Jagan will be CM for next 30 years: Mohan Babu

Share

Actor Mohan Babu has called on the media and reacted on the election results. As we all know Mohan Babu joined YSRCP before elections and campaigned for the party in Rayalaseema. “I congratulate Jagan on this grand victory. The credit will completely go only to him as I have seen him working tirelessly for public and I’m sure he will be a good CM,” said Mohan Babu.

Then the Collection King said Jagan will be CM like West Bengal’s stalwart leader Jyothi Basu, who was CM for three decades. Mohan Babu expressed his anguish over the cast politics that led to violence in few parts of Andhra Pradesh.

Mohan Babu also congratulated PM Modi, Odisha CM Naveen Patniak and actress Sumalatha who contested as independent for their victory. However, he declined to comment on TDP’s humiliating defeat and even on Pawan Kalyan.

Releasing Today: Bellamkonda Banks On Teja’s Sita

Share

Bellamkonda Srinivas has been struggling to deliver a film that clicks at the ticket windows. He is hoping that Teja’s take on Ramayanam would fetch him that much needed hit.

Teja has given a new spin to Sita’s character that has been drawing controversies already.

Kajal Agarwal played the modern Sita, who is ambitious, arrogant and opportunistic.

Bellamkonda plays the role of an innocent but strong Rama and Sonu Sood is the Ravana who eyes Sita.

The premise looks promising, but can Teja deliver an engaging film with familiar plot and characters?

Sita is releasing today amid very low expectations and at a time when people’s attention is away from the cinemas.

The film hasn’t taken off will with its pre-bookings, but the makers and buyers hope that it will pick up once the word of mouth is out.

It is an important film for Bellamkonda Srinivas as he is in dire need of success. Actors like Naga Chaitanya and Sai Dharam Tej were able to bounce back this summer.

Will Bellamkonda Srinivas get similar reception with Sita?

YSR Congress wins 151 Assembly, 22 Lok Sabha seats

Amaravati: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), which swept to power in Andhra Pradesh with a landslide victory, has bagged 151 seats in 175-member Assembly. It also won 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats.

As counting in couple of constituencies continued past midnight with keen tussle between the YSRCP and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the final tally became clear early Friday.

The TDP finished a distant second with 23 Assembly and three Lok Sabha seats.

Actor Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party (JSP), which made the electoral debut, bagged one Assembly seat. Both the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) drew blank.

In 2014, the TDP had bagged 102 seats while its then ally BJP had won four seats. The YSRCP had won 67 seats while two independents were also elected. In the simultaneous Lok Sabha polls, TDP had won 15 seats, YSRCP eight and BJP two seats.

In the results declared late Thursday night, TDP’ Galla Jayadev retained Guntur Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 4,800 votes over his nearest rival M. Venugopal Reddy of the YSRCP.

TDP’s Kesineni Nani and K. Rammohan Naidu also retained Vijayawada and Srikakulam Lok Sabha seats respectively after a close contest.

Five out of six exit polls for Telangana wrong

Share

Five out of six exit polls turned out to be wrong for Telangana Lok Sabha elections.

Except the India Today-Axis poll, which came close to being accurate giving 10-12 seats to the TRS, 1 to 3 to the BJP and Congress each. Other exit polls gave TRS 12-15. All predicted AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi’s win.

The Times Now-VMR poll predicted 13 seats for the TRS, 2 seats for the Congress and 1 for the BJP. The Republic -C Voter exit poll gave the TRS 14 seats and said that the Congress, BJP and AIMIM will win 1 each.

The Republic-Jan Ki Baat poll predicted 14-15 seats for TRS, none to one for the Congress and one for the BJP.

The CNN News18-IPSOS poll predicted that the TRS would win a comfortable 12-14 seats, the Congress would pick up 1 to 2 seats, and the BJP 1.

Rashmika Mandanna is on the rise. The Geetha Govindam actress is just unstoppable with Telugu, Tamil and Kannada film industries chasing her.

Rashmika has recently landed the female lead role in Mahesh Babu’s next film with Anil Ravipudi. She is also signed up for Allu Arjun’s upcoming film with Sukumar.

She has a couple of biggies lined up in Kannada cinema as she gets busier in Kollywood with big stars and big production houses choosing her over other options.

As per latest buzz, Rashmika has been approached for Vijay’s 64th film to be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. She is already playing the female lead in Karthi’s nineteenth film.

There is Bheeshma with Nithin that will be directed by Venky Kudumula, who introduced Rashmika to Telugu Cinema.

With so many biggies up her sleeve, Rashmika is on the verge of becoming the next lady superstar of South Cinema.

The PK factor in Jagan’s Andhra Pradesh win

Share

It’s the curious case of the ‘PK’ factor which seems to have had its impact on the outcome of the Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh.

Ahead of the general election and after completion of polling on April 11, there were discussions in all circles over the impact of three ‘PKs’ on the outcome in Andhra Pradesh.

In the final analysis, only one PK factor worked and the resultant success was a landslide.

The ruling Telugu Desam Party banked on PK, the Pasupu-Kumkuma scheme under which a dole of Rs 10,000 was distributed from government coffers to each member (totalling about 95 lakh women) of self-help groups.

For the main opposition YSR Congress, it was the political strategist PK Prashant Kishor.

The third PK was film actor and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan who jumped into the electoral fray for the first time.

The TDP, in fact, banked on two PKs, Pasupu-Kumkuma as well as Pawan Kalyan, hoping the monetary dole would pump-in the women votes en masse while the other PK would split the anti-incumbency vote and benefit the ruling party.

Kalyan could not make much of an impact and his own party faced a washout.

Its obvious that Pasupu-Kumkuma too did not help the TDP as it got blown away in the ‘fan’ (YSRCs election symbol) wave.

Prashant Kishor and his India Political Action Committee team did wonders for the YSRC by meticulously helping it build the organisation right from the polling booth level.

According to sources, the YSRC faltered in 2014 only due to lack of such organisational structure.

The political consulting firm, which worked with Narendra Modi in 2014 and Nitish Kumar later, was instrumental in setting the strategy for the YSRC and creating the narrative by organising 35 campaigns, 17 on the ground and 18 online since May 2017.

“One of the key strategic decisions was to reach out to people and establish a direct connect with the voters,” Asbah Farooqui, IPACs head of national communications team said.

Jaganmohan Reddy did that through his 15-month-long Praja Sankalpa Padayatra, a foot march that took him across the state and helped connect with over two crore people.

“This was followed by the Jagan Anna Pilupu campaign, wherein the YSRC chief wrote personal letters to over 60,000 village-level neutral influencers, seeking their inputs to create a blueprint for the development of Andhra Pradesh,” Farooqui pointed out.

“Through various other campaigns, the YSRCP managed to reach out to over 4.8 crore people in one crore households in the state at least once in the last two years,” he added.

The campaign song ‘Raavali Jagan Kaavali Jagan’ ahead of the elections went viral, with 2.2 crore people viewing it, reportedly making it the most-watched poll campaign song.

‘Ninnu Nammam Babu’ (we dont trust you Chandrababu), ‘Bye-Bye Babu’ campaign themes became catchy slogans on poll-eve and turned the tide against TDPs ‘Malli Nuvve Raavali’ (you should come again) line.

In fact, the TDPs line was coined as a counter to Raavali Jagan.

While 400 members of IPAC worked in the field with YSRC MPs, MLAs and other leaders, different ‘functional teams’ managed data and technology, political intelligence, social media, research, media and operations, providing comprehensive support to the whole campaign.

“The outcome of all this is now conspicuous. We left the TDP rattled and threw it off the game,” Farooqui observed.
