No place for women in KCR cabinet!

Share

For the second successive term, women MLAs do not find any place in the council of ministers of Telangana government. It continues to be an all-male cabinet in Telangana.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who expanded his two-member cabinet on Monday, did not bother about giving representation to at least one woman MLA.

Out of 119 assembly seats, KCR gave the party tickets to only six women, of which three MLAs won their seats.

Padma Devender Reddy, who was Deputy Speaker in the dissolved House, has been re-elected from Medak constituency.

TRS candidate for Khanapur Assembly constituency Rekha Naik a tribal and Gongidi Sunitha Reddy from Alair also retained their seats.

In the last cabinet between 2014 and 2018, too, KCR did not take even a single woman MLA into his cabinet.

It was expected that at least this time, the TRS chief would give representation to at least one of the three women MLAs, but he disappointed them once again.

Ironically, KCR’s daughter and Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha shouts from the rooftops about lack of adequate representation to women in the state and central legislatures and pitches for women’s reservation bill in Parliament. But she conveniently ignored the neglect of women by her own father in his government in Telangana.

As expected, KCR inducted 10 ministers in the cabinet which was expanded after a gap of 67 days of coming to power for a second successive term.

It was on December 13 that KCR was sworn in as the chief minister along with senior cabinet colleague Md Mahmud Ali and since then, the expansion has been hanging in balance.

Now, the strength of the cabinet has gone up to 12. The chief minister can induct another six ministers but he will do it only after Lok Sabha elections.

Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh E S L Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new ministers at Raj Bhavan at 11.33 am.

While four ministers – Etela Rajender from Huzurabad, G Jagadeesh Reddy from Suryapet, Talasani Srinivas Yadav from Sanathnagar and Allola Indrakaran Reddy from Nirmal held the cabinet posts in the previous tenure, the remaining six – Singireddy Niranjan Reddy (Vanaparthi), Koppula Eswar (Dharmapuri), Errabelli Dayakar Rao (Palakurthi), Vemula Prasanth Reddy (Balkonda, V Srinivas Goud (Mahabubnagar) and Chamakura Malla Reddy (Medchal) were inducted into the cabinet for the first time.

What Next For Harish Rao?

Share

Senior Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao is definitely a disgruntled man for being denied a berth in the Telangana cabinet which was expanded by his uncle, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday.

But, Harish Rao did not show it up on his face, when he came to Raj Bhavan to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the 10 newly inducted ministers.

He sat beside his brother-in-law and KCR’s son K T Rama Rao and was found chatting with him without any expressions on his face.

Like Harish Rao, KTR also did not make it to the cabinet, but there is a difference between the two. Though he did not get the cabinet post, KTR is already a de facto chief minister who has been indirectly calling the shots in the administration. And in any case, he is likely to ascend the CM throne soon after the Lok Sabha elections.

However, Harish Rao, who held the most important portfolio of irrigation in the previous government, was deliberately left out, as it was pretty evident that KCR does not want him to pose any threat to KTR if the latter becomes the chief minister.

Though there is a talk that Harish Rao will be forced to contest Lok Sabha elections from Medak, latest reports say it is unlikely and he will be asked to continue just as an MLA.

This has left Harish sulking, but he tried to put up a brave face.

“I am prepared to work as an ordinary TRS worker. I am not unhappy with not getting the cabinet berth,” he told media after the swearing-in ceremony.

He said he was a loyal TRS worker and he would abide by whatever decision his party leader KCR took.

“I am ready to accept whatever responsibility I am entrusted with. I have no groups in the party,” he said and appealed to the media not to go by any reports in the social media about his disgruntlement.

Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.

The ministers who took oath are A. Indrakaran Reddy, Eatala Rajender, Koppula Eshwar, T. Srinivas Yadav, V. Prashanth Reddy, S. Niranjan Reddy, V. Srinivas Goud, E. Dayakar Rao, Malla Reddy and G. Jagadishwar Reddy.

This was the first cabinet expansion by KCR, who took over as the Chief Minister for a second term on December 13.

Assistant Directors Feeling Easy To Meet Prabhas

Share

Hunk hero Prabhas has become a sensation with the super success of Baahubali and that is the reason many star directors now want to work with him. After wrapping Saaho, he joined the sets of his next, a love story set in Europe, and now listening to other scripts as well.

Though the likes of KGF director Prashant Neel and others have bounced various scripts to Prabhas, he is said to be listening new stories from youngsters too. He is said to have become an easily accessible actor for assistant directors who want to narrate a story to him.

Recently Rajamouli’s assistant, one Krishna, is said to have narrated a story to him and UV Creations folks are working out all the economics to see if the project will work out. And a couple of other assistant directors of some star directors like Puri Jagan and Koratala Siva are also waiting in the line to narrate their scripts to Baahubali.

With two films already getting ready to release back to back, we have to see what will be the next move of Prabhas.

‘Thugs of Hindostan is not really my film’

Share

Many Bollywood films in 2018 have left people in great disappointment. Two of such most-hyped movies were Zero and Thugs of Hindostan. They sunk lower than people’s expectations.

Both Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero and Aamir Khan’s TOH had Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif as a lead actress. The actress usually takes the whole responsibility when a film reaches debacle. But she believes that Thugs Of Hindostan was not really her film. The reason is that this film has merely two songs and a few scenes of Katrina’s. Her role in the film was hardly seen and hence, she did not get upset as much as the film-makers. She said her emotions weren’t attached to the film as there was no such memorable role she played.

She continued claiming that both Aamir and the director Vijay Krishna are her good friends. But what went wrong in the film is still unknown. Unfortunately, the film failed to get glowing reviews from the critics and the general public.

Coming to the film Zero, Katrina’s performance was huge and has been highly-appreciated by many. She’s got copious time to prove her acting on screen. However, the potential of the film went wasted in a jiffy. The storyline could not impress and it was considered a poor attempt.

On the working front, Katrina’s next project is with Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat, alongside Salman Khan.

Before NTR And After NTR: They Changed

Share

There will be always one particular batch on social media that keeps writing critical reviews of anything and everything. And that batch has received a rude shock in the recent times and they have changed from biggest fans to enemies now.

Apparently, when the news of Krish Jagarlamudi directing NTR biopic has come out, there are people who were upset as to why Teja has left and why Ram Gopal Varma is not given a chance. But there is this super ‘positive’ batch that came with lines like ‘NTR Biopic In Best Hands’ and they created havoc on social media with their support to Krish.

And now that NTR Kathanayakudu was out and the trailer of Mahanayakudu failed to make an impact, this same ‘positive’ batch is busy blasting Krish. Interestingly people from Krish’s exclusive fans are accusing on social media that the director did gross injustice to a film which could have become a lifetime achievement.

This moral police that changed loyalties before #NTR and after #NTR is now waiting for the film to hit cinemas. In case if the film clicks, wonder what would they say. They will switch as usual!

That’s Why I Didn’t Direct Balayya’s Film -Varma

Share

Even before Teja exited and Krish took over the reins of #NTR Biopic that features Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead, it is Ram Gopal Varma who was supposed to direct the movie. But the director was immediately out of the scene and none knows what went wrong.

“If you’re taking Mahatma Gandhi’s life and you are not making a movie on his fight with Britishers, then there is no point in making a biopic. Similarly NTR’s rise to a star and his stardom are just incidents, but the real drama started when Lakshmi Parvathi entered his life. What is the point of making biopic if you’re not showing that?” asked Varma, revealing the reason behind his exit. He further added, “That is the reason I said a no to them”.

So should we now say that Lakshmi’s NTR was fueled by that anger that Balayya didn’t give him chance to direct NTR biopic? “Not at all. I’m not a mad person to do such things. As NTR happens to be a public figure, anyone could make a movie on him and I’m trying to show the world the unseen aspect” Varma articulated.

With Lakshmi’s NTR trailer getting a massive thumbs up from all quarters, looks like Ram Gopal Varma is in full josh to make the best of it. Let’s hope that this hype will not fizzle out in theatres.

Pic Talk: Mahanati Meets Basavatarakam

Talented actors Vidya Balan and Keerthy Suresh met each other at TSR Awards event the other day. Though they might have known each other since a long time, their meet for onlookers completely give a though about their recent roles they played in two different films.

It is more like Mahanati posed for a picture with Basavatarakam. Keerthy Suresh excelled as Savitramma in Mahanati and so did Vidya Balan as NTR’s wife Basavatarakam in NTR Kathanayakudu.

It is a treat for all the fans of both these extremely talented and beautiful actresses, and also for the fans of those biopics. Well, that’s a picture of reel Basavataram and Mahanati posing together.

Rajamouli Talks About RRR At Harvard University

Share

Other day, ace director SS Rajamouli has made his presence felt at Harvard Kennedy School’s Student Conference, where he spoke on the topic of ‘Entertainment in Masses’. On the sidelines of this event, the star director revealed a bit about his upcoming project RRR.

Though the Baahubali maker is quite careful when it comes to talking more about the film, he has stated that RRR is another pan-Indian film coming from his stable. “Like Baahubali, even RRR has content that makes an appeal to the whole of Indian audiences. For the kind of subject it has, audiences from all other states will accept the movie. It’s almost like Baahubali only and gets better”, said Rajamouli, as per reports.

Of course, though Rajamouli hasn’t revealed why RRR will be a pan-Indian movie, the leaked stills from shooting spot are standing as a testimony for his words. The film has a pre-Independence era backdrop and such setup will surely impress the whole of India.

On the other hand, with Rajamouli taking a flight to the USA, Jr NTR spent a week holiday in Dubai, Charan is chilling out with his friends and family in Hyderabad.

No Tickets For Defectors In YSRC After Feb 20?

Share

YSR Congress party president and leader of opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is understood to have made it clear to his party leaders that he would not entertain any defectors after February 20.

He virtually set February 20 as the deadline for the leaders from other parties who were willing to join the YSRC.

He reportedly gave instructions that those who joined before the deadline will only get the party ticket to contest the elections.

Even if some leaders want to join the party at a later stage, they would not be considered for giving the party tickets to fight the coming elections.

According to party sources, Jagan will be leaving for London on February 20 to spend some time with his daughter Varsha Reddy, who is pursuing her graduation in economics at London School of Economics.

In fact, he was supposed to visit his daughter last month itself, but dropped out at the last moment as she was busy with her examinations and would not be able to spend time with her parents.

Jagan will be back to Hyderabad only after five or six days and by that time, the election atmosphere would be charged up and he would have hectic schedule for electioneering.

So, he wants to finish off the selection of candidates at the earliest. As such, there would be no place for defectors at the later stage.

It is learnt that at least 20 leaders from ruling TDP are seriously planning to shift loyalties to Jagan’s party sooner or later.
