In a serious crackdown on visa fraud, seven individuals from Gujarat were detained at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport after being deported from Dubai for possessing counterfeit Luxembourg Schengen visas. The group, which included Kaushikkumar Patel and Arthkumar Patel, had reportedly planned to visit 29 locations in Luxembourg using forged travel documents.

Authorities revealed that the travel arrangements were made by a local agent named Kisan from Gujarat, who allegedly provided the group with both valid tourist visas and fraudulent employment Schengen visas. During routine inspection, Immigration Officer Vishnu Sawant identified irregularities flagged by Dubai immigration, prompting further investigation and subsequent handover to Sahar police.

Upon detailed scrutiny, it was discovered that the visas lacked essential security features, confirming them as counterfeit. The individuals admitted during interrogation that the agent had assured them the visas would allow unrestricted access and employment across all 29 Schengen countries.

“This case underscores the growing sophistication of visa fraud networks exploiting individuals with dreams of settling abroad,” said a senior officer from the Sahar police station. Authorities have launched an investigation to trace and apprehend the agent responsible for the forgery.

The incident has sparked renewed calls for stringent verification protocols and public awareness campaigns to prevent individuals from falling victim to fraudulent immigration schemes. Further developments in the case are awaited as the investigation continues.
