Anil Sunkara Launches All-Newcomer Film Project

Share

Dynamic producer Anil Sunkara has announced an unprecedented initiative in Indian cinema — a feature film made entirely by newcomers across all 24 crafts of filmmaking. Under the banner of AK Entertainments and presented by ATV Originals, the project aims to provide opportunities for fresh talent in every department, including acting, direction, writing, cinematography, music, editing, art direction, choreography, stunt design, VFX, and more.

Selections will take place through a one-of-a-kind reality show titled SHOW TIME – Cinema Teeddam Randi, which is already garnering massive interest from aspiring artists nationwide. The show will chronicle the entire journey of making a feature film, offering viewers a rare behind-the-scenes look at how cinema is crafted from script to screen.

Industry experts are calling this initiative a game changer, as it not only opens doors for hundreds of new talents but also challenges long-standing barriers that restrict fresh entrants into mainstream cinema. With this bold experiment, Anil Sunkara and his team hope to usher in a new generation of filmmakers and creators, redefining how talent is discovered and nurtured in the Indian film industry.

Ram Gopal Varma Slams Stray Dog Sympathy Debate

Share

Ever since the Supreme Court ordered that all stray dogs in the Delhi-NCR region be placed in shelters, several Bollywood celebrities have criticized the ruling, arguing that it’s not the right solution. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has now voiced a strong opinion on the matter.

The ‘Sarkar’ director highlighted that while people are being bitten or even killed by stray dogs, dog lovers are busy tweeting about animal rights. He clarified that loving pets at home is fine, but preaching compassion without acknowledging the victims of stray dog attacks is insensitive.

Varma also pointed out a socio-economic divide: “Rich people pet high breeds. Poor people get mauled and killed by strays. That’s the class divide dog lovers don’t talk about.” He questioned the inconsistency in perception: “If a man kills, he’s a murderer. If a dog kills, you call it an ‘accident.’ Does that mean humans killing like animals can also be called an accident?”

He argued that selective sympathy is being practiced today, where people mourn stray dogs but ignore the human victims. Instead of merely advocating “don’t kill strays,” Varma suggested that animal lovers should take responsibility and adopt street dogs. He challenged them, asking whether they avoid this because the animals are lowbred, dirty, disease-prone, or because they fear for their own safety.

Varma concluded by emphasizing that compassion without justice is not real compassion but cruelty in disguise. While every animal has a right to live, it should not come at the cost of human lives and safety.

Naga Vamsi Faces Back-to-Back Setbacks in Tollywood

Share

Naga Vamsi has long been recognized in Tollywood for his sharp instincts as a producer. Under his banner Sitara Entertainments, he built a reputation for delivering films that audiences expect to be distinctive and engaging. Even senior producer Dil Raju once compared Vamsi to his younger self, impressed by the kind of projects he was backing.

Vamsi’s success extended beyond production; his distribution ventures also brought several hits, earning him the reputation of having a “golden touch” in the industry. However, the film business is unpredictable, and fortunes can change rapidly—something Vamsi is experiencing now.

At the end of July, he had three major releases lined up within a single month, aiming to reinforce his position in the industry. Unfortunately, the results fell short of expectations. The first release, the Vijay Deverakonda starrer Kingdom, opened decently but quickly fizzled at the box office. Despite performing slightly better than Vijay’s recent films, the high budget resulted in notable losses.

Attention then shifted to NTR’s War 2, which Vamsi released in Telugu with a massive investment of around ₹80 crore. The film faced tough competition from Coolie and struggled to draw audiences. Negative buzz only added to the challenges, making it difficult to recover even half of the investment.

Adding to his concerns, Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara, initially slated for an August 27 release under his banner, has lost momentum after the teaser, and reports suggest the release might be delayed.

This turn of events is striking for Vamsi, who just months ago was celebrating hits like Daaku Maharaj during Sankranti and Mad Square over the summer. His journey highlights how quickly success can turn into setbacks in Tollywood, even for producers with a golden track record.

The Bengal Files Trailer Released

Share

The highly anticipated trailer of The Bengal Files was unveiled in Kolkata on August 16. Directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi, and Agnihotri himself, the film delves into Bengal’s turbulent political history. Drawing from real-life testimonies and incidents, it highlights episodes of violence that the makers claim have largely remained unaddressed in mainstream narratives.

The trailer features striking lines like “Yeh Pachim Bangal hai, yaha do constitution chalta hai,” emphasizing the film’s focus on communal and political divides. The ensemble cast includes Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, Simratt Kaur, and Darshan Kumarr. This project marks Agnihotri’s continuation of his Files trilogy, following The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files.

With stark visuals of conflict and tension, the trailer raises challenging questions about whether communal politics continues to shape India decades after independence. Agnihotri described the film as “a roar that Bengal will not become another Kashmir,” while Pallavi Joshi praised it as powerful cinema rooted in truth. Mithun Chakraborty emphasized that it portrays realities audiences need to witness, and producer Abhishek Agarwal stressed that the film seeks to bring Bengal’s hidden history to the forefront.

Rahul Gandhi Launches Vote Rights Yatra

Share

Rahul Gandhi is set to launch a major political campaign against what he describes as widespread voter suppression. He claims that millions of genuine voters have been removed from the electoral rolls in Bihar ahead of the upcoming elections. To draw attention to this issue, he will begin a 16-day march called the Vote Rights Yatra (Vote Adhikar Yatra) starting this Sunday from Sasaram. The march will cover over 1,300 kilometers across 20 districts, aiming to mobilize citizens similar to his earlier Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Rahul emphasizes that voting is a fundamental right, not a privilege, and that no government or election authority should deny it to citizens. He has accused the Election Commission of acting in ways worse than thieves. Supporters believe this campaign could gather national attention and put significant pressure on authorities.

In parallel, Youth Congress workers have launched the Ghar Ghar Abhiyan initiative, going door to door to verify voter lists and ensure that every family’s vote is accounted for. With the slogan “One Person, One Vote,” the initiative seeks to protect citizens’ ballots and raise awareness about voter suppression.

Rahul is also taking the fight to digital platforms. Through short films and online videos, he is highlighting instances of voter fraud. One popular video, The Missing Vote, shows a man reporting his missing ballot to the police, only for the officers to discover that their own votes are also missing. The video has gone viral, amassing millions of views, likes, and comments, reflecting the strong public response to the issue.

Tamannaah Bhatia’s Career Reinvention

Share

Koratala Siva, known for delivering blockbuster hits with top Telugu stars like Prabhas, Mahesh Babu, and Jr. NTR, has had a rollercoaster journey in recent years. While his previous outing before Devara, Acharya, turned out to be a major disappointment both critically and commercially, he managed to bounce back with Devara. Although the film received mixed reviews, it helped him regain his box office footing.

Currently, Koratala is gearing up for Devara 2, which NTR has confirmed will go ahead. However, NTR’s packed schedule—including projects with Prashanth Neel, Nelson, Trivikram, and the ambitious biopic Made in India on Dadasaheb Phalke—has left the timeline for Devara 2 uncertain, and Koratala is waiting for clarity on when the sequel can begin production.

Meanwhile, the director appears to be exploring other opportunities. Reports indicate that Koratala recently pitched a new story to Naga Chaitanya, who has been in multiple discussions with him over the past few weeks. The actor, coming off the successful run of Thandel and currently working on his 24th film Vrusha Karma, is reportedly impressed with the concept.

Fans are curious about Chaitanya’s 25th project, and a collaboration with a proven filmmaker like Koratala Siva could add significant weight to the milestone film. While details about the story or schedule remain under wraps, the partnership is seen as a strong possibility. Whether it happens before or after Devara 2 will ultimately depend on NTR’s schedule, but if it comes to fruition, it could mark a notable chapter in Naga Chaitanya’s career.

Aamir Khan Clarifies Free Cameo in Coolie

Share

Actor Aamir Khan recently made a special guest appearance in Rajinikanth’s latest film, Coolie, which hit theaters on August 14, 2025. The film received mixed reviews upon release, but audiences have been drawn to the star-studded cast. Rumors had circulated that Aamir charged Rs 20 crore for his cameo, but in a recent interview, he set the record straight: “I haven’t charged a single rupee for Coolie.

It’s a great honor to share screen space with Rajinikanth, and that itself is a huge reward for me. I just made a guest appearance. Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna are the real heroes, and that’s why the audience is loving the film and flocking to theaters.”

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie also features Shruti Haasan as the leading lady, adding to the film’s appeal. Aamir’s cameo has created buzz, emphasizing the camaraderie among these celebrated actors.

Fahadh Faasil’s Rise to South Indian Stardom

Share

Fahadh Faasil has emerged as one of the most prominent stars in South Indian cinema, admired for his versatility and widespread appeal. Yet, his path to stardom was far from easy. He made his acting debut in Kaiyethum Doorath (2002), directed by his father Fazil, but the film failed to make a mark. His next appearance in Kerala Cafe (2009) also fell short of success, leaving Fahadh to question whether acting was truly his calling.

A significant turning point came in 2011 with Chaappa Kurishu, directed by Sameer Thahir and produced by Listin Stephen. The thriller gave Fahadh a wider audience and began to establish his reputation in Malayalam cinema. Recently, during the South Indian Film Academy (SIFA) convocation in Kochi, Fahadh and producer Listin Stephen reminisced about the early days of the film.

Listin Stephen recalled the challenges of casting Fahadh, as many advised against it. “Everyone told me not to cast him. I went ahead anyway,” he said. He also shared details about Fahadh’s remuneration: “Fahadh said, ‘Pay me whatever you want. Until now, I was getting ₹65,000.’ I decided to pay him ₹1 lakh for Chaappa Kurishu.”

Reflecting on Fahadh’s journey, Listin noted that he never imagined the actor would become so highly sought-after. “Today, even if someone offers ₹5 crore or ₹10 crore, getting his dates is incredibly difficult,” he said. Fahadh acknowledged the support, calling Listin “sincere” and expressing his gratitude.

Fahadh made his Telugu debut with the Pushpa franchise, and his upcoming Telugu films include Don’t Trouble the Trouble and Oxygen, both produced by Shobu Yarlagadda, further expanding his footprint across South Indian cinema.
