As Thammudu gears up for release on July 4th, there’s been renewed media focus on Dil Raju and the aftermath of Game Changer — the big-budget Ram Charan-Shankar film that failed to deliver. During the Thammudu promotions, which also feature Nithiin, the producers Dil Raju and Shirish were finally questioned about the financial setback they suffered earlier this year.
In a candid moment during a promotional interview, Nithiin asked Dil Raju about the turbulent phase between January 10th (Game Changer’s release) and January 14th (Sankranthiki Vasthunnam’s release). He asked, “Did you ever think, what if Sankranthiki Vasthunnam also fails?”
Dil Raju responded honestly:
“I knew on the very first day of Game Changer’s release that we were going to face heavy losses. But I had strong confidence in Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. I didn’t expect it to become such a massive hit, but I believed it would succeed.”
In other interactions, Shirish added that while Sankranthiki Vasthunnam didn’t entirely recover the financial damage, it covered about 60-70% of the losses. He further said:
“If not for Anil Ravipudi, Sri Venkateswara Creations wouldn’t be standing strong today.”
He also revealed that after Game Changer’s release, neither Ram Charan nor Shankar reached out — not even for courtesy.
However, the biggest surprise came during the release trailer event for Thammudu. Dil Raju, speaking with confidence, made a significant announcement:
“Thammudu will be our second big hit this year after Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. We still carry the guilt of Game Changer disappointing fans. But we will make it up. We are already planning another film with Ram Charan. An official announcement will come soon.”
This statement confirms that a Ram Charan–Dil Raju project is very much in the pipeline. Raju had earlier hinted at commitments with top directors like Sukumar, Prashanth Neel, and even SS Rajamouli. Sources also suggest that Sandeep Reddy Vanga is in the mix, making the possibilities exciting for fans.
Meanwhile, Ram Charan is currently filming for Peddi under Buchi Babu Sana’s direction. He’s also set to collaborate with Sukumar once again for a project under Mythri Movie Makers.
With these updates, it’s clear that despite past setbacks, big things are brewing for both Ram Charan and Dil Raju.
