My body, my rules: Actress hits back at troll

Share

Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh gave a befitting reply to a social media user who commented on the “Dangal” actress’ dressing style, saying it’s “my body”.

Fatima on Friday posted a photograph of herself wearing a pair of trousers and shirt, and enjoying the sunset while sitting by a lake.

While many social media users appreciated and praised the photograph, there was one netizen who asked Fatima to cover her body with clothes and reminded her of her religion – Islam.

After reading the comment, Fatima blocked the user and wrote: “Aur aap mere dost. You are blocked. Mah Badan.. mah rulz.. your gamla, your phool (My body, my rules).”

On the work front, Fatima will be seen in “Bhoot Police”, which also stars actor Saif Ali Khan.

PK, I-PAC basking in glory of YSRCP victory

Share

Hyderabad: Political strategist Prashant Kishor and the I-PAC of which he is a mentor are basking in the glory of YSR Congress Party’s landslide victory in the Andhra Pradesh elections.

As the YSRCP stormed to power with 151 seats in 175-member Assembly, the India-Political Action Committee (I-PAC) is celebrating its best-ever achievement.

Working with the YSRCP was a commitment Prashant Kishor had given before taking a plunge into politics late last year and as mentor and advisor of I-PAC, he ensured successful execution of the strategy.

As the results were pouring in from across Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, he was with YSRCP leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at the latter’s residence in Amaravati, watching the outcome.

Prashant Kishor later tweeted to thank Andhra’s voters and colleagues at I-PAC and congratulated new CM Jagan Mohan Reddy.

A great admirer of Jagan Reddy’s father and late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, he had told the YSRCP leader once that he would be happy to help the party.

They started working in 2017 with the political strategist personally holding series of strategy sessions with Jagan Reddy and other senior party leaders.

This was followed by I-PAC team launching a series of campaigns for the party to strengthen the organisation and train party workers. In a period spanning 709 days, I-PAC managed 35 campaigns including 18 online.

“The political consulting firm was instrumental in setting the strategy for the party and creating the narrative which eventually led to the victory of the YSRCP,” said I-PAC.

“This was the longest campaign I-PAC has ever done and the best results it got in any campaign in terms of seats,” said Asbah Farooqui, head, national media, I-PAC.

Under this strategy, the party reached out to people and established a direct connect with voters. Jagan Reddy’s 14-month-long ‘padyatra’ was part this effort.

The YSRCP managed to reach over 4.8 crore people in one crore households at least once in the last two years.

The I-PAC also helped the YSRCP digitally dominate over other parties by designing innovative campaigns involving thousands of youth. It also created campaign song ‘Ravali Jagan Kavali Jagan’, which registered 2.2 crore views.

With 400 people working on ground in the state, it came out with interesting campaigns such as ‘Ninnu Nammam Babu’ (We don’t trust you Babu) and ‘Bye Bye Babu’ targeting Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

With the massive victory of the YSRCP, Prashant Kishor and I-PAC achieved their goal but sources close to him said he will not pick up a campaign for any other party. He, however, will continue to mentor and guide the I-PAC, which has 400 plus strong team.

The I-PAC is currently working with Shiv Sena in Maharashtra. It worked on the party’s campaign in just-concluded Lok Sabha elections and will continue to work till Assembly elections scheduled later this year.

Before joining Janata Dal-United in September last year, Prashant Kishor had declared that he would not campaign for anyone but completed the assignment with the YSRCP as he had made the commitment to Jagan Reddy earlier.

Currently JD-U Vice President, Prashant Kishore formulated the election strategy for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 elections. He subsequently ran successful campaigns for JD-U in 2015 Bihar elections and for Congress in 2017 Punjab polls.

YSRCP MLAs to elect Jagan as their leader on Saturday

Amaravati: The newly-elected legislators of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in Andhra Pradesh will meet here on Saturday to formally elect party chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy as their leader.

The YSRCP Legislature Party will meet at the party office at 11 a.m. According to party sources, it will pass a resolution unanimously electing Reddy as its leader.

YSRCP, which stormed to power bagging 151 seats in the 175-member Assembly, will later submit a resolution to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan to formally stake claim to form the government in the state.

Jagan, as the YSRCP leader is popularly known among his supporters, has already announced that he will take oath as the chief minister on May 30 in Vijayawada.

Officials started making arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony, which is likely to be attended by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and leaders of some other regional parties, at the city’s Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium.

A large number of YSRCP workers from across the state are expected to attend the event, which is likely to take place between 11.40 a.m. and 12 noon.

Vijayawada Police Commissioner Dwarka Tirumala Rao met Jagan on Friday to discuss the arrangements, though it was not clear if he alone will take oath or so some legislators would also be sworn-in with him as ministers.

Meanwhile, a day after YSRCP’s landslide victory, aspirants of ministerial berths and top bureaucrats made a beeline at his residence at Tadepalli in state capital region Amaravati.

Senior party leaders and legislators, including those who worked as ministers in the Cabinets of Jagan’s father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy between 2004 and 2009, were among the aspirants who called on the party leader.

The YSRCP chief began the day by offering prayers at Tirupati’s Balaji temple. Temple Executive Officer Anil Kumar Singhal, who accompanied the priests, offered prasadam to Jagan and his family members.

Leaders and workers from various parts of the state continued to descend on Tadepalli in processions to celebrate the party’s massive victory.

The road leading to Jagan’s home in Tadepalli village on the banks of Krishna river was barricaded on both sides.

Top Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) officials too made a beeline at Jagan’s house to congratulate him. Those who called on the leader, included Director General of Police (DGP) R.P. Thakur.

Meanwhile, the General Administration Department (GAD) has readied six-vehicle convoy for the new chief minister.

After second fail, Lagadapati quits survey game

Admitting his failure to make the right predictions in both the Assembly elections in Telangana and General elections in Andhra Pradesh, the former Congress MP on Friday said that he would henceforth abstain from conducting exit polls.

The former Congress leader, who is not in active politics anymore, through a press release said, “I have failed to know the pulse of the people in December 2018 Assembly elections in Telangana and 2019 General elections in Andhra Pradesh, for which I express regret. For whatever reasons, since I failed to know the pulse of the people, I would henceforth abstain from conducting exit polls in the future.”

Lagadapati Rajagopal took political exile in 2014, after Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated to carve out Telangana.

After being inactive in politics, the former leader made an appearance during the Telangana Assembly elections and said that his poll agency predicted a win for Congress alliance with 65 seats out of the 119 seats.

However, in complete contrast to his predictions, the TRS won with a huge mandate of 88 seats. TRS working president KT Rama Rao and Lagadapati had a spat also regarding his exit poll results, and eventually KTR was vindicated.

Again on Sunday, Lagadapati disclosed his exit poll results, in which he claimed that the TRS will win at least 16 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana, and TDP would be re-elected by winning 90-100 Assembly seats. However, the TDP saw a rout, as the YSRCP won with a huge majority of 151 seats.

Responding to allegations that he deliberately gave the numbers wrong to hamper the prospects of certain parties, he said, “Following certain principles, I took a political exile, since then I am not associated with any party.”

In 2014, Lagadapati took a vow that he will quit politics if the Congress went ahead with bifurcation.

He further added, “If someone is hurt by my surveys, please forgive me. I congratulate YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for becoming the Chief Minister and Chandrababu Naidu for taking the role of Leader of Opposition.”

Yet another setback for Ravi Prakash

Share

Former chief executive officer of TV9 television channel V Ravi Prakash is now finding it difficult to escape from the clutches of law on the charges of forgery and criminal conspiracy.

After the Telangana high court striking down his anticipatory bail petition on Wednesday night, Ravi Prakash was supposed to appear before the Cybercrime police station of Cyberabad on Thursday, following a notice served on him by the police under Section 41A of Criminal Procedure Code in crime no 84/19 May 21.

But, the sacked CEO was trying to take shelter under the pretext that his petition was pending with National Company Law Tribunal for disposal. On Friday, even that option also got exhausted.

The NCLT bench struck down the petition filed by SAIF III Mauritius Company Limited against Associated Broadcasting Company Private Limited (ABCL), the promoter of TV9, questioning the sale of majority stakes to Alanda Media.

Since SAIF has finally agreed to the deal between ABCL and Alanda Media, its petition has become infructuous. The NCLT gave clearance to the deal between the two companies.

It also struck down the petition filed by actor Shivaji questioning the deal and change of management without intimating the shareholders.

As a result, there is nothing for Ravi Prakash to question the change of management in TV9. Now, he has no option but to surrender before the police and cooperate in their investigation!

Jagan Cabinet Not Immediately?

Share

YSR Congress party president and chief minister designate of Andhra Pradesh Y S Jaganmohan Reddy will take his own time in forming his cabinet and is not a hurry, as there are too many aspirants and too many loyalists.

According to party sources, only Jagan will take oath as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh at 12 noon on May 30 at a public ceremony in Vijayawada.

The police and the Vijayawada authorities are searching for an ideal ground to conduct the swearing-in ceremony and will be finalized in a day or two.

He is planning to invite leaders of other states and parties to the swearing-in ceremony, which will be a glittering affair.

Party sources said Jagan will form his cabinet after undertaking a serious exercise. But he has already started getting representations from the aspirants.

At a meeting he had with his party MLAs at his Tadepalli residence, he told them not to bring any pressure on him and leave the choice of his cabinet to him.

It is learnt Jagan will restrict his cabinet just to 25 and make it compact and effective. Apart from experience, Jagan is also taking into consideration his close confidants with him he can take liberty in issuing directions.

Some of the names that were doing rounds in the party circles are: Balineni Srinivas Reddy, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, R K Roja, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, Malladi Vishnu, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy, G Srikanth Reddy, Botsa Satyanarayana, Dharmana Prasad Rao, Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, Taneti Vanitha and Anam Ramnarayan Reddy.

Forget Jr NTR, Balayya Is Here- say Fans

Share

Countless ministers and political stalwarts have lost the 2019 election after they contested on Telugudesam Party’s ticket. And at a time when all the stars are falling down, surely Nandamuri Balakrishna has shined bright, stunning his opponents who are thinking that his fan-slapping acts will make him lose at Hindupur.

Winning with a majority of 17,000 votes over YSRC’s Iqbal Khan, Balayya has proved his stamina in Hindupur constituency of Anantapur yet again. Will, that makes him a CM material? It’s not Balayya’s win, but actually, from the 52-seat Rayalaseema region where YSR Congress has made a clean sweep by winning 50 seats, he’s next only to the other candidate. And that is none other than former CM Chandrababu Naidu who won from Kuppam.

If TDP could register only two wins, and if that is only Balayya next to Naidu, will he not be a CM material, ask his fans. In the wake of publicity everywhere that Jr NTR should be brought into the picture to revive TDP, Balayya’s fans are asking how come everyone forgets the ‘Legend’ actor.

Saaho Will Be A Disastrous Movie, Says Khan

Share

Bollywood producer Kamaal R Khan aka KRK, who has gone to the extent of losing his Twitter account for his controversial, vulgar and shabby remarks on Twitter regarding various stuff that is related to films, is once again back to his elements. This time, he has targeted Saaho movie.

Sharing the poster of “Saaho” other day on his official Twitter account, KRK has tweeted, “Film #Saaho will be releasing on 15th August 2019. And it will be one of the biggest disasters of #TSeries! Because the budget is 250Cr”. Definitely, these comments are not going well with the fans of Prabhas and they are giving him black and blue on the social media for the same.

One wonders what made KRK come to the notion that a film that is made with 250 crores and with Prabhas with lead will not be able to recover the investment. Probably he should have forgotten that the film is going to release in almost all the major languages in India and the pre-release business itself might touch 1000 crores. Poor KRK, get your facts right!!

It’s Official: No Salman Khan In Saaho

Share

Well, from last few days, the big news that is wooing Baahubali Prabhas fans is that they are likely to get a surprise inside “Saaho”. And that is none other than the presence of Salman Khan in a cameo role. So, how far this is true?

Sharing his thoughts with a print media, Saaho director Sujeeth has confrimed that all this talk is just trash. “There is neither such cameo nor anything coming from Salman Khan for Saaho. I don’t know where are such rumours actually getting brewed” said Sujith.

Saaho is going to be an allout Prabhas movie, with the likes of Neil Nitin Mukesh, Shraddha Kapoor, Mandira Bedi and Evelyn Sharma playing some key roles. More than any actors, the stunning action sequences and car chases are an eye treat inside this film.

All set for August 15th release across the world, Saaho is expected to create new records beating Baahubali 2. We have to see how far that happens.

TDP strongly bitten by ‘Karma’

Share

After the 2014 elections in Andhra Pradesh, the ruling Telugu Desham party in state has played a hijack game to rope in 23 MLAs and 3 Parliament members from YSR Congress Party. We all know that YCP’s fumed at it and alleged it as poaching by ruling TDP government.

Quite interestingly, the resounding victory of YS Jagan has now left TDP with same number of MLAs (23) and MPs (3) that Chandrababu Naidu grabbed from YSRCP in the previous term. Which means, the state party lost all its existing numbers and only left with what they grabbed from YSRCP. The three MPs, who won on YSRCP ticket and later defected to TDP, were SPY Reddy, Kothapalli Geetha and Butta Renuka. However, ex Kurnool MP Renuka returned to YCP ahead of 2019 polls but she was denied ticket by party president.

The TDP ending up with those set of numbers that they attracted from YSRCP last time is now being discussed largely on social media and it’s become a subject of discussion among political enthusiasts. Infact, it is the worst performance of TDP in over three decades.
