Samuthirakani Plans Directorial Comeback in Tollywood

Share

Kollywood actor Samuthirakani has become quite popular in Tollywood in a short span, thanks to his versatile performances and unique screen presence. Whether it’s a supporting role or a lead character, he brings depth and impact to every part he plays. Beyond acting, Samuthirakani is also a talented director, having left a creative mark behind the camera as well. However, he is more celebrated as an actor than as a filmmaker, with notable works across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada industries.

In recent years, Samuthirakani has been focusing more on Telugu films. As a director, he attempted to establish himself in Tollywood with Bro, starring Sai Dharam Tej and Pawan Kalyan. Though the film performed moderately at the box office, it helped him showcase his directorial skills. However, Samuthirakani has been relatively absent from Telugu screens of late, leading many to wonder about his current pursuits.

Reports suggest that Samuthirakani is now actively committing to projects in other languages, particularly Tamil, while strategically planning his return to Telugu — not as an actor, but as a director. He has already secured a film with Pawan Kalyan, who reportedly promised to work with him after being impressed by the making of Bro. Samuthirakani is currently working on crafting a solid script for the Power Star.

Additionally, he is said to be preparing stories keeping other Telugu star heroes in mind, indicating a clear intent to build his directorial presence in Tollywood. While Pawan’s current focus is on Ustaad Bhagat Singh, his next project is yet to be confirmed. If all goes well, Samuthirakani might just get the opportunity to direct Pawan in his next venture — something that seems inevitable given their prior collaboration.

Kareena Kapoor Turns Playful Ghost in Genre-Bending Film

Share

Kareena Kapoor is all set to surprise audiences with her next role — that of a playful, entertaining ghost in a film that promises a fresh twist on the supernatural genre. What makes this project even more intriguing is her pairing with a young male lead in his early twenties, a dynamic that flips the usual age norms seen in mainstream cinema.

The film is penned by noted writer Hussain Dalal, marking his first project outside Ayan Mukerji’s production house. According to sources, “The script is quirky and refreshing, offering a new spin on the ghost genre. It blends humor and fantasy in a way that’s rarely explored, and Kareena fits the part effortlessly.”

This role not only allows Kareena to explore a fun, genre-bending character but also challenges the typical Bollywood trend where older male actors are often paired with much younger actresses. With this film, Kareena continues to redefine her space in cinema, proving that age is no barrier when it comes to versatility and star power.

How to apply for a Schengen visa from India in 2025

Schengen Visa for Indian Travellers in 2025: A Comprehensive Guide
With evolving policies and heightened scrutiny in 2025, securing a Schengen visa has become a more detailed process for Indian travellers. Whether you’re visiting Europe for tourism, education, or business, understanding the latest guidelines can significantly improve your chances of approval.

1. Choose the Right Embassy
While Schengen countries follow a common visa framework, approval rates vary by country. In 2024, Belgium (90.6%), Germany (88.7%), Italy (88.7%), and Switzerland (87.9%) recorded the highest approval rates for Indian applicants.

If you’re visiting multiple countries, apply through the one where you’ll spend the most time or enter first. For faster turnaround, consulates of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia are known to process applications within 7–10 days.

2. Submit a Complete and Accurate Document Set
Incomplete or inconsistent documentation is one of the most common reasons for rejection. Ensure that your application includes:

A valid passport (minimum 3 months validity beyond return date, with at least 2 blank pages)

Duly filled Schengen visa application form with a recent passport-size photo

Confirmed round-trip flight reservations and accommodation bookings

Travel insurance covering at least €30,000 for medical emergencies

3–6 months’ stamped bank statements, salary slips, and Income Tax Returns (ITRs)

A strong cover letter detailing your itinerary, travel purpose, financial standing, and intent to return to India

Avoid irregular financial activity—sudden large deposits can raise red flags. Steady, traceable income is preferable.

3. Apply at the Right Time
Timing is critical. You can apply up to six months before your intended travel date, but it’s ideal to apply 30–60 days in advance. Avoid filing your application less than 15 working days before departure, as appointment availability and document verification can cause delays.

Visa fees: €80 (approx. ₹8,020) for adults, €40 for children aged 6–12

VFS/BLS service charges: ₹1,800–₹2,200 (may vary slightly by location)

4. Prepare for the Interview (If Applicable)
Some embassies, such as Germany and France, may call applicants for an in-person interview. Dress professionally, remain composed, and bring all original documents. Be prepared to clearly explain your travel plans, financial situation, and reasons for returning to India after your trip.

5. Stay Updated on Policy Changes
As of July 2025, Germany has abolished its informal remonstration process. Rejected applicants must now pursue a formal legal appeal—a more complex and time-consuming procedure.

Additionally, the European Union is implementing its new Entry/Exit System (EES). This biometric-based system will replace manual passport stamping and will electronically track all non-EU travellers’ movements across Schengen countries.

Final Word
Navigating the Schengen visa process in 2025 requires attention to detail, complete documentation, and awareness of new regulations. By following a strategic approach and staying informed, Indian travellers can significantly increase their chances of approval and enjoy a hassle-free entry into Europe.

Jaya Bachchan Returns to Comedy with Darwaza

Share

Veteran actress Jaya Bachchan, who was last seen in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani, is gearing up for her next big-screen appearance in a comedy film titled Darwaza. The film also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Wamiqa Gabbi in key roles.

Interestingly, Jaya admitted she was initially unsure about taking on the role, but director Vikas Bahl’s conviction convinced her. Sharing her thoughts, Jaya said, “People often ask me why I don’t act more often, but honestly, where are the roles that truly excite me? I’m not interested in playing the usual mother characters that come my way.”

She further added, “When Vikas approached me with this quirky and fun concept, my first question was if he was absolutely sure about casting me. I’ve dabbled in comedy before — like in Jawani Diwani, which had several light-hearted moments. I’ve always enjoyed playing cheerful, vibrant characters.”

With Darwaza, Jaya is ready to explore her comedic side once again, much to the anticipation of her fans who are eager to see her in a lively, unconventional role.

SSMB29 Kenya Shoot Delayed Amid Unrest, New Locations Eyed

Share

SSMB29, one of Indian cinema’s most anticipated films, boasts a stellar lineup featuring director SS Rajamouli, superstar Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and music composer M. M. Keeravani. However, fans eagerly awaiting production updates may need to wait a bit longer, as the planned shooting schedule has hit an unexpected roadblock.

The film’s next major shooting phase was originally set to commence this month in Kenya. But according to a report from The New York Times, escalating unrest in the country has forced the team to postpone the schedule. Kenya has been witnessing intense protests in recent weeks, fueled by public outrage over the government’s mishandling of financial policies and deep-rooted corruption.

The violent clashes between protestors and security forces have led to the deaths of at least 38 people, including two children, just last week. A previous wave of demonstrations had already claimed 16 lives. Although the Kenya schedule was locked in two months ago, the worsening security situation has made it untenable for Rajamouli’s team to proceed as planned.

As a result, the production is unlikely to kick off this week. The team is now exploring alternative locations, with Tanzania and South Africa emerging as potential options. A revised schedule is expected to be finalized soon, ensuring the shoot resumes in a safer environment.

SSMB29 is also notable for a significant change in Rajamouli’s core crew. The acclaimed director has parted ways with his long-time collaborator, cinematographer K.K. Senthil Kumar, who was instrumental in the visual grandeur of RRR, Baahubali, Eega, and Magadheera. In his place, Rajamouli has brought in P. S. Vinod as the film’s cinematographer—a choice reportedly made by the director himself to bring a fresh visual style to this ambitious project.

Google Launches AI Tools for Indian Agriculture and Language Diversity

Share

Google has announced a suite of open-source artificial intelligence (AI) tools aimed at transforming India’s agricultural sector and enriching cultural and linguistic diversity in global AI models. The initiative includes the launch of the Agricultural Monitoring and Event Detection (AMED) API and a strategic collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur under the company’s Amplify Initiative.

Developed by Google DeepMind in partnership with Google’s Partnerships Innovation team, the AMED API builds upon the earlier Agricultural Landscape Understanding (ALU) API. It integrates satellite imagery, crop labels, and machine learning to provide granular, real-time insights into field activity—including crop types, sowing and harvesting schedules, and land usage over the past three years. Updated fortnightly, the API is designed to empower agri-tech developers, researchers, and policymakers with data-driven tools to improve productivity and climate resilience in farming.

Alok Talekar, Agriculture and Sustainability Research Lead at Google DeepMind, stated that the API will support more effective agricultural interventions by offering precise, real-time information. Startups like TerraStack, incubated at IIT Bombay, are already utilizing Google’s APIs to develop rural land intelligence systems for applications such as climate risk analysis and rural credit assessment.

In parallel, Google is working with IIT Kharagpur through the Amplify Initiative to promote the development of high-quality, hyperlocal datasets in Indian languages. These datasets will be openly available to foster more inclusive and culturally relevant AI systems. The collaboration marks a significant step in building AI that reflects the rich linguistic and cultural fabric of India. The effort is informed by a community-centric and expert-reviewed approach to ensure accuracy and minimize bias.

Dr. Mainack Mandal of IIT Kharagpur described the collaboration as a pivotal moment in global AI development, emphasizing the importance of building systems that resonate with India’s diversity.

This initiative complements Project Vaani, which recently reached a key milestone by contributing over 21,000 hours of Indic language speech audio and 800 hours of transcriptions. The data, sourced from more than 112,000 speakers across 120 districts, is now accessible via India’s Bhashini platform and Hugging Face.

Dr. Partha Talukdar, Language Research Lead at Google DeepMind, reiterated the company’s commitment to creating AI experiences that are natural and intuitive for users across diverse linguistic and cultural contexts.

Google also highlighted the broader impact of its AI research, including applications in maternal health, clinical efficiency, and scientific innovation. The AlphaFold Protein Structure Database, developed by Google DeepMind, is currently being used by over 150,000 researchers in India to accelerate studies on diseases such as cancer and autoimmune disorders.

These new tools and partnerships underscore Google’s ongoing investment in AI for social good, with a particular focus on making technological advancements more accessible and impactful for India’s unique ecosystem.

Triptii Dimri Reflects on Acting, Society, and Dhadak 2

Share

With Dhadak 2 creating a significant buzz in Bollywood, Triptii Dimri is all set to deliver yet another impactful performance. Known for her acclaimed roles in Laila Majnu, Bulbbul, Qala, and the blockbuster Animal, Triptii continues to carve her space as one of the most promising talents in the industry. In a candid chat, she shared her thoughts on acting, relationships, social themes, and her personal aspirations as an actor.

Triptii believes the key to performing well in a sequel like Dhadak 2 is to avoid pressure and stay honest to the craft. She says that trusting the director and the team helped her stay focused. Alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and the crew, she worked day by day without overthinking, allowing the process to stay organic and authentic. She credits the collaborative nature of the project for shaping her character, highlighting how co-actors like Siddhant, who is naturally talented, made her reactions more instinctive. She also praised director Shazia Iqbal for being open to ideas, which made the experience even more enriching.

When asked about her views on inter-caste marriages, Triptii acknowledged that though these issues have long existed in villages, they are still prevalent in cities, sometimes in subtle forms. She pointed out that while some people dismiss such biases as ‘normal,’ the emotional toll on those affected is very real. She feels that the encouraging change today is that people are beginning to question these societal norms, a step forward from earlier times when such matters went unchallenged.

Triptii also expressed her eagerness to explore darker, more complex characters. She cited Kajol’s iconic role in Gupt as an example of the kind of negative role she would love to play. She noted that negative characters are no longer just villains but are often layered with grey shades that add depth. She finds the transformation of seemingly gentle actors into intense roles fascinating, showcasing the true magic of acting.

Speaking about the power of cinema, Triptii believes that films can inspire change by providing emotional education and new perspectives. She feels that while a movie can’t change the world overnight, it can certainly influence minds and encourage personal growth. Seeing a character overcome struggles can motivate viewers to reflect and adapt in their own lives.

Triptii Dimri is gearing up for the release of Dhadak 2, and with her growing repertoire of diverse roles, fans are eager to see what she delivers next.

Chiranjeevi-Bobby Film in Planning, But Budget Concerns Persist

Share

Megastar Chiranjeevi is currently focused on two major commitments — completing the much-delayed Vishwambhara and finishing the recently launched film with director Anil Ravipudi. These projects will keep him busy for the rest of 2025.

Looking ahead to 2026, Chiranjeevi has reportedly given the green signal to a few new ventures, including one with director Bobby, who previously scored a hit with Waltair Veerayya. Despite Bobby’s most recent film Daaku Maharaj falling short both critically and commercially, Chiranjeevi has entrusted him with developing a fresh script.

However, this proposed collaboration is already facing significant budget-related hurdles. With OTT platforms becoming cautious and cutting back on spending for routine commercial films — especially those lacking pan-India appeal — a Chiranjeevi-Bobby film isn’t commanding strong demand in the digital market. This situation limits the potential for lucrative non-theatrical rights sales.

Compounding the challenge is Chiranjeevi’s substantial remuneration and Bobby’s history of working with inflated budgets. For the production team, ensuring a financially viable project while leveraging Chiranjeevi’s star power is proving to be a tricky balancing act.

At present, the film remains in the scripting phase while the team navigates these financial and strategic concerns before moving forward with production plans.

Shruti Haasan Opens Up on Love, Marriage & Motherhood

Share

Versatile actress Shruti Haasan recently got candid about her views on love, marriage, and motherhood during a freewheeling conversation on YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast. Known for her straightforwardness in discussing personal and professional matters, Shruti once again impressed fans with her refreshing honesty.

Shruti revealed that she is currently single and not dating anyone. She expressed that she enjoys her own company and values solitude. Speaking about marriage, she admitted, “I’m petrified by the idea of marriage, and I’m not afraid to say it. I’ve worked really hard to build my own identity, and the thought of attaching that to a piece of paper scares me. But I do believe in commitment, loyalty, and everything that marriage is supposed to represent. I just don’t feel the need for a formal certificate to prove it.”

Reflecting on modern relationships, Shruti noted that many people seek partners out of loneliness rather than genuine connection. “How often do we want a partner simply because we’re lonely, versus actually wanting someone who adds real value to our life? I’m working on embracing solitude and redefining it instead of calling it loneliness,” she shared.

She also spoke about her past breakup, admitting, “I love companionship and would love daily cuddles. But I’ve lived alone since I was 18, and I’ve learned to substitute that emotional space on my own. It’s been a big personal journey for me, especially in the past year.”

On motherhood, Shruti shared her long-standing desire to become a mother but emphasized she wouldn’t want to raise a child alone. “I’ve always wanted to be a mother, but I don’t want to be a single parent. I believe two parents play a crucial role in a child’s life, and I’d want to provide that balance,” she added.

On the professional front, Shruti Haasan is gearing up for the release of Coolie, a highly anticipated film starring Superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film is slated for release on August 14.
