Jagan Reddy elected YSRCP Legislature Party leader

Amaravati: Newly-elected legislators of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh on Saturday unanimously elected party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as their leader, paving the way for his swearing-in as the new chief minister of the state.
All 151 legislators, including Jagan Mohan Reddy, attended the meeting held at the latter’s residence at Tadepalli in the state capital region Amaravati.
Senior leader Botsa Satyanarayana proposed Jagan Reddy’s name as the leader of YSRCP Legislature Party and it was seconded by Dharmana Prasad Rao and other top leaders.
The meeting began with Jagan, as YSRCP president is popularly known, garlanding the bust of his father and late chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He was greeted by the newly-elected MLAs.
YSRCP stormed to power on Thursday by winning 151 seats in the 175-member Assembly. It also won 22 out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats.
The meeting of newly-elected MLAs was followed by the meeting of party’s Lok Sabha members.
Jagan Reddy, along with some top leaders of the party, will later leave for Hyderabad, where they will meet Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to submit the resolution of Jagan Reddy’s election as the YSRCP Legislature Party leader.
The Governor will then invite Jagan Reddy to form the government.
The young leader has already announced that he will take oath as the chief minister on May 30 at Vijayawada.
Ravi Prakash in Bangalore?
Fugitive from justice, ex-TV9 boss Ravi Prakash is believed to be hiding in Bangalore. Why Bangalore?
Neither YS Jagan nor KCR is favourably disposed towards Ravi Prakash leaving the latter with no options to negotiate a compromise in the two Telugu States.
Therefore, the disgraced journalist is allegedly negotiating with the BJP leaders there so that the Centre might step in and save him from his self-created mess.
At this juncture, it is only the BJP that can protect him and Ravi Prakash’s strategy is therefore understandable. Meanwhile, another amusing incident took place.
A senior journalist of TV5 went and got himself clicked with Amit Shah. Maybe the poor fellow senses a threat as well. It seems to be a long, bleak road ahead for the ‘Men in Yellow’.
Ramana Deekshitulu back in action?
The whole of Andhra Pradesh is familiar with the name of ex-TTD Chief Priest Ramana Deekshitulu.
A hue controversy erupted when Ramana Deekshitulu was forced into retirement by the previous TDP government since he had crossed the age of 65.
Deekshitulu had lambasted the government by saying that the stipulations did not apply to hereditary posts such as those of temple priests and questioned the TDP of the need to change age-old practices.
He found support from the BJP and YSRCP who said they would abolish retirement or the posts of temple priests.
Deekshitulu also created a flutter when he visited YS Jagan at ‘Lotus Pond’.
The TDP tried to question Deekshitulu’s credibility by claiming that he had a picture of YSR in his home, framed on the wall. The issue of Ramana Deekshitulu is now in the ‘Court’.
Meanwhile, following the landslide victory of the YSRCP, Deekshitulu who had met and blessed Jagan again on the eve of elections said it was the beginning of Rama Rajyam and end of ‘Rakshasa Rajyam’ in Andhra Pradesh.
Despite the matter being sub-judice, Deekshitulu is strongly expected to make a comeback into the holy shrine in one form or the other.
More than political affiliations though, what is of paramount importance is that the age-old practices and customs of the holy temple are in no way disturbed unless sanctioned by the experts concerned.
For having appointed a Christian Anitha as TTD Board Member, we can see the fate that has accrued to the TDP Party.
Therefore, YS Jagan would be well-advised to tread with extreme caution in matters related to Tirumala.

Abhinetry 2 Trailer: Neither Excites Nor Entertains
Abhinetry directed by Vijay was one of the well made horror films with an interesting premise.
It was not run of the mill horror comedies that are being made in huge numbers lately. But the sequel to Abhinetry seems to be the one that follows the current trend.
Apparently, makers are disappointed with the original’s bad box office performance that they made the sequel fit into the regular horror comedies that get good reception at the ticket windows.
Abhinetry 2 trailer has more comedy than horror, which is why it doesn’t excite much. Neither the comedy is enjoyable.
It has Tamanna, Prabhu Deva and Nandita Shwetha playing the leads with regular supporting cast like Kovai Sarala and Saptagiri taking care of the comedy department.
Abhinetry 2 is coming on May 31 in the theaters.
Jagan records highest victory margin in Andhra polls

Amaravati: YSR Congress Party leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is all set to take oath as the new Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh next week, was elected to the state Assembly with the highest margin of over 90,000 votes while Malladi Vishnu of his party won the election with lowest margin of 25 votes.
Jagan Reddy was re-elected from Pulivendula constituency in Kadapa district with a margin of 90,110 over his nearest rival S.V. Satish Kumar Reddy of Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In 2014, the YSRCP leader had defeated the same TDP candidate by 75,243 votes, which was also the highest in the state.
This time, the second highest margin of 81,035 votes was achieved by YSRCP candidate Anna Ram Babu from Giddalur constituency.
YSRCP stormed to power, winning 151 seats in the 175-member Assembly. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) could secure 23 seats. Jana Sena Party of actor Pawan Kalyan got one seat.
A total of six candidates, all belonging to YSRCP, were elected with the majority of over 50,000 votes. Out of 76 candidates who were elected with majority of 20,000 to 50,000 votes, 76 were from YSRCP. The remaining three were from TDP.
Malladi Vishnu of YSRCP was elected from Vijayawada Central with a margin of a mere 25 votes over his nearest rival of Bona Umamaheswara Rao of TDP. NOTA (None of the above) votes in this constituency were 1,016, about 41 times more than the margin of victory.
A candidate each of YSRCP, TDP and Jana Sena won with a margin between 100 and 1,000 votes.
YSRCP, which won 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats, also secured highest majority. Y.S. Avinash Reddy, a cousin of Jagan Mohan Reddy, retained Kadapa seat with a majority of over 3.80 lakh votes, the highest in the state. P.V. Midhun Reddy got second-highest majority of over 2.68 lakh votes as he retained Rajampet seat.
The lowest margin of 4,205 was recorded in Guntur where TDP’s Galla Jayadev retained the seat.
Notably, all the three TDP candidates elected to the Lok Sabha had a victory margin of less than 10,000 votes. Rammohan Naidu retained Srikakulam seat with a margin of 6,653 votes while Kesineni Nani was re-elected from Vijayawada with a victory margin of 8,726
‘Kodi Kathi’ case to fizzle out?
Whether it is a coincidence or a calculated move, within a day of YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy winning the assembly elections with a massive mandate, the young man, who allegedly attacked him with a knife at Visakhapatnam airport on October 25, got the bail.
An NIA special court in Vijayawada granted bail J Srinivasa Rao on Friday and he was released from Rajahmundry jail on Saturday. He was asked to submit a personal bond of Rs 30,000 and surety of two persons.
The alleged attack on Jagan’s life, which was propagated by the pro-Telugu Desam Party media as “Kodi Kathi” case because the attack was made with a small knife used in cockfights, became a big news for quite some time.
Though then state government entrusted the case to Special Investigation Team of the Andhra police, YSRC rejected it.
Subsequently, it was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), but it could not find any evidence of any conspiracy behind the attack and Srinivas Rao, who had been in jail since he was arrested immediately after the attack, only told the police that he had no intention of killing Jagan.
Srinivas told the media that he didn’t attack Jagan and claimed that he went to him just to give a letter.
Following the investigation, the NIA officials submitted a report to NIA court in Vijayawada. As the charges were not proved, the court released Srinivas on bail.
In all probability, the case is expected to fizzle out for want of any evidence.
Harish, Kadiyam back into KCR team?
The outcome of Lok Sabha elections in Telangana was a major setback for Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who expected to play a major role in the national politics by winning 16 MP seats.
When the TRS ended up with just nine MP seats, KCR has realised that he cannot take the people for granted with his monarchical rule.
The TRS chief thought people would vote for anybody who is fielded from any constituency. Such was the arrogance of KCR that he even cancelled public meeting at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad as the people did not turn up in good numbers.
What is worse, KCR relied on defectors like Talasani Srinivasa Yadav, Danam Nagender and Malla Reddy and sidelined senior leaders like his nephew T Harish Rao, former deputy chief minister Kadiyam Srihari and many others.
In fact, Harish Rao’s name was not included in the star campaigners’ list initially but later, he was confined to only Medak parliamentary constituency and Srihari was confined to Warangal.
But all those on whom he relied had failed him, while Harish and Srihari proved their mettle. In both Medak and Warangal, by ensuring victory of the TRS candidates with huge margins.
Now, KCR seems to have realised the importance of Harish and Srihari and the mistake in sidelining them.
Party sources said there is no surprise if both of them are taken back into the state cabinet and given prominent postings.
After a long gap, Harish Rao came to KCR’s residence on Friday and discussed the results of Lok Sabha elections.
It has led to the talk that KCR is trying to take Harish Rao into confidence again and restore his importance in the party.
God has punished Chandrababu Naidu, says Jagan
Amaravati: YSR Congress Party President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who is set to take oath as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister next week, on Saturday said God has punished TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for his misdeeds.
Addressing the newly-elected legislators of his party, Jagan Reddy said Andhra Pradesh election results showed that those who resort to unethical and unjust means will definitely be punished by God.
Jagan, as the young leader is popularly known, said after 2014 elections Naidu “purchased” 23 MLAs of YSRCP.
“Now TDP got only 23 seats and the results also came on May 23. The God has written a beautiful script with 23,” said Jagan, who is the son of late Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Jagan also pointed out that Naidu illegally took away three MPs of YSRCP and now his party got only three Lok Sabha seats.
YSRCP stormed to power, winning 151 seats in the 175-member Assembly. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) could secure 23 seats.
YSRCP also won 22 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats while TDP could get only three.
Jagan said the electoral victory achieved by YSRCP deserved to be written with golden words. He said securing 50 per cent votes was not an ordinary achievement.

The YSRCP leader told his party MLAs to work hard to live up to the faith people reposed in the party with a resounding mandate. “We should keep in mind that our victory in 2024 will depend on how we perform in these five years,” he said.
Jagan said he would bring major reforms in governance and promised that he would deliver good governance which the entire country would look up to.
He also addressed newly-elected Lok Sabha members of his party separately and said achieving special category status to Andhra Pradesh remained the party’s number one goal.
He asked party MPs to work hard to fulfil the promises made to the people during the polls.
