Nadendla joins BJP, what about son?

Share

The joining of veteran Congress leader and former chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh Nadendla Bhaskar Rao into the Bharatiya Janata Party came as a surprise to many people, but analysts say there is a strategy behind it.

Nadendla has been away from active politics for over three decades now. In fact, nobody in the present generation politics acknowledges him as a leader.

Only seniors remember him as a person who served as the chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh for a period of one month, when he dethroned legendary actor and Telugu Desam Party founder-president N T Rama Rao.

He floated Prajaswamya Telugu Desam Party after he came out of the TDP, but it lost deposits in all the places. Later, he rejoined the Congress but has not been playing any role in the party.

Now, the question is what would Nadendla gain by joining the BJP at this stage? And what would the BJP gain by admitting a leader who is a spent force and has been away from politics for several years.

Sources say the BJP is trying to lay trap for Nadendla’s son Nadendla Manohar, former speaker of the assembly and still a popular leader in Andhra.

Manohar, who quit the Congress a few months before the assembly elections in AP and joined Jana Sena, has gone silent after the debacle in the elections.

Apparently, the BJP wants to lure Manohar by first attracting his father. If Nadenda family joins the BJP, it will give considerable strength in Guntur district, the party leaders hope.

Let us see what Manohar will do now.

Share

Actor and BJP leader Jaya Prada has been caught in weird incident teaching wrong spelling to school students. This video of Jaya Prada committing a blunder is going viral and netizens are laughing and trolling her. The other shocking thing about this episode is the school teachers were also present when Jaya Prada misspelled ‘Country’ but did not object or correct her.

After Jaya Prada’s visit, the Basic Education Officer of Rampur said the word was later corrected and students were taught the proper spelling.

Piracy Is Not A Threat, Critics Are -Arjun Reddy Director

Share

In what could be termed as the most sensational description anyone would ever give about critics, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga of ‘Arjun Reddy’ fame has ripped critics apart. His jibes are targeted at Bollywood critics though. Despite some famous critics giving 1-2 stars to Kabir Singh, the film collected more than 215+ crores already and here comes the director unleashing his fury on the Bollywood critics.

“Okay, these critics didn’t like me, that’s fine. But why do you talk about only one single aspect called feminism? Other than my directing and writing, there are 22 more crafts including terrific visuals, colour grading, sound design, background score and else. Why don’t you talk about them?” asks Sandeep Reddy, as he further added, “These type of pseudo-intellectuals are a threat to the film industry”.

He further compared piracy and critics, hitting a final nail into the coffin. “At least the piracy guys are a bit honest because they watch piracy film out of curiosity. But these type of critics who are parasites on film industry literally try to spoil the experience and kill it”.

During his interview with popular critic Anupama Chopra, the director made these comments and he has criticised the likes of Rajeev Masand and Sucharita Tyagi who have given terrible ratings to Kabir Singh.

Few have hailed the Congress leader for his simplicity while a few said having resigned as Congress president, he has not work and so he is keeping himself busy by watching movies.

The Congress party is in a huge crisis like never before. Rahul Gandhi is stubborn to lead the party and is asking high command to appoint a non-Gandhi leader. We have to see how Congress comes out of this distress.

Karnataka crisis: 13 MLAs Resigned

Share

The coalition government appears to be heading for a split and also for crash. Nearly 13 MLAs belonging to the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) parties have sought Assembly speaker’s appointment to submit their resignation. Among the 13, two are from JD(S) while the rest 11 are from Congress.

All the lawmakers have reached Karnataka Assembly Speaker Ramesh Kumar’s office on Saturday afternoon. As this news hit the headlines, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief called on important leaders and trying their best to pacify the upset MLAs.

If the speaker accepts these MLAs resignation then the coalition government strength will come down to 105 and to stake claims of government, the magic figure is 116.

Meanwhile the BJP is closing observing this political developments. The saffron party has 105 MLAs in assembly and one of the leaders said BJP has nothing to do with Congress and JD(S) MLAs quitting. However, they did not make any comment what if the coalition government collapses.

Share

Not just one or two, but many stars who have watched Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya and praised hero Naveen Polishetty and director Swaroop RSJ big time. Of course, the film deserves an appreciation for its thrilling content and many expected that the director will get many big offers now.

Reports are coming that Swaroop has found the right hero already for the kind of success Athreya has become. He is said to have narrated a storyline to natural star Nani and the two have agreed in principle to work on the project after Nani wraps his current commitments in hand.

Whether they come up with a crime thriller or any other film is not known, but as the director impressed everyone with his detailing, surely any kind of genre incluidng crime, romance, thriller or a family drama will look better. However, hope that this director will not fall flatter like those directors who impressed with first flick and failed to recreate magic with second movie.

Why Can’t Modi Defeat KCR? Owaisi Has Answer!

Share

Bharatiya Janata Party has been conquering one state after the other in the entire country because of the magic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and playing Hindutva card.

But it is impossible for the BJP or Modi to defeat the Telangana Rashtra Samithi government in Telangana headed by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, according to his friend and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi.

He told a news agency that Narendra Modi cannot defeat the Telangana chief minister electorally, for the simple reason that KCR is a stronger Hindu than the Prime Minister.

“The TRS president is a staunch Hindu, compared to Modi or any other BJP leader. If Modi goes to two temples, KCR will go to six temples,” he said.

Owaisi said the BJP might be under the impression that it would form a government in Telangana in the next elections. But BJP knows that it cannot use Hindutva to electorally defeat KCR, as the latter was more religious than any other BJP or RSS leader.

The MIM clarified that he was not against Hinduism, but against Hindutva.

Buzz: Bandla Ganesh Trying His Level Best

Share

Despite the fact that Bandla Ganesh made tall claims about his political beginnings, present and future, nothing concreted happened there. And before that, he lost a huge chunk of investment through his hyped production ventures, where the exorbitant making costs never allowed him to make profits.

To restart his innings in Telugu films, Ganesh is now looking forward to an acting career and already there is a buzz that he got a plum role in director Anil Ravipudi’s Sarileru Neekevvaru, which features Mahesh in the lead. But to get more meaty roles, it is being heard that the senior comedian is trying in his own way.

There are reports that Ganesh is actually throwing parties to some of the young heroes and directors with a hope that they might cast him in their upcoming ventures. He’s said to be treating these celebs to superior food and stuff at happening five star hotels of the city.

Of course, networking could surely win roles for actors, and we have to see how it favours Bandla Ganesh.

Valmiki Name For A Fighting Movie? Complaint Filed

Share

It’s surely tough in India to make films without hurt cast sentiments if the present scenario is anything to go by. Other day, few community members from Valmiki caste have filed a police complaint on the makers of Varun Tej’s upcoming film “Valmiki”.

Other day, representatives of Valmiki Reservation Porata Samithi has filed a complaint with Guntur police accusing that director Harish Shankar and producer Gopi Achanta are making money on the name of great sage Maharshi Valmiki. “How come a commercial film with fightings all over get named as Valmiki? When you are remaking a film from Tamil Nadu and name it in a way to insult our deity, we won’t allow such things to happen”, they warned, requesting police to take action on the filmmakers under Section 298A of outraging religious beliefs.

Responding on the same, Harish Shankar is quick to point out, “Even the Valmiki they are talking about wrote about Lord Rama who did the fighting for the sake of peace. And our film’s hero name is not Valmiki, and we are not spoiling great Valmiki’s name”, adding that they will consider the concerns of the community anyway.

Buzz: Hero Ram And His Identical Twin Brother

Share

Currently busy with the promotions of iSmart Shankar, hero Ram Pothineni is expecting to score a hit very soon with his film as it is set for July 18th release. And then, Ram has some interesting projects coming up his way but he wants to take up the fight with his identical twin brother, we hear.

Well, that is the concept of his upcoming film where the actor will be seen in a dual role, essaying the roles of two separated twin brothers (like in Hello Brother movie) and ends up as suspects in the murder of a businessman. This film happens to be a remake of Tamil hit movie ‘Thadam’ which has Arun Vijay featuring in the dual roles.

While director Kishore Tirumala who made Nenu Sailaja and Vunnadi Okate Zindagi with Ram, has narrated a new story to the actor, we hear that the hero has suggested the director do this remake movie instead. Reports are coming that Kishore has already started the Telugu dialogue version of the movie, which will go to floors soon.

Naidu’s landlord indulged in lands scams!

Share

Prominent industrialist and realtor Lingamaneni Ramesh, in whose leased residence on the banks of Krishna river at Vundavalli Telugu Desam Party president and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu has been staying, amassed huge wealth through illegal methods.

This was the allegation levelled by YSR Congress party leader and Mangalagiri MLA alla Ramakrishna Reddy.

He alleged that Lingamaneni, with the backing of Naidu, had resorted to illegal real estate activity in his constituency and made big money.

“He had done illegal layouts in 40 acres of encroached lands and developed real estate ventures without following rules. He constructed luxurious villas and sold each of them for Rs 5 crore, though he had shown the registered value of the land at Rs 4,000 per square yard,” Reddy said.

The MLA further alleged that Lingamaneni had evaded building permit fee and layout fee to the Kaza gram panchayat till now.

“The total fee he had evaded so far is more than Rs 50 crore. What is worse, he failed cases against the same panchayat and managed the cases,” he pointed out.

Reddy said he would request the chief minister to order a vigilance inquiry into the land scams of Lingamaneni that ran into more than Rs 250 crore.

“Naidu remained a silent spectator to Lingamaneni’s illegal activities and protected him, only because he had been given the guest house on lease at Vundavalli,” he alleged.

Final countdown begins at 2019 World Cup

Share

The cricket World Cup in England has reached its final countdown. Australia, India, England and New Zealand have emerged victorious from the group stage to reach the semi-finals. None of these sides have a clean and unblemished record and that is precisely why predicting a winner is truly foolhardy.

Pakistan got their act together very late in the tournament, whereas Bangladesh impressed with the way they played against most of their opponents. Shakib Al Hasan, their all-rounder, has been the player of the World Cup thus far and the young Bangladesh team is developing into a very potent unit.

For Afghanistan, their participation at the highest stage of world cricket will give them immense experience and with their talented pool of players, a bit more exposure against the best will only make them better.

South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies were disappointing. All the three of them were potential semi-finalists but they lacked tactic and discipline. They will now need to go back to the drawing board to chart out their way ahead.

Australia, the present cup holders and the most successful side in the World Cup’s history, look like a very professional unit. Their top order batters are in good form but they have shown weakness in their middle and lower order batting. Their wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey is the only shining light at present and with Glenn Maxwell struggling to find form, Australia rely heavily on their top four to get them to a respectable total. Their strength lies in their fast bowling and their aggressive and positive approach to the game. Captain Aaron Finch is batting well and with David Warner, Steve Smith and the underrated Usman Khawaja to support him, they look like a formidable unit.

England must be breathing a sigh of relief. The hosts and the tournament favourites were on the verge of being knocked out in the group stage. They looked like the best all-round side on paper before the tournament began and in the initial stages, but with a few big losses, they went completely into disarray. A convincing win against India and then demolishing New Zealand to qualify has given the English side just the right momentum and confidence to make them feel like a giant killer. They have a very strong batting and bowling unit that, when in unison, can be very destructive. Funnily, their fortune changed once their opener Jason Roy came back into the side from his injury. Roy and Jonny Bairstow now look the most fearsome opening pair in the tournament. Joe Root gives them just the right balance for all their other batters to make merry thereafter. England will most likely play India in their semifinal encounter and having beaten them quite convincingly, especially when they were on the verge of being knocked out, they will definitely be in a good frame of mind ahead of the encounter.

New Zealand, have been the most consistent performing side in all the 44 years of World Cup history. Unfortunately, they have never won the coveted trophy. They were runners-up in 2015 after losing to Australia in the final and will most probably face them again in the semi-final this year. New Zealand started the tournament in fine fettle, but their loss against India and England in their last two matches must have dented their confidence significantly. Although they have a very capable bowling side, their batting depends entirely on their captain Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor. In order for them to win, their other batters need to come to the party or else they will struggle to progress.

India, with just one hiccup against England, moved quite fluently into the semi-final stage. They too look to be a side which is completely reliant on the top three batters, who fortunately for them have delivered consistently. Both Rohit Sharma with four centuries under his belt and captain Virat Kohli have been magnificent in ensuring the team reaches a good score. Their success has still not tested the weak middle and lower order batters. India, even after the nine games have not been able to stabilize their batting order. This could be a very worrying factor, especially in the knockout stage, as teams by then are quite settled and structured.

Rishabh Pant has captured the number four position, but his technique, as well as that of Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya’s against the ball leaving them outside the off-stump is a bit of a worry. Former captain MS Dhoni has kept the tail wagging only by his experience and smartness. His tactics at times, have been difficult to understand. One gets the feeling that as the wise old man of the team, it is his responsibility to carry his teammates and the side on his shoulders. He needs to execute his skills with an open and carefree mind and play without the unnecessary burden that he seems to have put on himself. An aggressive Dhoni is far better than a subdued and calculative one.

The wickets in the last stages, one hopes, are newly laid, fresh and lively strips. The use of played-on wickets has been an area of concern and criticism during the group matches. In the second innings it becomes very slow, making stroke-play that much more difficult.

India have three gold coins in their side. The best batter, Rohit Sharma and the best bowler in Jasprit Bumrah along with the most dynamic player in Virat Kohli. Rated as the number one side in the world, they do at present look like the “Lord of the Jungle”.

Karnataka crisis: 5 Congress, 3 JD-MLAs set to resign

Share

Bengaluru: In a potential crisis for the Congress-JDS government in Karnataka, eight MLAs from the ruling coalition went to meet the Speaker of the state Assembly on Saturday, suggesting that they could resign.

Out of the eight legislators, five are from the Congress and three from Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S), according to sources.

The Speaker K.R.Ramesh Kumar, however, was not in office and the MLAs were waiting for him, sources said.

One of the Congress MLAs Ramalinga Reddy told reporters here that he was waiting for the Speaker to submit his resignation.

“I have decided to resign from the Congress, with which I have been associated for over four decades, as there is no respect or value for senior leaders in the party,” Reddy told reporters outside Vidhana Soudha in the city centre.

Reddy represents the BTM Layout Assembly segment in the city’s southwest suburb.

The other four Congress MLAs waiting for the Speaker are Ramesh Jarkiholi, B.C. Patil, Shivram Hebbar and Mahesh Kumathahalli.

The JD-S legislators at the Speaker’s office are its former state president A.H. Vishwanath, Gopalaiah and M. Narayana Gowda.

D.K. Sivakumar, senior Congress leader and the party’s trouble-shooter, also reached the Assembly saying that there would be no problem for the government as he was going to speak to the legislators.

“They are my friends, they will not resign,” he said.

In the 225-member Assembly, the Congress-JDS led combine has 117 members, just three more than the required majority of 114. The Opposition BJP has 105 MLAs.

If the eight MLAs of the ruling coalition resign, it will become a minority government.

Though Congress legislator Anand Singh from Vijayanagara Assembly segment submitted his resignation letter to the Speaker on July 1, it has not been accepted till date.

So, Kesineni Not Joining BJP?

Share

Ever since four Rajya Sabha members from Telugu Desam Party defected to the Bharatiya Janata Party en masse, speculations were doing rounds that TDP MP from Vijayawada Kesineni Srinivas alias Nani would also jump the fence and join the BJP sooner or later.

In fact, speculations were doing rounds from the day Kesineni met senior BJP leader and Union minister Nitin Gadkari on June 28 to take the latter’s blessings.

His rejection of TDP whip post in Lok Sabha through a Facebook message lent credence to these speculations.

Even BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana also hinted at Kesineni’s possibility of joining the BJP stating that he could be in touch with the party’s central leadership.

The speculations did not end even after Kesineni subtly denied these rumours, saying he would join the BJP only if party president N Chandrababu Naidu joined the YSR Congress party.

However, Kesineni’s harsh comments against four defected TDP Rajya Sabha members – Y S Chowdary, CM Ramesh, TG Venkatesh and G Mohan Rao – on Saturday gave clear indications that he is not going to join the BJP.

Taking pot shots at the four MPs on his Facebook page, Kesineni ridiculed their contention that they had joined the BJP in the larger interest of the State.

“The Union budget presented in Lok Sabha on Friday made no allocation to the state. Now, people can understand well the intentions of the four MPs in switching over to the BJP — whether it was in their own interest or in the interest of the state,” he said.
