Plight of Telugu students In the US: Struggling to stay there, unable to return

Once again, the plight of Telugu students in the United States, has hit the headlines with an immigration fraud coming out. About 200 Telugu students were reportedly under police detention and the officials are considering to deport all of them.
Students who reach US for higher studies and fancy job, are unable to get H1B visa which is a lifeline to stay for a longer time in the country. Post completing MS, few of them do Optional Practical Training (OPT) for about three years. In this time, they can apply for H1B visa. Due to severe competition and limited slots, many find it tough to get visa. In order to stay for some more time and test their luck, students are doing doubling PG. But this is turning out to be a huge financial burden on them.
Unable to return to India, somehow students are struggling and staying back in the US. Students from Telugu states are in high number going to the US compared to the other states in India.
A total of 4,800 universities are there in US. But many of them have no accreditation. Students are blindly applying for the universities without proper knowledge and research. Students who study in universities with no accreditation can only be for a year to work instead of three years under Curricular Practical Training (CPT).
US offers 65,000 H1B visa for foreign working professionals and in addition to that 20,000 will be specially granted for students pursuing MS in the country. People who make it, have no issues but the number of them applying is more than what is being offered currently.

Naidu turns black, AP shuts down!
For a change, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu wore a complete black dress on Friday in protest against the injustice meted out to the state by the Centre.
On the other hand, normal life came to a grinding halt across Andhra Pradesh due to a day-long shutdown called over demands for a special category status to the state.
Though the Telugu Desam Party did not participate in the officially, it supported the bandh called by Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi (PHSS), which is fighting for special status to the state.
The Congress, Left parties and mass organisations, besides students and workers groups also extended support.
HSS chairman Chalasani Srinivas said on the day when the Union Budget was being presented in Parliament, the shutdown was called to draw the nation’s attention towards the plight of Andhra Pradesh due to the Centre not fulfilling the promise to accord special category status.
Buses of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) went off the roads, while shops, business establishments and educational institutions remained closed..
Srinivas along with state Congress chief Raghuveera Reddy and leaders of Communist Party of India (CPI) took part in a protest outside the Jawaharlal Nehru Bus Stand in Vijayawada.
Left parties and student groups staged a protest in Visakhapatnam. Demonstartions were also held in Guntur, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Kurnool, Anantapur and other towns.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, his cabinet colleagues and TDP legislators will attend the Assembly session wearing black badges.
Government Employees Association has also appealed to the employees to wear black badges while attending their duties.
Andhra Pradesh Lorry Owners’ Association, managements of private schools and colleges were also extending support to the shutdown.
Chandrababu Naidu, who has also accused Modi government of going back on commitments made in Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014, will be staging a protest in New Delhi on February 11.
Imitation Best Form Of Flattery: KTR
Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Friday reacted to the Centre announcing a direct cash transfer scheme for farmers on the lines of the state’s “Rythu Bandhu” scheme.
Rama Rao, son of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrshekhar Rao, tweeted that he is “glad that the farmers of India are going to be helped by the Rythu Bandhu”, the brainchild of KCR.
While presenting the Interim Budget for 2019-20 in the Lok Sabha earlier in the day, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal announced the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Yojna to provide income support to small farmers.
Under this scheme, every farmer owning less than two hectares of land will get Rs 6,000 per year in three equal instalments.
“The name may have been changed by the NDA government, in spirit it remains the trimmed version of the ‘Rythu Bandhu’. Jai Kisan,” added Rama Rao, popularly known as KTR.
Under the scheme, farmers in Telangana irrespective of their land holding are getting Rs 8,000 per acre annually, at the rate of Rs 4,000 per acre per crop.
Leaked report: India’s Unemployment rate at 45-year high
In what turn out to be a controversy just 2 months before the Lok Sabha elections and bring headache to the Modi Government, a leaked National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) report states that India’s unemployment rate has been at a 45-year high of 6.1 percent during 2017-18, according to the periodic labour force survey (PLFS). This report apparently was held back by the Modi government and has come to light after two members of the National Statistical Commission (NSC) have resigned on January 28, 2019.
The NSSO survey shows that joblessness is higher in the urban areas compared to rural areas at 7.8%. The report reveals that unemployment stood at 18.7% among urban males aged between 15 and 29 in contrast with 8.1% in 2011-12. Among urban females, it was 27.2 percent in 2017-18; it was 13.1 percent in 2011-12.
The unemployment rate among the educated also has increased in 2017-18 period compared to 2004-05 and 2011-12. Meanwhile, the rate of educated jobless rural women ranged between 9.7 and 15.2%. In 2017-18, it stood at 17.3%.
For rural educated males, the rate was 10.5% in 2017-18, showing a rise from 3.5-4.4 percent between 2004-05 and 2011-12.
Smelling an opportunity in attacking the BJP government, Congress leaders posted a series of remarks on Twitter. Criticising the Modi government, Congress National President tweeted: “NoMo Jobs! The Fuhrer promised us 2 Cr jobs a year. 5 years later, his leaked job creation report card reveals a National Disaster. Unemployment is at its highest in 45 yrs. 6.5 Cr youth are jobless in 2017-18 alone. Time for NoMo2Go. #HowsTheJobs.”
Senior Congress leader tweeted: “We mourn the death of the National Statistical Commission and remember with gratitude its valiant fight to release untainted GDP data and employment data.” Other opposition leaders such as Sitaram Yechury also joined the discourse and tweeted: “Youth unemployment at astoundingly high levels of 13-27%. Lives, Livelihoods lost under Modi government and our most valued asset, our youth put into misery. This has a direct impact on India’s future. Modi’s policies are to just help rich cronies. For the rest, it is Jumlas.”
On the other hand, the Congress is promising an unemployment allowance of Rs. 3000 for youth. With the unemployment data leaked and promises of allowance, we seriously need to think whether the governments want to keep the youth unemployed and use it for their political gains during elections.
#Budget2019: Centre copies Telangana’s Rythu Bandhu scheme
In a surprise move, the NDA government has announced an annual direct income payment of Rs. 6,000 for farmers in the country, directly copying Telangana’s Rythu Bandhu scheme. This announcement was made by Union Minister Piyush Goyal today while presenting the interim budget 2019-2020 terming it “Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi.”
Under the scheme, the government will pay Rs. 6,000 in three instalments of Rs 2,000 each. However, the BJP government’s scheme will be restricted to small and marginal farmers with land holdings not exceeding five acres while the Rythu Bandhu financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per acre per season is provided to all farmers in the State, irrespective of their land holdings.
The Centre’s farm assistance scheme is expected to cover about 12 crore farmers across the country, while Rythu Bandhu benefitted about 58 lakh farmers in Kharif alone. This, the Telangana government, believed would bring down farm distress. While this is a welcome move from the Central government, it also is a political gimmick to provide cash handouts to farmers ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
You Are Unfit To Be MLA : Chandrababu Fires On Vishnu
Chandrababu Naidu, who is usually calm and composed, has breathed fire on BJP MLA Penmetsa Vishnu Kumar Raju. When Vishnu Kumar Raju cracked satires on black shirts, dresses worn by TDP MLAs including CM Chandrababu Naidu as a mark of protest against the Centre for not according Special Category Status, CM Chandrababu Naidu has come down heavily on Vishnu.
Vishnu had earlier spoken in the house and claimed that he had less political experience. He however said he had witnessed several political dramas in the last few years taking pot shots at CBN. Vishnu also criticized Chandrababu for “changing colours” indicating at their black dresses. He had also criticized Naidu for joining hands with Congress against which NTR had founded TDP.
Responding to Vishnu’s comments, an emotional and angry Chandrababu said, “You have no right to be a people’s representative. My blood is boiling against the injustice meted out to Andhra Pradesh by the Centre. As there is no one to ask you (BJP), you’re taking us (AP) for granted. What will you do if I ask? Will you put me in jail? What BJP had given to AP? Compare it with what other states have got? When a new state is carved out, instead of supporting it, you (BJP) is pulling it back.”
Probably in never-seen-before anger and tone, Chandrababu fumed on BJP MLA Vishnu. Naidu said Vishnu is unfit to be the MLA. Naidu also gave a stern warning to BJP MLAs that people of the state won’t let them (BJP MLAs) walk freely on the streets owing to the gross injustice to AP.
While Naidu was venting out his anger, MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju intervened and raised “objection” to Chandrababu’s comments. Chandrababu strong retorted, “Who cares your objection?” Who wants your objection?” Chandrababu said the interests of people is above the interests of individuals and political parties.
Regina Getting Huge Applause In B-Town

While dusky siren Regina Cassandra might have kept the news about this role under the wraps, but she is now being hailed as the new girl in Bollywood whose performance is quite impressive.
After missing out a chance to act with Amitabh Bachchan in her debut Bollywood film Aankhen 2 (the project got halted), finally, Regina made her Hindi debut with Sonam Kapoor’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. As her role was not shown in the trailer and other posters, many thought it is a negligible one.
But actually, Regina played the role of a girl who is in a lesbian relationship with Sonam Kapoor. And that clicked quite well it looks like as Bollywood celebs like Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Farah Khan and others are raving about newbie Regina’s performance. Seems like our dusky hottie is going to grab many opportunities in Bollywood now.
On Tamil and Telugu side, actually Regina tried her best to grab the limelight and big offers, but nothing big has worked out for her so far.
For The First Time, Balayya Asked For Bound Script

Other day on the sets of NTR Mahanayakudu, there came a Chief guest to have lunch with Nandamuri Balakrishna. Yes, you guessed it right, that is none other than Boyapati Sreenu who is going to direct the next film venture of this Nandamuri star.
For the record, while Boyapati delivered only above average and disastrous films with all other heroes, he has scored blockbusters with Balayya through Simha and Legend. But these days, those films might not work again and again. That is the reason why Balayya had invited Boyapati for lunch.
The senior hero is said to have asked the dashing director to come up with the bound script first. After some back to back debacles like Paisa Vasool and now Kathanayakudu, Balayya is said to be taking extra care on the script. With Boyapati known for going to shoot without a properly etched script, Balayya is said to have asked him to work on the script first.
Seems like the flop show of Vinaya Vidheya Rama is now giving some tough times for Boyapati. Hope the director will bounce back strongly.
