Majili Proves To Be A Strong Success For Naga Chaitanya!

Share

Naga Chaitanya has been criticised by his fans for being able to stand up to the competition like his father Nagarjuna. At his prime, Nagarjuna could give tough fight to Chiranjeevi as well..

Ultimately, Nagarjuna chose to try more versatile films that did harm his box office stamina compared to his peers. He did show to many that his power to attract families and masses hasn’t died down with Soggade Chinni Nayana.

He recently did give a big disaster ever in his career with Officer but recovered slightly with Devdas, in company of Nani.

But Naga Chaitanya after Premam and Rarandoyi Veduka Chuddam which marked his resurgence as an actor and gave him his first solo 22 cr and 28 cr share grossers, respectively. He again fell back into trap of doing bad films and Yuddham Sharanam, Savyasachi couldn’t even collect double digit shares.

Sailaja Reddy Alludu crossed 25 crores mark even though it is regarded as a below average performer. Finally, Naga Chaitanya made his fans happy with Majili.

Movie crossed 22 cr share mark on Tuesday and attained breakeven. It crossed 600k USD mark in US too.

The film is predicted to be his first 40 crores share grosser and solo 1 Million USD film, if second weekend and third weekend don’t bow out to the completion of Chitralahari and Jersey from his contemporaries – Sai Tej and Nani, respectively.

Samantha Akkineni’s presence in the film made family audiences go to the film more as she could find acceptance in the demographic with different successful films like Rangasthalam, Mahanati recently.

Pak PM Imran Khan supports Modi

Share

In a surprise and shocking thing, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has got support from none other than Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Pak PM opined that if Modi wins for the second time, the peace dialog between India and Pakistan on Kashmir can move further and the valley would find a solution.

Imran Khan was interviewed by a group of foreign journalists and when asked about his comments on Indian elections, the former cricketer turned politician said so. “If the Congress party comes into power in New Delhi, then the Kashmir issue will not get a solution because it will be scared of the opposition. BJP which is a right wing, can reach for some kind of settlement,” said Imran Khan.

The leaders of Jammu & Kashmir have slammed the Pak PM for his comments but none of them caught the true intentions of Imran Khan here. He clearly said in his comments that BJP neither lets the party in government to talk nor brings a permanent solution to the Kashmir issue which is pending ever since the partition.

Adding further he said, Kashmir is a political struggle and military action will yield nothing and it will be people of Kashmir who will suffer the most. Also the Pak PM stated that Muslims in India are leaving in fear over extreme Hindu-ism which is being encouraged by the ruling BJP.

EC serves notice to KCR on ‘Hindu Gaalu’ comment

Share

Telangana CM KCR was served notices by the chief Election Commission of India (ECI) for allegedly making filthy comments against Hindus at an election campaign. Based on a complaint filed by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) state president M Rama Raju, the notices were served.

In his complaint, Rama Raju claimed KCR during his election campaign in Karimnagar on March 17th, reportedly said, “Ee Hindu Gaalu… Bondu Gaalu.. Dikkumalina Daridrapu Gaalu… Desham Lo Aggi Petale Gattar Levale…”. The EC in its notice said it had examined the English translation version of the speech and opined that these comments come under Election Code of Conduct which has the potential to disturb religious harmony.

Further the notices said, KCR should reply to them before April 12th 5 PM and failing to do so, the ECI is liable to take any action without any further intimation. But the notices served to KCR were as a star campaigner and president of TRS party and not as Telangana CM.

KCR in his speech has targeted BJP over Ram Mandir issue and the attacks on Dalits and minorities over transportation of cows. He said that the country has a lot more issues to deal with rather than construct of Ram Mandir on Ayodhya and welfare of cows.

Pawan vs Jagan vs Naidu – Age is just a number!

Share

Amid sweltering heat, leaders of all political parties participated in a high-decibel campaign across Andhra Pradesh, pitching themselves and their parties as the best. Over the last one month, the people of Andhra Pradesh witnessed these leaders sweating it out to push their prospects and agenda into the voters. While some hired choppers, some ended up touring doing roadshows and public meetings.

In case of Telugu Desam Party, the party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu stood on top in addressing the most number of elections meetings. The total number of meetings AP chief minister address across Andhra Pradesh are 110 meetings, despite him being nearly 20 years older than his YSRCP and Jana Sena counterparts.

Meanwhile, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy who took part in public rallies and used his chopper extensively to do road shows, participated in 68 meetings. Jagan was also criticised for heading back to Hyderabad everyday evening and taking frequent breaks from campaigning. On the other hand, Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, who toured across the state, participated in 60 meetings. In the process, he also fell sick due to sunstroke and had to be hospitalised for a day.

Going by the performance, number of meetings covered by leaders of all the parties, Chandrababu is way ahead of Pawan and Jagan. In fact, he has strived more compared to his younger counterparts who are generally expected to work more. Known as a workaholic and a relentless fighter, Chandrababu has proved that age is just a number. Looks like Pawan and Jagan will have to work doubly hard to impress people of the state as the benchmark set by Chandrababu is way too high.

Another conspiracy – President’s rule after polling in AP?

Share

With just a few hours to go for polling in Andhra Pradesh, the stakes for YSR Congress seem to be very high. For both the Telugu Desam Party and YSRCP, it is a do or die election. Locked in such a battle, the YSR Congress along with the BJP and the TRS has been trying its best to ensure that the TDP is attacked on multiple fronts.

On one hand, there are confirmed reports of Telangana government and private bus operators cancelling tickets of people travelling to Andhra Pradesh. Some incidents of law and order disturbance across AP have been reported after YSRCP activists indulged in a clash with TDP karyakartas. Similarly, netizens are reporting several practices which are creating doubts on free and fair election process in AP.

According to sources, TDP’s booth agents could be targeted by the rival party in Andhra Pradesh in order to manipulate voting. “The Election Commission is working in favour of YSRCP and is hoping to manipulate EVMs once the voting closes tomorrow at 5 pm. In the meantime, YSRCP also plans to create law and order disturbance in the state,” said an activist who requested anonymity.

“They say that the Governor could be intimated about these law and order disturbances to make it look like the state needs to have President’s rule. There could be President’s rule imposed and manipulation of EVMs can easily take place in such a situation,” the activist adds, stating that some YSRCP activists are also creating fake finger masks so that they can re-vote any number of times.

Fake finger masks and liquid to wipe off vote ink is also being procured in large quantities to ensure that one voter can vote multiple times, on behalf of those abstaining from voting. May citizens are expressing their concern on the ways and means of Election Commission’s behaviour and seem quite worried about the outcome of the elections in Andhra Pradesh.

EC’s over-enthusiasm: Prakasam SP’s transfer

Share

This election season in Andhra Pradesh has seen it all. From misusing the Election Commission to misleading people over a death within the family, there has been drama, tragedy, comedy and unfortunate bitterness. This time, however, the Election Commission in Andhra Pradesh has been overtly responsive to any small complaint or grievance lodged by the YSR Congress party.

Following YSR Congress’ complaint over AP government DGP for Intelligence and complaint over Kadapa and Srikakulam SP, the Election Commission immediately passed transfer orders and barred them from election duty, alleging that they were working in favour of the ruling TDP, without any verification of their record or offering any explanation for transfer.

Similarly, the Election Commission also issued transfer order for Prakasam district SP Koya Praveen and replaced him by Siddharth Kaushal who is on the Special Investigation Team of the Telangana Police in data theft case allegations faced by the TDP. Additionally, the EC also issued transfer orders to Tadepalli inspector who will be overlooking the election in Mangalagiri constituency which comes under the jurisdiction of Tadepalli, which is being contested by Nara Lokesh.

The state government has been opposing EC’s attitude over the transfer of senior officials in the state to non-election posts. Last week, the Election Commission also went to the extent of replace the state’s Chief Secretary Anil Puneetha with L.V. Subramanyam, who is accused in misappropriation of assets cases and has been a close aide of Jagan.

One wonders why the EC has been so pro-active in acting over YSRCP’s complaints, despite the government seeking an explanation on its excesses. Is the EC not answerable to people and the government?

Why Jagan needs to get a reality check

Share

Over the last few days during election campaigning in Andhra Pradesh, YSR Congress President Y. S Jaganmohan Reddy has been picking a few key leaders and making promises of including them in his Cabinet when he becomes the Chief Minister. In one such public address to the people of Mangalagiri, Jagan said that YSRCP candidate Alla Ramakrishna Reddy who is contesting against TDP’s Nara Lokesh in the constituency will get a Cabinet berth when YSRCP forms the new government in Andhra Pradesh.

This is not the first time that Jagan has reiterated his idea of being the CM rather than working for the people. Time and again, all his supporters and followers have been injecting this into their leader that he is going to be the CM. For someone like Jagan whose has not had political experience and believed that he deserves to be the CM just because he is former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s son, such dreams seem viable with money.

However, his image improved considerably after his Padayatra and a strong political campaign has been trying to do an image makeover for him. Despite all the cases and having gone to prison, Jagan enjoys considerable support from Reddy and Christian community. Jagan’s constant banter of becoming a Chief Minister reflects that he strongly believes he deserves to be the CM, irrespective of his party’s performance.

Additionally, he thinks money can buy anything. His traits, behaviour with people and his brazen attitude are also reflective of his arrogance in assuming he is going to be the CM, without a reality check. With such self-assumptions, while Jagan likes to believe that he is going to come to power, at least his party leaders should caution him about his over-confidence and give him the state of ground realities which could be different from his world of assumptions.

Chandrababu Literally ‘Begged’ For Votes

Share

TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu’s campaigns this election season have been very different and dramatic. Anyone who has followed him and observed his campaigning style will vouch for this. In fact, his headset mic gave him a lot of leverage to free himself and campaign aggressively for the Telugu Desam Party. On the other hand, he has also made several sincere appeals to voters to bring him back to power.

One striking feature of his appeal was his action of folding hands and bending over repeatedly, seeking votes from people along with their blessings. This has been upsetting a lot of his fans and followers as he literally went overboard and “begged” for votes. Never ever has he gone to this level to seek votes, say his fans on social media. He has also urged them that “don’t look at me and vote. Look at your future and look at the development we have been able to do. Make a choice wisely.”

His appeals have been really heart-touching and emotional. Even in his presentation last evening, a quote mentioned: “I’m not going to be here permanently, the state will be permanent, your kids will be its future and I may not be here to see their future. But, I can definitely create a bright future for them. Your future is my responsibility.”

He even pointed out that if TDP cannot win this election, it could be his last term as the Chief Minister. Political observers who have been following Chandrababu’s campaigning style over the years say that this election season has been very different. “He has stooped very low which he didn’t have to do. Last election, after bifurcation, people voted for him because they trusted him that he could build AP from scratch. This election, he has proved that he is capable of development. His work is visible,” said an analyst.

One wonders about why Chandrababu had to choose to seek votes in such a humbling way or was it one of his strategies, keeping the changing electorate in mind? Whatever the outcome of AP assembly elections, Chandrababu has definitely made it to one of the most significant leaders in the history of AP politics and no one can change that!

I-T raids at Galla Jayadev’s properties

Share

Continuing their tide of “enquiries” on Telugu Desam Party leaders, Income Tax sleuths raided different properties and locations related to MP Galla Jayadev last night. With just a few hours before polls, these raids have come as a shock for the TDP which has been bearing the brunt of BJP’s vendetta politics against the party.

Similar raids have been conducted in Madhya Pradesh, which is a Congress-led state. Voicing his protest against the raids, Jayadev sat on a protest against this attitude of the Centre and in misusing democratic institutions. “The idea is to agonise Jayadev before elections. These have been conducted because Galla Jayadev spoke against the PM in the Parliament and questioned him,” said TDP Spokesperson Lanka Dinakar.

The raids have been conducted at places where Jayadev’s election campaign team has been residing. “I demand an explanation from the Prime Minister for these targeted raids,” he said, in a fit of rage, adding “Why is TDP being targeted in Andhra Pradesh? If EC and other institutions are impartial, then shouldn’t raids be conducted on all parties’ leaders?,” he questioned.

Earlier in the week, another TDP MP, C.M. Ramesh also had to face I-T raids after which TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu sat on a protest against the Centre’s attitude in misusing these institutions for its political gains. Going by these raids on TDP MPs, one surely questions the authenticity of them at a time when there are just a few hours left before polls.

Unfortunately, with such excesses against the TDP leaders, BJP and YSRCP are actually digging their own grave while the conspiracy against their common enemy is out in the open.

Jagan’s Babai, YV still upset

Share

The going to be former YSRCP MP YV Subba Reddy is still upset with YS Jagan over denying ticket. From February, Subba Reddy was not seen in Prakasham district and the cadre who followed him have split into three groups. Also Subba Reddy turned helpless unable to work with Balineni Srinivas Reddy and Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy who are in election race and so he remained silent as he could not dare to work against party in the district.

As an MP, Subba Reddy was always available in the constituency. He had basic knowledge about all the problems and he assured to the people that he would solve each and every one if voted for the second time. Unexpectedly Subba Reddy got snubbed and through his contacts, he tried his best to get ticket inspite of party announcing candidates. Having fought till the last minute, Subba Reddy was unable to face his supporters in the district and that’s why till date, he did not step in Prakash district.

Moreover with Subba Reddy’s supporters and sympathisers splitting to three groups, it will certainly show its influence on the results and surprisingly YSRCP leaders have not bothered about it. Magunta’s group did not mingle with Subba Reddy as the former had issues with the latter. May 23rd will be date to know how much damage was done by ignoring Subba Reddy.

While this is happening at one end, Subba Reddy claims that he was assigned to work for party in Godavari districts and so he could be available in Prakasham district.

Batting Over, So What’s Next From Them?

Share

Whenever comes the election season, few stunners always bowl out voters as well the film fraternity. And this time when it comes to Andhra Pradesh’s assembly election, we have all sorts of funny, crazy and serious things happening. Now that their poll-batting is over, what will these celebs do?

Firstly we have to talk about Manchu Mohan Babu who has joined YSR Congress 20 days ago. And then he has fired ammunition at Chandrababu Naidu big time. One wonders if the Dialogue King will stick to politics or he will come back to his regular business of films as usual.

From a long time, Sivaji is not at all doing films but only talking about conspiracy theories and the ways how BJP and local parties nexus is killing the chances of Andhra Pradesh. Now that all the political compulsions are over, with voters to seal the fate of politics on April 11th, what’s up for Sivaji next?

Just before the elections, Jeevitha and Rajasekhar have found their love for YSR Congress. Not stopping there, they tried to create ripples with their words, though they ended up creating a small wake. As the turbulent political times are over, what’s next for this couple? Back to direction and acting?

Finally, we have Nagababu, who has jumped into poll battle as Janasena MP candidate. If he wins, that will be history, otherwise will it be just Jabardasth again? Only time has the answer!

Most Unsuccessful Beauty Signs Mega Hero’s Film

Share

If your first film is a flop, then you will be seen nowhere in the film industry for a couple of years. But there are certain beauties who sign film after film no matter what is the result of their films.

Here comes youngster Mega Akash who is signing film after film, despite the fact that she has no single hit to her credit till date. While her two Telugu films, LIE and Chal Mohan Ranga are flops of epic proportions, her Tamil films where she has done small roles and lead characters, including Rajnikanth’s Petta and Simbu’s Attarintiki Daredi remake Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven are also flops.

And then, Megha Akash signed her debut Hindi film “Satellite Shankar” opposite Suraj Pancholi. Then she has another Telugu film coming her way in the form of Mega debutant Vaishnav Tej’s debut film. Although the makers got NRI girl Manisha Raj who debuted with Sunil’s 2 Countries aboard, now they have replaced her with Megha.

Hope this Tamil scores her maiden hit at least with this film rather remaining as most unsuccessful heroine with many flops to her career.

Raviteja Puts Disco Raja On Hold?

Share

Seems like Raviteja is still unable to find out what works for him at the box office in the current trends. And that is worrying him a lot about his upcoming film Disco Raja which was launched recently. Here is a rumor being heard in film circles.

For reasons unknown, we hear that Disco Raja has hit the brakes yet again, putting a temporary stop to his journey. Reportedly Ravi is more interested to start and finish Theri’s Telugu remake with Santosh Srinivas first. Later he will be wrapping Disco Raja, aiming for a 2020 release for that VI Anand directorial.

As Mythri Makers is planning to release Raviteja and Santosh Srinivas movie on the coming Dasara eve along with films like Venky Mama, the hero wants to start shooting for this film from next week and wants to finish it in a single stretch.

These are the days where remake movies are not working out big time in Tollywood and we have to see how Theri remake will help Ravi, as most Telugu people have already seen the Telugu version Policeodu of it.
