Sharmila campaigns with ‘Bye Bye Babu’ slogan

Share

Amaravati: YSR Congress party leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s sister Sharmila is running the party campaign in Andhra Pradesh in an innovative way.

‘Bye Bye Babu’ slogan is the focus of Sharmila’s campaign as she is exhorting people at every rally and road show to bid adieu to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who is also referred to as Babu.

Confident of YSRCP’s victory in the April 11 elections to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Sharmila has come out with an innovative campaign method to drive home the message that the countdown has begun for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief.

At every meeting, she tells people that it’s time to bid goodbye to Babu and then appealing the crowd to loudly say ‘Bye Bye Babu’. With her punch dialogues she is targeting Babu and his son Nara Lokesh for failing to fulfil their election promises.

A digital clock is attached to Sharmila’s campaign bus, indicating days and time left for Babu’s government. It also carries the slogan ‘Praja Theerpu (people’s verdict) Bye Bye Babu’.

YSRCP leaders say that this is not only boosting the morale of the party cadres but also creating a positive wave in the party’s favour.

YSRCP is also installing countdown clocks in all the constituencies to give an impetus to its campaign.

The digital countdown clock idea and the slogan have been coined by Indian Political Action Committee (IPAC), which is helping YSRCP in the campaign.

IPAC, which was formed by election strategist Prashant Kishore, had earlier coined campaign slogan “Ravali Jagan, Kavali Jagan” (We want Jagan, Jagan should come).

A song made with this slogan has crossed 10 million views on YouTube and according to IPAC it is now the most watched political campaign song on the social media.

Elections to the 175-member Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats are scheduled on April 11.

TRS sitting pretty in India’s largest constituency Malkajgiri

Share

Hyderabad: Malkajgiri, the largest Lok Sabha constituency in the country in terms of voters, will see a three-cornered contest but the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) appears to be sitting pretty.

Spread over parts of Hyderabad and its outskirts, it is called a mini India for being home to large number of people from various parts of the country.

About 31 lakh voters, nearly half of them hailing from other states, are eligible to cast their franchise in April 11 elections.

A sizeable number among migrants are those with their roots in Andhra Pradesh.

It is one of the Lok Sabha seats which the ruling TRS is aiming to win for the first time.

This is the third election in the constituency, which came into being following the delimitation of constituencies a decade ago.

In the first election held here in 2009, the Congress party’s Sarvey Satyanarayana was elected, defeating his nearest rival, the Telugu Desam Party’s T. Bheemsen, by over 93,000 votes. The TRS then had an alliance with TDP.

In 2014, the TDP’s Malla Reddy won the seat defeating M. Hanumanth Rao of the TRS by more than 28,000 votes. TDP had contested the polls in alliance with the BJP. In the simultaneous Assembly elections, TDP won four out of seven Assembly segments. Its ally BJP bagged one seat while TRS candidates were elected in two constituencies.

Malla Reddy, who runs engineering colleges, later defected to TRS. In the Assembly elections held in December 2018, he was elected from Medchal, one of the seven Assembly segments, and was inducted in the state cabinet.

This time, the TRS has fielded Malla Reddy’s son-in-law Marri Rajasekhar Reddy. A newcomer in politics, he is locking horns with Congress party’s Telangana unit working president Revanth Reddy and BJP’s senior leader N. Ramchander Rao. Both the experienced politicians were defeated in the Assembly elections.

Rajasekhar Reddy is banking on his father-in-law and other TRS MLAs as they have been tasked to run the campaign in their respective constituencies.

Revanth Reddy, who lost from Kodangal in Vikarabad district, is considered a non-local in Malkajgiri but he is unfazed by the tag. He is confident that people will prefer Congress in the parliamentary elections. A bitter critic of TRS and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, he is known for oratory skills and has the ability to enthuse the cadres.

Revanth, who quit TDP to join Congress in 2017, and Ramachander Rao, who contested unsuccessfully from the Malkajgiri Assembly segment, are facing a tough task as their parties have no representation from Assembly segments that fall under the Lok Sabha constituency.

The BJP candidate hopes that the Narendra Modi factor will help him win the votes of the migrants from others states besides the middle-class among the locals.

In the recent Assembly elections, TRS won six Assembly segments. Congress party’s Sudheer Reddy, who was elected from L.B. Nagar Assembly constituency, last month announced that he was joining TRS. He was one of the 10 Congress MLAs who defected to the ruling party, dealing a big blow to the opposition party.

In the Assembly elections the TRS polled 51.42 per cent votes in all seven segments put together. The ‘Prajakutami’ or Peoples’ Alliance, led by the Congress secured 31.62 per cent votes while the BJP finished third with 9.26 per cent votes.

The TDP, which was part of the ‘Prajakutami’, failed to win a single Assembly segment here. Reeling under the crushing defeat in Assembly polls, the TDP is not contesting the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana. The Congress thus hopes to get the TDP votes. Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS), which were also constituents of the ‘Prajakutami’, have declared their support for Congress candidates.

In previous Lok Sabha elections, former IAS officer and Lok Satta Party leader Jayaprakash Narayan and former IPS officer and YSR Congress Party’s leader V. Dinesh Reddy were also in the fray, both securing over one lakh votes each.

The YSR Congress , which stayed away from Assembly polls, is also not contesting the elections in Telangana. The TRS hopes to get the voters of YSR Congress sympathisers.

If Naidu is Bhallala Deva, who is Modi?

Share

One does not know who scripted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech at Rajahmundry on Monday, but his comments comparing Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu with Bhallala Deva of Telugu film Bahubali turned out to be a roaring hit.

The comments went viral in the social media with Naidu’s pictures being shown along the side of Bhallala Deva, the villain character in Bahubali.

Modi’s intention of comparing Naidu with Bhallala Deva was that both would go to any extent to usurp power, even it required backstabbing of one’s own kin.

Interestingly, the character of Bhallala Deva in the film was made by Daggubati Rana, who also played the role of Chandrababu Naidu in the NTR biopics – Katha Nayakudu and Maha Nayakudu.

However, Modi’s comments have expectedly not gone down well with the TDP. Naidu’s son and IT minister Nara Lokesh did not waste much time in reacting to Modi’s comments.

Lokesh on Tuesday described Modi as “Kalakeya” in Bahubali-1. He stated that Chandrababu Naidu is not Bhallala Deva, but Bahubali who strived for Andhras raising their head with self-esteem. On the other hand, Modi, like Kalakeya, was raiding the southern state for power with the support of betrayers like Jagan.

“Chandrababu is here to protect the heritage of the state. But Modi is chowkidar to protect the heritage of Jagan’s illegal assets,” said Lokesh.

He asked Modi not to make fun out of Polavaram project, which is the lifeline of Andhra people.

Naidu jealous of Jagan for attracting film stars!

Share

Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu belongs to a family of film stars. He is the son-in-law of legendary actor N T Rama Rao and brother-in-law of NTR’s son and senior actor Nandamuri Balakrishna.

Unfortunately, Naidu has not been able to get any support from the film industry nor are any film stars coming forward to campaign for the TDP in the present elections in the AP.

On the other hand, several film stars are joining the YSR Congress party headed by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who neither has any connections with film industry nor is he so glamorous face to attract the stars.

Starting from Posani Krishna Murali to Pruthviraj, Jagan got unexpected support from several film actors.

Mohan Babu, Manchu Vishnu, Ali, Raja Ravindra, Shivaji Raja, Jeevitha, Rajasekhar, Hema and many other actors of Telugu film industry have expressed solidarity with Jagan. The star-studded campaign has definitely been helping Jagan in a big way.

Naturally, Naidu is feeling jealous of Jagan’s popularity. Having failed to find any reasoning for the actors making a beeline to the YSRC, Naidu attributed it to the threats from Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

He alleged that the film stars are compelled to join the YSRC as they had been facing severe threats from KCR.

Since the Telugu film industry is mostly based in Hyderabad, the Telangana chief minister is intimidating them and bringing pressure on them to join the YSR Congress party, he alleged.

Any takers for this argument?

Prabhas Fans Dead Against PK in Bhimavaram

Share

Pawan Kalyan is facing uphill task in Bhimavaram assembly constituency as all Prabhas’s fans (invariably entire community of Rajus) have decided not to vote for Pawan Kalyan at all.Not a single vote should go to Pawan Kalyan is the oath the large number of Prabhas fans in this constituency have taken recently.

Bhimavaram also does have large chunk of Kapu community voters, but Rajus dominate here. All Rajus are Prabhas’s fans. Three years ago, Bhimavaram town witnessed huge clash between Pawan Kalyan fans and the fans of Prabhas.

Pawan Kalyan’s fans destroyed public property and burnt flex boards as they felt that Prabhas’ fans had taken down flexes and banners that were put up to commemorate Pawan Kalyan’s birthday. It is not yet clear who did provoke the first. Since then, the gap between both group of fans has further widened.

Now Prabhas’s fans are doing campaign against Pawan Kalyan and asking everyone to vote for YSRC party candidate instead.Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan contesting from two seats – Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram. His brother Naga Babu is contesting from Narsapuram Loksabha constituency and Bhimavaram is part of this LS.

The current situation would put both Naga Babu and Pawan Kalyan in big trouble, as Prabhas’s fans would split the votes. As polling day is nearing, the situation in Bhimavaram is turning against the Jana Sena leader.

Mohan Babu gets 1 Yr jail in cheque bounce case

Share

Errum Manzil court in Hyderabad on Tuesday sentenced Tollywood veteran actor Mohan Babu to one year imprisonment in a cheque bounce case. The court clarified that all the sentences would be served concurrently.

This case was filed by director YVS Chowdhary in 2009. Mohan Babu had given a cheque to director Chowdhary as part of remuneration for the movie “Saleem” starring Mohan Babu’s son Manchu Vishnu but the cheque was not honoured.

YVS repeatedly asked Mohan Babu to clear the money but he refused. So, YVS filed case in court.

The court on April 2nd had held the actor Mohan Babu guilty in the case.

Also, the Magistrate asked Mohan Babu to pay Rs 43 lakhs to the complainant. Failing which, he will have to serve another three months imprisonment.

However, he was granted bail in a short period of time.

Jana Sena is Kula Sena: BJP’s GVL

Share

BJP Rajya Sabha MP GVL Narasimha Rao has lashed out at Jana Sena Party and called it ‘Kula’ (caste) Sena. Criticising it, GVL said, “The party should be renamed as Kula Sena as their party president Pawan Kalyan is contesting in constituencies where there are large number of Kapu community votes. This shows Pawan has no trust on himself that he will win at other places”.

However, the one thing GVL missed is, though Pawan is contesting at places where there good number of Kapu votes, he allotted tickets to many irrespective of their caste, religion and financial background. In that way, Jana Sena has proved that it is not a regular political party and is here to bring a change in new age politics.

GVL is campaigning for his party in Kakinada. Speaking to the media, the MP kept counter-attacking TDP and Jana Sena. When the media asked whether YSR Congress is their ally or not, GVL expressed his intolerance.

Looks like GVL has found foot in his own mouth.

Pawan Kalyan @ They Cheered. They Used. They Backstabbed

Share

The name is Pawan Kalyan. And these people uttered it umpteen times. They cheered for him at many events. Then they used his craze to get more attention and made most out of it. But finally, they backstabbed him at the right time when it comes to giving support. That’s the stark truth. Here come the folks who are not even talking about Pawan Kalyan and his Janasena Party though they made most out of his craze when it comes to their movies.

Firstly we have young hero Nithin who claimed himself to be a hardcore Pawan Kalyan fan and stated that he performed Tholiprema scenes during Jayam auditions and then got selected by Teja. This hero neither talks about Janasena nor endorses the party. Maybe occasionally he might have put that cannot-avoid-this kind of tweet, but for the kind of support he got from Pawan Kalyan, surely Nithin has to talk and walk Janasena as this political battle is quite important for the powerful star of Telugu cinema. Yet, there is no sign of Nitin anywhere.

And then comes comedian Ali, who is popular for his loose talk on the beauty of heroines, and then claims to be a soulmate of Pawan Kalyan. But when it comes to supporting him politically, generally anyone stands by their friends, but this best friend felt that their ideologies are not matching, thereby he joined YSR Congress. Similarly, we have ‘blade’ fame Bandla Ganesh who keeps telling his kids that god looks like Pawan Kalyan, but he joined Congress party rather standing by God’s side, his favorite God’s side if we have to say.

We have the likes of Kona Venkat as well, who have claimed that they are super good friends and wellwishers of Pawan Kalyan, but when it comes to politically supporting him, they feel that Pawan is not enough. Well, its time for Pawan Kalyan to estimate, analyze and understand who are his true fans.

Shruti Talks On Her Father’s Political Entry

Share

Tollywood actress and singer, Shruti Haasan, rose to prominence after doing successful films like Gabbar Singh, Race Gurram, Srimanthudu, Premam and many more. She also proved the world her immense talent in fields like playback singing and songwriting. She has also earned her own identity now in South film industry apart from being called as legendary actor Kamal Haasan’s daughter.

In one of her recent interactions with a popular newspaper, Shruti opened up about many things happening in her life. She claimed that she is doing an English musical album in the UK and she had to dedicate a whole one year to get the intended results. This is the reason why she chose to stay away from films for one year, she said.

She also spoke on doing a Telugu film soon. She confirmed that she has been narrated with a few good scripts last week and will soon finalize one. When asked about her father, Kamal Haasan’s, entry into active politics, Shruti said that she is very happy to see his father doing good for the society and in fact, she herself learned many things about political scenarios happening in the country.

She further said that, though she had less interest in politics before, after her father’s entry, she got interested in understanding people’s problems. “People like my father are absolutely necessary for today’s political world. He has a great vision towards the subject and his movies are also a good example to show how much he is passionate about eradicating corrupt society. I hope people think and vote to a deserving leader this time,” she said.

Niharika Konidela Needs a Break?

Share

When Niharika Konidela had decided to plunge into acting, there was a lot of hope among Mega fans. Since daughters from other families like Lakshmi Manchu and Manjula Ghattamaneni have failed to meet the high expectations, many thought Niharika would break the jinx and set a new precedent in Tollywood.

Adding to the buzz, her debut web series Muddapappu Avakai has managed to garner the attention. But unfortunately, her films haven’t become successful. Right from her debut film Oka Manasu to Happy Wedding to the latest Suryakantham, Niharika has scored hat-trick disasters. With this track record, mega fans are unhappy with Niharika’s choice of films.

Probably, she should take some time off and sit and observe where things are going wrong about her acting career. She should take a break and should comeback with a nice film. Let’s wait and see, what is in store for Niharika.

Instagram Starlet Failing To Cash On The Craze

Share

While Bigg Boss2 stint added to make her famous, she is already a diva when it comes to Dubsmash and Tik Tok videos. And then, she garnered 1 million fans on the photo-sharing blogging site, a feat that only a few popular heroines will be achieving at her age.

She is none other than Deepthi Sunaina, who has created a storm on social media with her cute looks and naughty acts. However, this young girl who is still in her teens is not able to turn that craze into a film career, feel film experts. As she appears at some local ribbon cutting events, this talk just got doubled.

Actually, if Deepthi approaches directors for roles, then surely she might get some luck. She needs to hire some managers, and meeting casting directors as well to get chances in Tollywood. When the Telugu industry is running after Priya Prakash Varrier for her immense craze, why not Deepthi Sunaina?

But to make opportunities knock the door one has to be approachable. And that’s where our own Instagram star makes to work it out.
