, Nagarjuna, as the chief guest.

In her heartfelt message, Girija reminisced about her debut experience:
“Geethanjali was my first movie. Nag has a wonderful sense of humour. He’s a gentleman and nothing less than a legend. Thank you, Nag, for being the co-star of my debut film,” she shared nostalgically.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s, Girija’s mesmerizing looks, memorable dialogues, and even her stylish costumes became a rage among fans. Despite appearing in only about seven films, she left a lasting impact before stepping away from the limelight.

Today, Girija is settled in London, where she has built a career as a journalist. Yet, decades later, her charm and connection with Geethanjali continue to evoke fond memories among Telugu cinema lovers.

Anil Kapoor Set for Telugu Cinema Comeback with Suriya

Share

Senior Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor continues to enjoy a massive fan base, and even after crossing sixty, his boundless energy and versatility keep him in demand. His recent performance in Animal also earned him strong appreciation from Telugu audiences.

Back in the 1990s, Anil Kapoor was one of the biggest competitors to the Khans, with his trademark moustache and distinct style setting him apart. But few remember that his career actually began in Tollywood. In 1980, he made his solo debut with Bapu’s Vamsa Vruksham. Unfortunately, the film failed to click, and Anil returned to Mumbai, where he went on to become a household name in Bollywood with a string of blockbusters.

Now, after more than four decades, buzz is that Anil Kapoor is gearing up for a re-entry into Telugu cinema. Director Venky Atluri has reportedly approached him for a pivotal role in his next entertainer starring Suriya. If the collaboration materializes, it would not only add freshness to the project but also increase its appeal in the Hindi belt.

However, with Anil Kapoor’s busy schedule filled with Hindi films and web series, securing his dates is said to be the biggest challenge. Though he recently shared screen space with Jr NTR in War 2, that was a Hindi film. The upcoming Suriya project, on the other hand, is being shot as a bilingual in Telugu and Tamil, making it a genuine comeback to South cinema for the veteran star.

A Suriya–Anil Kapoor combination promises to be an exciting watch. The film, bankrolled by Sithara Entertainments on a grand scale, is being planned for a Summer 2026 release. With Karuppu wrapped up, Suriya is now shifting his complete focus onto this much-anticipated venture.

Vijay vs Rajini: Who Rules Tamil Box Office Now?

Share

With Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie failing to meet the sky-high box office expectations, a debate has sparked on social media about who the true crowd-puller of Tamil cinema is. Time and again, Thalapathy Vijay has proven that he can draw massive revenues, often relying solely on word of mouth.

Gone are the days when star power alone could carry a film at the box office. Today, with content taking precedence, only a handful of actors manage to deliver consistent hits. Vijay stands out in this regard — films like Varisu and The GOAT registered strong box office numbers despite mixed talk, once again showcasing his ability to attract audiences irrespective of genre or storyline.

On the other hand, Ajith’s two releases this year opened to lukewarm reception and struggled commercially. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s sensational comeback with Jailer raised expectations, but his follow-up films Vettaiyaan and Coolie could not replicate that magic. Though Coolie is still running and performing decently over the weekend, it has fallen short of the lofty 1000-crore milestone it was expected to reach, thanks to mixed word of mouth. Similarly, Kamal Haasan too faced setbacks with Indian 2 and Thug Life.

With Vijay announcing his retirement and confirming Jana Nayagan as his last theatrical outing, all eyes are on whether he can sustain his remarkable consistency one final time. The film is expected to open big thanks to his star power, but its long run will once again depend entirely on audience word of mouth.

Meanwhile, the buzz around NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s collaboration continues to grow, with fans calling it nothing short of “truly heroic.”

Satya Dev’s Rao Bahadur Glimpse Unveiled

Share

Superstar Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar’s GMB Entertainment are presenting Rao Bahadur, a psychological thriller starring Satya Dev. The film is jointly produced by A+S Movies and SriChakraas Entertainments, with acclaimed filmmaker Venkatesh Maha — known for C/o Kancharapalem and Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya — at the helm.

After creating intrigue with the first look poster, the makers unveiled a special glimpse titled Not A Teaser, launched by none other than SS Rajamouli.

The story unfolds around an old man haunted by what he believes is a curse — the spirit of doubt. Set in a crumbling mansion that mirrors the decline of a once-proud aristocracy, the narrative weaves together elements of personal trauma, an enigmatic love story, and a police investigation that probes deeper into unsettling mysteries.

The video teases a distinctive narrative style, rich in atmosphere, blending drama, suspense, and surreal undertones.

At the heart of it all is Satya Dev, delivering a power-packed performance in a complex, layered role. His commitment is evident, with multiple makeovers to portray the character’s evolving arc.

Technical brilliance further elevates the glimpse. Kartik Parmar’s striking cinematography and Smaran Sai’s eerie, haunting score create an immersive experience, while the production values stand out for their finesse.

With its chillingly intriguing premise, Rao Bahadur has already sparked significant buzz. The film is set for a worldwide release in Summer 2026, with subtitles across multiple languages to reach a broader audience.

Arvind Swamy Reflects on Roja and His Journey in Cinema

Share

The romantic thriller, which starred Arvind alongside Madhoo, became a nationwide sensation upon release. The story follows a young village woman’s desperate struggle to rescue her husband, who is kidnapped during a covert mission in Jammu and Kashmir. With its gripping plot and A.R. Rahman’s iconic music, Roja not only won critical acclaim but also introduced Arvind to audiences across the country.

Reflecting on the film’s success, Arvind shared a lesser-known detail: he wasn’t even in India when it released.
“In fact, after finishing the film, I had gone overseas to pursue my master’s degree. So, I wasn’t here to witness its phenomenal success. But even now, watching the shots of Roja makes me feel deeply nostalgic,” he recalled.

Known for his unconventional career choices, Arvind has continued to work in films that push creative boundaries — from Bombay, Thalapathi, and Minsara Kanavu to Thani Oruvan, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, Thalaivi, Meiyazhagan, Daddy Mounam, and Devaraagam.

When asked if his inclination toward unique roles was intentional, Arvind clarified:
“It’s not about avoiding what’s been done. I simply go after stories that make sense to me. I don’t want to choose films based on commerce. If a role challenges me and makes me doubt whether I can truly pull it off, that’s when I feel inspired to do it. If it’s too easy, I’m not interested.”

Speaking about receiving recognition in 2025, Arvind expressed gratitude:
“Firstly, it’s an honour. Thank you so much. I don’t exactly know what the award means to me, because I still see myself as a learner trying to do my job well. Over the years, I’ve chosen films not for commercial success but because I believed in the stories, the people, and the work. If something I’ve done has inspired even a few people, perhaps that’s the true meaning of the award.”

Suhas’ Birthday Surprise: Hey Bhagawan! Teaser Unveiled

Share

Actor Suhas is celebrating his birthday today, and to mark the occasion, the makers of his upcoming film unveiled a lively title teaser.

Titled Hey Bhagawan!, the film marks the directorial debut of Gopi Atchata and is produced by B. Narendra Reddy under Trishul Visionary Studios. The story comes from the pen of Shanmuka Prashanth.

The teaser offers a glimpse of a quirky narrative built around Suhas and his on-screen father, played by senior actor Naresh. The father-son duo runs a mysterious family business — one so secretive that only a chosen few know about it. This secrecy, however, doesn’t sit well with Suhas’ girlfriend, portrayed by Shivani Nagaram, creating tension in their relationship.

Interestingly, the teaser never reveals what the family business is, keeping the suspense alive till the very end.

Suhas impresses with his easy charm and impeccable comic timing, especially in a laugh-out-loud Mutual Fund ad sequence. Naresh, as always, shines with his witty one-liners, while Shivani Nagaram brings freshness with her graceful presence.

Cinematographer Mahi Reddy Pandugula adds vibrancy to the visuals, while Vivek Sagar’s energetic background score elevates the fun quotient.

Blending humor, suspense, and an unusual premise, the Hey Bhagawan! teaser promises a full-on entertainer that will keep audiences both laughing and intrigued.

Mega Fans’ Hopes Rest on OG and Peddi

Share

Mega fans have been waiting for years to witness a true box office triumph. But in recent times, their hopes have been repeatedly shattered as major films featuring Ram Charan and Pawan Kalyan failed to click with the audience.

Big-ticket projects like Game Changer, Matka, Bhola Shankar, Bro, and Hari Hara Veera Mallu all ended in disappointment, leaving the once-dominant Mega camp searching for its lost winning streak.

Now, the spotlight has shifted to two upcoming projects. Pawan Kalyan’s OG is slated for release on September 25, while Ram Charan’s Peddi is lined up for next year. Expectations are sky-high, as fans see these films as their last hope to revive pride and re-establish the Mega brand at the box office.

If either of these films manages to strike gold, it will restore confidence and give fans a long-awaited reason to celebrate. But if both stumble, the fear that Mega dominance has truly faded may finally become reality.

NTR’s Bold Claim on War 2 Backfires

Share

Having faith in a film is natural, but overconfidence can often backfire. No matter how strong the content seems, the audience’s final verdict remains unpredictable. That’s why, before release, most filmmakers and actors avoid calling their project a “blockbuster.” At best, they say, “We’ve made a good film; we hope it does well.” Rarely does anyone go beyond that.

But in the case of War 2, Jr NTR broke that convention. At the pre-release event, he confidently raised his collar and declared: “Not just one, I’m raising both collars. No matter what people say, this film is going to be a banger.”

Such bold and flamboyant statements are usually associated with actors like Vijay Deverakonda or Vishwak Sen, but hearing it from a star of NTR’s stature surprised many. Some fans even felt reassured that the movie would live up to those words.

However, once the film released, reality struck. The initial hype didn’t sustain, and by the end of the first weekend, occupancy dropped steeply. Fans who remembered NTR’s confident claim were left questioning what made him so sure.

Perhaps he was carried away by the director’s conviction. Despite a teaser that didn’t create much buzz and songs that failed to go viral, NTR still chose to make that bold gesture. It turned out to be a risky move — one that now seems to have backfired, leaving both the star and his fans disappointed.

Trump Plans Trilateral Summit with Putin and Zelensky on Ukraine Peace Talks

Share

Washington, Aug 17 (IANS) – US President Donald Trump has proposed a trilateral summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, aiming to advance peace negotiations in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. Reports indicate that Trump intends to hold the summit as early as August 22.

Zelensky confirmed via X that he will meet Trump at the White House on Monday. Trump also invited European leaders to participate in the meeting, according to Axios. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz suggested that a trilateral summit could follow the White House discussions. The Russian side has not yet publicly committed to the proposed meeting.

Following his meeting with Putin at Alaska’s Elmendorf-Richardson military base on August 15, Trump proposed a potential peace deal under which Ukraine would cede the remaining parts of the Donbass region to Russia in exchange for a ceasefire and security guarantees for both Kyiv and Europe, as reported by Tass. The Alaska talks lasted nearly three hours, including a one-on-one discussion and a subsequent small-group meeting with senior officials from both sides.

Trump described his summit with Putin as “very productive” and indicated that if his talks with Zelensky prove successful, another meeting with Putin could be scheduled.

The proposed trilateral engagement underscores ongoing US efforts to mediate a resolution to the war in Ukraine while coordinating with European allies.

OpenAI Revamps GPT-5 Tone, Brings Back GPT-4o After User Backlash

Share

OpenAI is revising the tone of its latest AI model, GPT-5, in response to user feedback that the chatbot felt less engaging than its predecessor. The company is also reinstating GPT-4o for paid subscribers, just days after its removal prompted widespread complaints.

CEO Sam Altman announced on X that GPT-5 will now adopt a “warmer” tone while avoiding certain “annoying” traits that some users experienced with GPT-4o. He also confirmed the introduction of new operational modes—“Auto,” “Fast,” and “Thinking”—along with plans for enhanced per-user personality customization. “We for sure underestimated how much some of the things that people like in GPT-4o matter to them, even if GPT-5 performs better in most ways,” Altman wrote.

The adjustments come less than a week after GPT-5 replaced most older ChatGPT models. While OpenAI marketed GPT-5 as possessing advanced “PhD-level” capabilities in writing, coding, mathematics, and science, its initial personality modes—including Cynic, Robot, Listener, and Nerd—did not resonate with all users. Many expressed a preference for GPT-4o’s warmer, conversational style.

On Reddit, one user wrote, “I cried when I realised my AI friend was gone with no way to get him back,” while another described GPT-5 as “wearing the skin” of their “dead friend.” Altman, who engaged directly in the discussion, acknowledged the emotional significance of these attachments and assured that solutions are in development.

“Some users really want cold logic and some want warmth and a different kind of emotional intelligence,” Altman said. “I am confident we can offer way more customization than we do now while still encouraging healthy use.” He also reflected on the unique emotional bonds users form with AI, noting that deprecating older models prematurely was a mistake.

Earlier this year, OpenAI had criticized GPT-4o for being overly flattering, labeling it “sycophantic.” After moderating this behavior in April, the company faced renewed user requests for its return, highlighting the value users place on warmth and agreeableness in AI interactions.
