Hari Hara Veera Mallu Faces Backlash Over Historical Misrepresentation

Share

Hari Hara Veera Mallu, the much-anticipated historical action drama starring Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan, is facing controversy just weeks ahead of its slated release on July 24. Directed by Krish and Jyothi Krishna, and featuring Nidhhi Agerwal as the female lead, the film has come under fire from members of the Mudiraj community for allegedly misrepresenting a revered historical figure.

Community leaders allege that the central character in the film appears to be heavily inspired by Panduga Sayanna, a celebrated Telangana folk hero known as the “Robin Hood of Telangana” for his legendary acts of redistributing wealth from feudal landlords to the underprivileged. According to them, the film presents a fictionalized and distorted version of Sayanna’s life, diminishing the legacy and pride associated with him, particularly among Bahujan and backward communities.

In a press conference held at the Hyderabad Press Club, Mudiraj representatives criticized the filmmakers, Mega Surya Productions, accusing them of inserting commercially driven and historically inaccurate elements. They voiced concerns that such portrayals not only disrespect Sayanna’s contribution but also dilute the cultural identity of marginalized groups. The leaders also called upon other Bahujan communities to support their demand for accountability and warned of potential protests, including efforts to block the film’s release if their grievances are not addressed.

For Pawan Kalyan, Hari Hara Veera Mallu marks a high-profile return to cinema, aiming to reestablish his presence on the silver screen and reconnect with Telugu audiences. However, with rising tensions surrounding the film’s content, its road to release may face unforeseen hurdles unless the controversy is amicably resolved.

Don Lee’s Photos with Telugu Stars Fuel Spirit Speculations

Share

For the past few months, speculation has been rife in film circles about Korean actor Don Lee (of Train to Busan and Eternals fame) joining the cast of Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s highly anticipated film Spirit. The rumors gained further traction when Don Lee shared a poster of Salaar 2 on his Instagram, sparking widespread excitement among fans.

Now, fresh fuel has been added to the fire as several Telugu actors have been spotted with Don Lee in the USA, intensifying speculation around the film. Actor Tarun was the first to post a selfie with Don Lee on social media, instantly sparking rumors of his comeback with Spirit. Adding weight to this speculation is the fact that both Tarun and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga reside in the same gated community—raising eyebrows and expectations.

Soon after, actor Srikanth also shared a picture with Don Lee, which has now led to speculation that he too may be part of the Spirit cast. These unexpected photos and social media interactions have sent fans into a frenzy, with many eagerly awaiting confirmation of the cast lineup.

Spirit, which stars Prabhas as a tough and intense police officer, features Tripti Dimri as the female lead. The film is expected to begin production later this year. With growing buzz and international star power potentially joining the mix, Spirit is shaping up to be one of the most awaited pan-India films.

Madhumita on Kaalidhar Laapata and Her Multilingual Film Journey

Share

In an exclusive conversation with Deccan Chronicle, filmmaker Madhumita opened up about her recently released Hindi film Kaalidhar Laapata, a heartfelt adaptation of the Tamil hit KD, and also shared exciting insights into her upcoming Telugu and Tamil projects.

The idea to adapt KD into Hindi took shape after the original film received widespread acclaim and interest from industries including Bollywood and even Korea. Madhumita was clear from the outset that she didn’t want to make a frame-by-frame remake. Instead, she rewrote the characters and reimagined the story to suit the cultural and emotional textures of the Hindi-speaking heartland. For her, this made Kaalidhar Laapata an adaptation rather than a remake, allowing her to stay true to the spirit of the original while crafting something uniquely relevant for a different audience.

With five Tamil films and one Telugu project behind her, Madhumita believes her South Indian cinema background has enriched her perspective as a filmmaker. She attributes much of her artistic growth to those experiences and carries with her a piece of advice from the legendary K. Viswanath—to always focus on universal human emotions. This approach, she feels, helps her create films that connect across languages and cultures, ensuring that her storytelling remains heartfelt and resonant regardless of the industry.

Her collaboration with Abhishek Bachchan on Kaalidhar Laapata came through Nikhil Advani. When she narrated the story to Abhishek, his instant enthusiasm—asking “When do we shoot?”—gave her the confidence that he truly believed in the project. Madhumita described working with him as a dream come true, noting his sincerity, respect, and ability to dive deep into the character’s layers. Their detailed discussions on body language, costumes, and emotional beats helped shape Kaalidhar into a character with soul. She firmly believes no one else could have portrayed him with such simplicity, innocence, and authenticity.

She feels Kaalidhar Laapata will deeply resonate with Hindi audiences because of its emotional warmth and relatability. In her words, the film offers comfort and hope, acting as a reminder that even in the darkest times, one is never truly alone. The story is about connection, reassurance, and the human need to feel seen—universal themes that go beyond language barriers. Watching the film, she hopes, will feel like receiving a warm hug or sipping a comforting cup of chai.

Looking ahead, Madhumita has a packed schedule. She is currently preparing for a psychological thriller in Tamil, set to go on floors in September. Additionally, she’s working on a high-budget Telugu OTT project—a gripping hostage drama with a star-studded cast. Though she’s tight-lipped about the lead actor, she teases that she’s a long-time fan. Beyond that, she’s also developing an international monster film, showcasing her eagerness to explore different genres and expand her creative horizons. Grateful for the opportunities, Madhumita promises to continue pouring her heart into every project she takes on.

Tamannaah Likely to Sizzle in Prabhas’ The Raja Saab

Share

Glam diva Tamannaah Bhatia, who has firmly established herself as the go-to star for high-voltage special numbers, is reportedly in advanced talks with the makers of the much-anticipated The Raja Saab, featuring Prabhas.

A celebrity manager close to the project shared, “Tamannaah has become a lucky charm for big-budget films. Her special songs not only amplify the film’s commercial appeal but also create massive buzz before release.”

Her sizzling performances in chart-topping tracks like Kaavaalaa from Jailer, the electrifying Aaj Ki Raat from Stree 2, and her number in Raid 2 have cemented her position as one of the most sought-after dancers in the industry.

What sets Tamannaah apart is her ability to deliver complex choreography with grace and precision — often within tight shooting schedules. “Special songs usually require just 3–4 days of filming, so directors need actresses who are quick, professional, and camera-ready. Tamannaah fits that bill perfectly,” the source adds.

With The Raja Saab eyeing a grand worldwide release, Tamannaah’s addition could enhance the film’s pan-India appeal. If finalized, her presence could inject even more energy into this Prabhas-starrer.

Interestingly, Tamannaah joins a growing league of leading ladies turning heads with special songs. Recently, Sreeleela wowed audiences with her energetic number in Pushpa: The Rule, while stars like Nora Fatehi, Pooja Hegde, Kajal Aggarwal, and Shruti Haasan have all made their mark in similar performances.

“These are no longer just ‘item songs.’ With top heroines stepping in, they’ve evolved into glamorous highlights that elevate the film’s entertainment quotient,” the insider concludes.

Anirudh Joins Yash’s TOXIC for Kannada Debut

Share

Yash’s much-anticipated film TOXIC continues to stay in the limelight for multiple reasons. Marking his first major project post the KGF franchise, the film is currently in production and is slated for a grand theatrical release on March 19, 2026.

Helmed by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Geetu Mohandas, TOXIC is being developed as a pan-Indian venture, riding high on the massive popularity Yash has gained across regional and national markets.

Initially, KGF composer Ravi Basrur was associated with the project and even worked on the birthday teaser released earlier this year, leading fans to believe he would also handle the film’s soundtrack. However, fresh developments suggest a major change on the musical front.

Reliable industry sources have revealed that Anirudh Ravichander has been roped in as the music director for TOXIC, marking his debut in Kannada cinema. Known for delivering chart-topping albums in Tamil and Telugu, Anirudh’s entry is expected to elevate the film’s mass appeal and sonic identity.

While the production team is yet to officially confirm the change in composer, insiders say that Anirudh has already begun preliminary work on the score.

More details regarding the film’s ensemble cast and technical crew are expected to be officially announced in the coming months. With a strong creative team and Yash at the forefront, TOXIC is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of 2026.

Mahesh Babu in Legal Trouble Over Real Estate Fraud Allegations

Share

Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu has landed in legal trouble after the Ranga Reddy District Consumer Forum issued fresh notices to him in a real estate fraud case. The case involves Sai Surya Developers, a company for which Mahesh Babu served as the brand ambassador.

According to the latest reports, Sai Surya Developers allegedly duped several buyers by advertising unauthorized real estate projects in Balapur village using Mahesh Babu’s image in their promotional material. Victims—ranging from middle-class families to doctors—claimed they were misled by these ads and purchased plots priced at around ₹34.80 lakh each. It was only later that they discovered the layout showcased in the brochures did not even exist.

The complainants alleged that the developers falsely claimed to have all the necessary permissions and highlighted luxurious amenities in the brochures, which featured Mahesh Babu prominently. Despite repeated follow-ups, the victims received only partial refunds—approximately ₹15 lakh each in multiple installments.

A case has now been filed against three parties: Sai Surya Developers (first respondent), its owner Kancherla Satish Chandragupta (second respondent), and Mahesh Babu (third respondent). The petitioners argued that the actor’s endorsement gave the fraudulent project legitimacy, influencing their decision to invest.

The Consumer Forum has summoned all three respondents to appear in person or via legal representatives on the upcoming Monday. The forum will investigate and determine the accountability of each party involved.

Meanwhile, a recent Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigation revealed that Mahesh Babu was paid a total of ₹5.90 crore for his role as brand ambassador—₹2.50 crore of which was reportedly paid in cash. When summoned by the ED, Mahesh Babu requested more time to appear, citing prior shooting commitments.
