GST Officials Continue To Haunt Mahesh!
It looks like the GST woes will not leave Mahesh Babu anytime soon. A couple of months ago, the GST Commissionerate had blocked the Superstar’s bank accounts over an alleged non-payment of service tax of Rs 18.5 lakhs. In a statement, Mahesh said that the matter has been in the court and that he has always been a law-abiding citizen.
Now, Mahesh’s newly launched world-class superplex AMB Cinemas has come under the GST department’s scanner. The GST anti-profiteering wing, Ranga Reddy district, on Tuesday served a showcause notice on AMB Cinemas for violating GST norms.
In a raid conducted on the multiplex, the GST anti-evasion team found out that AMB Cinemas had not reduced the ticket prices even after the central government’s notification. Furthermore, AMB Cinemas had pocketed Rs 35 lakh in January 2019 while violating the anti-profiteering clause in the CGST Act. The multiplex authorities have been asked to cough up Rs 35 lakhs with immediate effect. The GST officials were authorised to book a case against AMB Cinemas under Section 171 of the CGST Act, 2017.
Meanwhile, the AMB Cinemas’ spokesperson maintained that they had not received any notice from GST officials. He also said that they had only obtained a court order fixing the ticket price as per new GST guidelines. The new ticket rates would be effective from February 22nd.
The GST Council had reduced the GST over ticket prices and the new rates became effective from January 1st. For tickets costing more than Rs 100, the tax has been reduced from 28% to 18%. And for the tickets which are of Rs 100 or less, the GST rate was pegged at 12% instead of 18% earlier.

However, Renu is not playing the role of hero’s sister or something else, but she will be seen as Hemalatha Lavanam, who happens to be the daughter of prominent Telugu poet Gurram Joshua.
Late Hemalatha is a great personality, social reformer and atheist, known for her good work of reforming dreaded dacoits in Chambal Valley and other regions into normal life. Also, she fought against the Jogini system and untouchability as well. We have to see if she also reformed Stuartpuram robbers too, whose role is now being played by Renu Desai on screen.
That’s a terrific choice to make a comeback and hope that Renu will excel big time.
Rana’s Next With Horror Film Director
Baahubali star Rana Daggubati is one of the most busiest stars in Tollywood at the moment. He is currently shooting for as many as five movies in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. And, Rana’s new film had its official announcement today.
Rana will next be acting under the direction of Milind Rau, who turned director with Siddharth’s Tamil-Hindi bilingual horror drama, Aval (The House Next Door) in 2017. The film also released in Telugu as Gruham.
Rana’s new film will be produced by Gopinath Achanta under his production house VishwaShanti Pictures. Milind has finished scripting already and is currently giving finishing touches to the dialogue version. If things go as planned, the project will begin in August later this year.
Heroine Vijayasanthi Suggested Me To Do That
Back in the late 70s and whole of 80s, actress Y Vijaya is a sparkler as she played various roles in numerous films including that of side characters, heroine, character artist and as a villain. Recently she appeared on Telugu silver screen after nearly 18 years in F2 movie.
While sharing her thoughts, Y Vijaya spoke about few film industry veterans who are now not in a position to lead their daily life with ease due to lack of money. As Vijaya settled down quite strongly in Chennai with businesses being run by her husband and daughter, many wonder how come she achieved all that.
“Actually I’ve to credit heroine Vijaysanthi for that. When I’ve turned to character roles in the late 80s, she advised me to invest money on assets and build a shopping mall such that I could live on rents. My husband and I took that idea seriously and constructed a couple of commercial complexes in Chennai. We are living on those rents only” said Y Vijaya, in an interview.
Probably other actors should take a clue or two from Y Vijaya’s personal revelation when it comes to managing finances for a better later life.
‘KCR Blackmailing Heroes’, Babu On Jagan-Nag Meeting
Yesterday, hero Akkineni Nagarjuna and YS Jagan’s meeting was the hot topic of discussion among the political circles. There came unconfirmed reports that Nag talked about the political equations for the Guntur MP seat with Jagan. However, the Akkineni hero clarified that the meeting with YSRCP chief was personal and has no significance.
Reacting to this TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was surprised. In a teleconference with his party leaders, Naidu said, “Heroes are meeting Jagan who is a defaulter and are surrendering themselves. What message the heroes are sending to the people of Andhra with such acts,” questioned Chandrababu. He further added that KCR is blackmailing Andhra businessmen and heroes who have their assets in Hyderabad, to support Jagan in the upcoming elections.
The AP CM directed his party leaders to take the hidden agenda of Modi, KCR and Jagan to the people and opined that if TDP is voted to power for the second time, then KCR’s ploy will not work out and so he is luring politicians and heroes.
How Is KCR Helping Jagan Win Polls?
Ever since Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao declared that he would give a ‘return gift’ to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu in reciprocation to the latter’s campaign in Telangana elections, everybody is curious how the gift would be.
One section of the media predicted that KCR would straightaway campaign for YSR Congress party led by Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in the ensuing assembly elections to AP to defeat Naidu.
Others said KCR might extend financial assistance and moral support to Jagan.
Some others said he would send his party leaders and also his friend Asasuddin Owaisi to campaign for Jagan.
It is not clear which strategy KCR will adopt in the coming days, but a latest development has given an indication that he wants to give a return gift to Naidu by invoking divine powers to oust the latter from power.
It appears it is KCR who was behind the statement of Sri Visakha Sarada Peetham seer Swamy Swaroopanandendra that he would perform a yagam for the defeat of the TDP in the coming elections.
Before the Telangana elections, this same Swamiji performed Raja Syamala Yagam at the farmhouse of KCR at Erravelli in Siddipet district, seeking divine blessings for the victory of the TRS.
After the TRS came to power, KCR’s faith in the Swamiji increased and he immediately went to Visakhapatnam to fulfil his vow.
He also performed another thanks-giving Maha Rudra Sahita Sahasra Chandi Yadam at Erravelli again under the auspices of same Swamiji.
Now, KCR reportedly requested the Visakha seer to perform another Yagam in Andhra Pradesh exclusively for the defeat of Naidu and victory of YSRC in the elections.
Since Swamiji has also been against Naidu since the Tirumala missing jewellery controversy, he readily agreed to do such a yagam.
Interestingly, the Visakha seer has also become closer to Jagan of late, though the latter is a Christian by faith. His photographs with Jagan giving blessings to him became a big controversy.
So, the seer will perform a Yagam under the auspices of KCR to seek divine powers to remove Naidu from power!
That is the return gift from KCR to Naidu!
Adivi Sesh Denies Getting Married to Supriya
It is no secret that Adivi Sesh and Nagarjuna’s niece Supriya are in love relationship. Entire Tollywood knows about their relationship.
However, they didn’t admit it to the media yet. But suddenly, there have been rumors that they are taking their relationship to the next level.
From the past few months, industry is abuzz that Akkineni family is gearing up for another wedding celebration.
Fueling fire to these speculations, Adivi Sesh recently tweeted that that he would make a big announcement towards end of Feb. So, media started writing about their wedding.
But now, Adivi Sesh now clarifies on this. Although he has not mentioned Supriya’s name nor he said a word about marriage, he said he is solely focused on career. “Nothin else” is there in his life, he added.
The Goodachari actor further tweeted, “Guys n gals, the only big thing happening in my life right now is movies. Acting. Writing. Trying to live the dream by doing what I love. Trying to keep my head down. Work hard. Keep getting better. Keep doing my best. Nothing else. 🙂 Love, Sesh.”
Supriya took divorce from her first husband and has a kid with her first marriage.
Pic Talk: Sharwa in salt & pepper beard!
Hero Sharwanand is currently shooting for his untitled movie under the direction of Sudheer Varma.
The film is progressing in Spain now wherein important scenes involving Sharwa and Kajal are being shot. This happens to be the first combination of Sharwa and Kajal.
Like all Sudheer Varma’s films, even this movie has a different plot but it’s genre is yet to be revealed and hero Sharwa is said to be doing two different roles in the movie.
We can see Sharwa sporting a salt and pepper beard in the working still and his wardrobe is also quite formal enough that says something about his character. Kajal appears in her usual charm.
Sithara Entertainments banner is producing the movie and aiming for summer release.
Balakrishna Backtracks on His Promise?
Buyers felt happy when Nandamuri Balakrishna agreed to share the losses of ‘NTR Kathanayakudu’.
They are relieved to know that Balakrishna came forward to give 40 percent of the revenues of the second part to compensate all the buyers with every penny.
It was hailed as Balakrishna’s magnanimous gesture to keep buyers on the safer side.
Having got a thorough assurance, buyers and distributors have prepared all arrangements for the release of second part of NTR Biopic titled “NTR Mahanayakudu”. The movie is releasing this Friday.
But latest buzz in the industry is that Balakrishna has now backtracked on the promise.
All the distributors are reportedly now got the information that they will only get the commission but no refund. Upon learning this, the buyers left in shock.
It has to be seen what would be their next move.
Notice to Mahesh’s theatre over violating GST norms
Hyderabad: GST anti-profiteering wing, Ranga Reddy district, officials on Tuesday served a showcause notice on actor Mahesh Babu’s new theatre AMB Cinemas, for violating GST norms.
The officials found that the theatre had not reduced the price of tickets, thereby denying the benefit of reduction in tax rates to movie-goers.
The GST Council had reduced the tax on tickets costing more than Rs 100 from 28 per cent to 18 per cent. Where the ticket price was Rs 100 or less, the GST rate was pegged at 12 per cent from 18 per cent earlier. The rates were effective from January 1.
The Ranga Reddy GST Commissionerate anti-profiteering of wing inspected various multiplexes within the twin cities and collected sample tickets from a few.
It was found that AMB Cinemas was continuing to charge at the old GST rates, following which a showcause notice was issued.
The sleuths were authorised to book a case under Section 171 of the CGST Act, 2017.
