Vadra urges people to keep Priyanka safe
Robert Vadra on Monday urged people for safety of Priyanka Gandhi, his wife and Congress General Secretary, saying the political atmosphere is “vindictive and vicious”.
His remark came ahead of Priyanka’s first road show after she entered active politics nearly a fortnight ago, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on Monday. Congress President Rahul Gandhi and many other senior party leaders also participated in the road show. She was appointed party General Secretary for eastern UP last month.
Vadra took to Facebook to say, “There is a very vindictive and vicious political atmosphere… But I know, it’s her duty to serve the people and now we hand her to the people of India. Please keep her safe.” He also wished her luck on her political debut.
“My best wishes to you P (Priyanka) on your new journey of working in UP and serving the people of India,” Vadra posted the message.
He also praised her for being a “perfect wife and mother”.
Vadra has been grilled by the Enforcement Directorate in a money laundering case linked to a Bikaner land deal. He will be questioned again on Tuesday in Jaipur.
Jana Sena To Contest 8-10 LS Seats In Telangana!
Jana Sena Party headed by power star Pawan Kalyan did not contest the assembly elections in Telangana held in December last, though he had announced well in advance that his party would definitely take part in the elections.
His reasoning was that his party did not have enough time for the preparation due to premature dissolution of the state assembly by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in September.
Though there were three months between the dissolution and the elections, Pawan did not take risk as he knew that his party had not much base in Telangana. However, his party leaders discreetly supported the TRS in some constituencies like Kukatpalli.
It appears the Jana Sena chief is keen on fielding his party candidates in the Lok Sabha elections in Telangana. It was evident from the appointment of Jana Sena parliamentary committees for as many as seven LS constituencies in the state.
On Sunday, Pawan appointed commitees for Medak, Nalgonda, Bhongir and Warangal Lok Sabha constituencies.
Earlier, he had appointed similar commitees for Secunderabad, Malkajgiri and Khammam constituencies. According to sources, he might appoint committees for another two or three constituencies.
Apparently, Pawan is of the view that Jana Sena has gained some presence in these constituencies and therefore, has the chance of putting up some fight, though it is unlikely that it can win any of these seats.
In any case, one has to wait and see whether Pawan will really field candidates in these constituencies or back out at the last moment as he had done during the assembly elections.
Modi has lied, lost credibility: Congress on Andhra
Accusing Narendra Modi of lying about the Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday said the Prime Minister is left with no credibility.
Extending support to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who is on a 12-hour-long fast here, Gandhi and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanded fulfillment of the commitment of granting special status to that state.
“If the Prime Minister makes a commitment to somebody in this country should he fulfil that commitment or not? What sort of Prime Minister is he that he has not fulfilled that commitment? Are the people of Andhra not part of India?” said Gandhi at the Andhra Pradesh Bhavan here.
“Modi lies wherever he goes. He went to Andhra Pradesh and lied about special status. I want to make it clear that whatever promises he makes, the Prime Minister has to fulfil,” said Gandhi adding, “I stand with the people of Andhra.”
Speaking on the occasion, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also asked the Modi government to fulfil the promise of special status to the state.
“We demand that the promises made by the government of India at the time of reorganisation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, particularly special status to Andhra must be given.
“It is fair that these demands are implemented without any further loss of time,” said Singh.
Prominent opposition leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Trinamool Congress MP Derek O’Brien were also present at the Ashoka Road venue, where the Telugu Desam Party President is on a fast demanding the Centre to accord SCS and fulfil other commitments made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Nagababu Opens Up About Niharika’s Marriage
Ever since Mega brother Nagababu’s daughter Niharika Konidela had made her acting debut a few years ago, there have been occasional speculations about her marriage. At one point, there were rumours that Niharika will marry her cousin and hero Sai Dharam Tej. However, it was later revealed that Mega family had no such plans to get Sai and Niharika married. Later, Niharika was linked with another hero and even those rumours ended up biting the dust.
Now, Nagababu himself has opened up about Niharika’s marriage. In a latest interview with a noted YouTube channel, Nagababu said that he has begun finding the right alliance for his daughter. He also said that he will be happy if his prospective son-in-law hails from the Kapu community and that he will be more than happy to get his daughter married outside his caste as well.
Nagababu further revealed that when Niharika expressed her desire to act in movies, there was a huge discussion in his family about whether to let his daughter step into the film industry or not. “I gave my permission only because Niharika insisted a lot about her acting dreams. But I also told her that I will get her married after 3 years of her acting career. I had even suggested her to act in web series if not movies after marriage. Niharika agreed to my suggestion and then stepped into Tollywood. I did not pressurise her about marriage until 2018, but now, I will get her married soon,” said Nagababu.
Nagababu also said that his prospective son-in-law must be a good-hearted person from a decent family. He said that he does not have any caste feelings and that he equally respects his Kapu community and all other communities. “I am not particular about the caste of my would be son-in-law. “If I find the right man in our caste, it’ll be great. If not, I will search for the right person in other castes,” Nagababu said.
Joke: Naidu sets deadline for Modi on SCS!
Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is trying hard to create an impression that he fighting a pitched battle with the Central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fetch special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
The NDA government had made it clear several times that there was no possibility of granting special category status to AP.
Even Modi, during his visit to Guntur, gave enough indications to this effect. The TDP MPs have been stalling parliamentary proceedings for several months.
The YSR Congress party leaders also held agitations all over the state and also in New Delhi to highlight the special category status issue. Yet, there is no positive response from the Centre.
Under these circumstances, nobody would expect that Naidu’s one-day “Dharma Porata Deeksha” in New Delhi on Monday would fetch any result.
Yet, the TDP chief sought to hoodwink the people by setting a three-day deadline for Modi to grant the special status to AP.
“The Parliament session will conclude in the next three days. Within this period, the Centre should fulfil all its promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act, including special category status. If Modi fails to sanction the special category status within three days, the people will teach a befitting lesson to him,” he asserted.
Naidu said his government was ready to show accounts for the funds received from the Centre.
“But are you ready to show accounts for the taxes that you have collected from Andhra Pradesh? Will you reveal where you have spent the taxes collected from us?” he asked.
Needless to say, Naidu’s latest ultimatum will not evoke any response from the Modi government and it will be foolish to expect that the Centre would grant special status within three days, fearing Naidu’s threats.
And it is anybody’s guess that the TDP chief is only aiming at gaining some political mileage in the coming elections!
