Ram Pothineni in Talks for Arka Media’s Supernatural Thriller

In a promising new development for Telugu cinema, actor Ram Pothineni is reportedly in advanced talks to star in a grand supernatural thriller backed by Arka Media Works, the prestigious production house behind the Baahubali franchise. The project, currently untitled, is said to be helmed by young director Kishore and is expected to go on floors later this year.
According to industry sources, Arka Media is gearing up for a large-scale, period-based narrative steeped in black magic, mysticism, and supernatural elements. This film marks the banner’s first foray into the horror-thriller genre and is designed to blend epic storytelling with modern cinematic appeal—tapping into the growing appetite for genre-bending thrillers in Tollywood.
The project had initially been in the pipeline with Naga Chaitanya considered for the lead, but scheduling conflicts reportedly caused delays and forced a change in plans. With Ram Pothineni now in talks, the project could take a fresh turn. If finalized, this would mark Ram’s first collaboration with Arka Media Works and a significant shift from his recent run of mass entertainers.
For Arka Media Works, known for critically acclaimed titles like Vedam, Maryada Ramana, Anaganaga O Dheerudu, and Panjaa, this supernatural thriller signals a new creative direction following the global success of Baahubali. Their consistent association with visionary filmmaker S. S. Rajamouli has kept the production house in the spotlight, and this new venture is expected to further diversify their cinematic legacy.
With Ram’s potential involvement and Arka’s reputation for scale and innovation, this supernatural thriller could be one of the most anticipated Telugu films on the horizon.
R. Madhavan on Why Real-Life Couples Struggle with Onscreen Romance

Actor R. Madhavan, known for his nuanced performances and sharp insights, has sparked discussion with his recent comments on onscreen romantic chemistry—particularly among married celebrity couples. While promoting his upcoming Netflix film Aap Jaisa Koi, Madhavan opened up about how real-life relationships can sometimes affect what audiences perceive on screen.
He remarked that married star couples often struggle to create convincing romantic chemistry in films. According to him, the natural “desire” or spark that drives romance on screen tends to be less visible between real-life spouses. Interestingly, he suggested that such chemistry might actually work better between divorced or separated couples, where a certain emotional tension still exists.
Madhavan’s views come at a time when audiences are becoming more vocal about their preferences, demanding age-appropriate pairings and greater realism in romantic narratives. His comments highlight the evolving expectations of viewers, especially in a post-OTT era where authenticity is key.
On the professional front, Madhavan continues to stay active across platforms and is rumored to be playing the role of Mahesh Babu’s father in the highly anticipated film SSMB29, directed by SS Rajamouli.
RK Sagar Reveals Why He Missed Rangasthalam Role

Television actor RK Sagar, best known for his role in the hit serial Mogali Rekulu, recently revealed that he was once considered for a pivotal role in Ram Charan’s blockbuster Rangasthalam. According to Sagar, the offer came on Ram Charan’s own suggestion, and he was in talks to play the elder brother of the lead character—a role that eventually went to Aadhi Pinisetty.
However, Sagar’s hesitation cost him the opportunity. Recalling a bitter past experience, he shared that during the making of Prabhas’ Mr. Perfect, he had been told he would be playing the film’s second male lead. Trusting the narration, he agreed and shot for 15 days. But to his disappointment, what was promised and what was shot turned out to be vastly different. Though he requested the makers to remove his scenes altogether, citing the mismatch, they explained the practical difficulty of doing so and retained his footage in the final cut.
That incident left a lasting impact on Sagar, making him skeptical of film offers that didn’t come with clarity. So when Rangasthalam came his way, he was wary and feared another repetition of that unpleasant experience. He hesitated, unsure whether to commit. By the time he made up his mind, the opportunity had already passed—Aadhi Pinisetty was finalized for the role.
Sagar’s story highlights the struggles faced by many actors who navigate uncertain paths in the film industry, often balancing hope with past disappointments.
Baahubali: A Decade of the Epic That Changed Indian Cinema

It’s been exactly a decade since the release of Baahubali: The Beginning, the film that redefined modern Indian cinema and laid the groundwork for the pan-India film movement. Released on July 10, 2015, and directed by S.S. Rajamouli, Baahubali broke barriers of language and geography, setting new standards in filmmaking, storytelling, and cinematic scale.
The film transformed Prabhas into a nationwide sensation and brought Rajamouli to the forefront of international cinema. With its iconic cliffhanger—“Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?”—the film became a pop culture landmark, and the question itself ranked among the top 10 most searched phrases on Google India in 2015.
Interestingly, the initial casting ideas included Jason Momoa as Bhallaladeva, Sridevi as Shivagami, and Sanjay Dutt as Kattappa. However, the final cast—Rana Daggubati, Ramya Krishna, Satyaraj, Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, and Nasser—delivered unforgettable performances that became etched in the minds of moviegoers.
Prabhas, at the peak of his career, dedicated five years exclusively to the Baahubali franchise, rejecting all other projects. He gained weight up to 105 kg for the mighty Baahubali and trimmed down to 85 kg for the younger Shivudu’s character. Rana Daggubati, too, underwent intense physical transformation, bulking up with over 33 kilos to bring Bhallaladeva to life. To stay in shape for the film, Prabhas reportedly installed a ₹1.5 crore gym in his home.
The Kalakeya tribe’s Kiliki language was another standout aspect. It was entirely invented by Tamil lyricist Madhan Karky, with its own grammar and around 800 words—marking the first time a unique language was created exclusively for an Indian film.
One of the most visually grand elements of Baahubali was the Mahishmati Kingdom set, constructed at Ramoji Film City over 20 acres at a cost of more than ₹25 crore. It has since become a popular tourist attraction. The makers spent over ₹85 crore on VFX, with more than 800 artists from 15 studios across the world contributing to the visual grandeur.
Adding to the film’s epic feel, production designer Sabu Cyril and his team created over 20,000 detailed weapons including swords, armor, and arrows. The entire film was mounted on a budget of ₹200 crore and went on to earn over ₹650 crore at the global box office, making it the second-highest-grossing Indian film at the time.
Despite mixed to negative reviews on its first day in Telugu-speaking states, Baahubali quickly found massive appreciation across North India. Word-of-mouth quickly shifted the perception, and it became a box office storm in every language it released in. The ending of the film, leaving the question of Kattappa’s betrayal unanswered, created unprecedented excitement for the sequel.
Baahubali achieved many international milestones. It became the first non-English film to be screened at the prestigious Royal Albert Hall in London. In Kerala, a special poster spanning over 50,000 square feet was erected, earning a Guinness World Record. The film was released not just in five Indian languages, but also in international languages like English, Mandarin, and Thai. For global audiences, Rajamouli even trimmed 20 minutes from the original cut to improve accessibility.
In terms of accolades, the film won Best Feature Film and Best Special Effects at the 63rd National Film Awards, making it the first Telugu film to receive the top honor. It also bagged 14 Nandi Awards, including Best Director, Best Feature Film, Best Music Director, and Best Cinematography.
Even after ten years, Baahubali stands tall as a landmark in Indian cinema, having inspired countless filmmakers and reshaped the ambitions of the Indian film industry. It is more than just a film—it is a phenomenon that sparked a movement and brought Indian storytelling to the world stage.
Revanth Reddy Blames KCR-Jagan Pact for Telangana Water Woes

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has launched a scathing attack on former Chief Ministers K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, blaming their “mutual understanding” for Telangana’s ongoing water crisis.
Speaking at a press conference in Hyderabad after his return from Delhi, Revanth addressed the contentious issue of Krishna river water sharing between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He alleged that had KCR taken a firm stand earlier, Telangana would not be in such a precarious position today.
Revanth accused KCR and Jagan of working together behind the scenes, making decisions that favored Andhra Pradesh at the cost of Telangana’s interests. He particularly criticized KCR for neglecting Hyderabad’s water needs, despite the city’s reliance on inter-state river projects.
The CM recalled that KCR had once claimed there were no disputes over river waters and that Godavari waters could be used freely. “But today, reality has proven otherwise,” said Revanth. He added that KCR’s silence and indirect support to Jagan allowed Andhra Pradesh to gain an unfair advantage.
“Who gave KCR the right to gamble with the lives of Telangana’s people? You may be friends with Jagan, but why should Telangana pay the price?” Revanth questioned.
Citing projects like Banakacharla, Revanth alleged that decisions on water releases were always designed to benefit Andhra first, leaving Telangana to suffer delayed and reduced allocations. These decisions, he claimed, have led to significant water losses for the state.
Revanth made it clear that his government is now committed to taking a stronger stand in defending Telangana’s rightful share of river waters and exposing the past mishandlings that contributed to the current crisis.
Amit Shah Hints at Retirement, Eyes Spiritual Life

In a move that has surprised many within political circles, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has hinted at stepping away from active politics in the near future. At 60 years old, Shah remains one of the most influential figures in Indian politics, known for his decades-long association with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his key role in the BJP’s rise to dominance.
For years, speculation has surrounded Shah’s political future, with many viewing him as the natural successor to PM Modi, especially given the BJP’s informal age cap of 75 for leadership roles. His organizational brilliance, deep political acumen, and strategic mind made him a strong contender for the top post.
However, Shah appears to be setting a different course. During a recent interaction with women from cooperative societies, he spoke candidly about his future plans, revealing that he intends to retire from active politics and dedicate himself to spiritual pursuits and natural farming.
Post-retirement, Shah expressed a deep desire to study ancient Indian scriptures such as the Vedas and Upanishads, embracing a quieter, more reflective phase of life.
Shah’s political journey began with the RSS and ABVP during his student years. Hailing from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, he worked closely with Modi during BJP’s formative years in the state. Over the past three decades, he has held key positions, including Gujarat’s Home Minister and currently, the Union Home Minister.
This unexpected announcement marks a significant shift in the political landscape, as one of the BJP’s most powerful leaders signals a move away from power and toward a life rooted in spirituality and sustainability.
Praveena Paruchuri’s Directorial Debut ‘Kothapallilo Okappudu’ Set for July 18

After proving her mettle as both an actor and producer, Praveena Paruchuri is now stepping into the director’s chair with her debut film ‘Kothapallilo Okappudu’ — a quirky romantic tale set against a rural backdrop. Backed by Paruchuri Vijaya Praveena Arts and presented by Rana Daggubati, the film is gearing up for a theatrical release on July 18th.
The story follows Rama Krishna, a simple small-town guy who is madly in love with Savitri. She is well aware of his feelings and one day asks him to meet her at a haystack. Rama Krishna arrives, full of hope and excitement. But what unfolds is anything but ordinary — the narrative hints at a deeper, possibly divine mystery hidden within this rural love story.
Though the story is penned by Gurukiran Bathula, it is Praveena Paruchuri’s directorial vision that stands out. The film features Manoj Chandra and Monika T in the lead roles, supported by a strong ensemble cast including Praveena Paruchuri, Usha Bonela, Ravindra Vijay, and Benerjee.
Visually, the film benefits from the lens of cinematographer Petros Antoniadis, while Varun Unni’s background score elevates the emotional beats of the narrative.
With its refreshing storyline, rooted setting, and strong creative team, Kothapallilo Okappudu promises to be a unique rural entertainer with a mysterious twist.
War 2 Aims for ₹175 Cr Day 1 with NTR & Hrithik

The much-awaited action entertainer War 2 is gearing up for a grand release on August 14, with Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr. leading the charge. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, this sequel is not only high on star power but is also creating massive buzz in trade circles for its record-breaking box office ambitions.
The makers have reportedly set an ambitious goal — to gross ₹175 crore worldwide on Day 1. If achieved, this would surpass Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan (₹130 Cr Day 1 gross) and bring Bollywood closer to competing with pan-India blockbusters like Pushpa 2, which holds the top spot with a staggering ₹250 Cr release-day gross.
To maximize reach and revenue, the team has already locked exclusive IMAX screens and is planning a massive worldwide release. Adding to the hype is NTR’s pan-India appeal, especially in Telugu-speaking states and overseas markets such as the USA, UAE, and Australia. Combined with Hrithik Roshan’s fanbase in North India and global markets, War 2 is being seen as a potential crossover success for Bollywood.
However, War 2 faces stiff competition. It’s set to clash with Rajinikanth’s Coolie, another high-octane pan-India film releasing on the same day. This clash may limit screen count in Tamil Nadu, parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Kerala—territories crucial for mega openings.
Despite the hurdles, trade experts believe War 2 could be a game-changer. If it hits the ₹175 Cr target, it could mark Bollywood’s return to dominance in pan-India cinema and secure Hrithik Roshan’s position among the Day 1 kings.
