I’m a fan of Sr NTR – Superstar

Share

Several film personalities and entire Nandamuri have graced the audio and trailer launch event of NTR Biopic, featuring Balakrishna & Vidya Balan.

Speaking at the event, Senior Hero and Superstar Krishna Gattamaneni recalled his memories with the legendary actor and politician NTR. Having started his speech by saying ‘I am a fan of Rama Rao Garu’, the senior actor has narrated how he reached out to legendary man during his degree days to seek a role in films. “He asked me to wait for 2-3 years to give a role in films as I looked too young for him. But, in the meanwhile, I was introduced as hero in Thena Manasulu and got a lucky chance to work the favorite Rama Rao garu in my fifth film,” said Superstar.

Krishna also recalled, “During 100 days function of my Pandanti Kapuram movie in Vijayawada, I made an announcement that I wanted to make my next movie with Anna Garu. He too reacted positively on the stage and later finished Devudu Chesina Manushulu in just one schedule and it went on to become a blockbuster hit.” Finally, he said that he worked with Anna Garu as younger brother in all the films they collaborated and said that Balakrishna is exactly looking like NTR.

Krishna also offered his wishes to Balakrishna and hoped that the film brings in much bigger name to him.

Jagan Gets Surprising Wishes!

Share

YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who celebrated his 47th birthday on Friday, received birthday greetings from unexpected quarters: Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Naidu tweeted on his handle: “Warm wishes to @ysjagan garu on his birthday. May he be blessed with health and happiness!” And Jagan promptly replied: “Thank you for the wishes, @ncbn garu!”

Apparently, Naidu remembered how he had to face a lot of criticism from various sections of people for not calling on Jagan, when the latter was attacked with a sharp weapon by a restaurant worker at Visakhapatnam on October 25. On the other hand, he made sarcastic comments on the attack on Jagan’s life.

And there are no instances of Naidu wishing Jagan on any occasion in the past, for which he had received flak from various quarters.

That is why, the TDP president chose to wish Jagan this time. Interestingly, he only wished that Jagan be blessed with health and happiness; and not power!

Another interesting aspect of Jagan’s birthday was greetings from Telangana Rashtra Samithi MP and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha.

“Jagan Anna, many happy returns of the day,” she said in her twitter message. Of course, she greeted him only after a Jagan fan reminded her that it was Jagan’s birthday today and requested her to wish him.

The YSRC president, too, reciprocated her greetings calling her Kavithamma. The exchange of wishes certainly signifies growing friendship between TRS and YSRC!

#NTR Audio: Controvercial part of Mohan Babu’s speech

Share

Veteran firebrand hero Mohan Babu’s speech at NTR Kathanayakudu’s audio launch event is being much talked about already. Mohan Babu started off his speech by recollecting his association with his elder brother, the legendary NT Rama Rao.

Mohan Babu said that he had first met NTR when he was studying at Madras YMCA college. He went on to recollect how his guru Dasari Narayanarao had given him an opportunity to act with NTR in the initial days of his career. Mohan Babu also reminisced how he produced NTR’s last film Major Chandrakanth.

But the most controvercial part of Mohan Babu’s speech was when he asked the film’s director Krish if he has shown a few bad people in NTR’s life as good people. “I am waiting for the movie to know the truth,” Mohan Babu said. He also revealed that NTR had shared several details which he can’t share on the dais publicly.

Within minutes of Mohan Babu’s speech, social media was abuzz with speculations about who the so called bad people Mohan Babu was referring to could be. Well, only Mohan Babu has the answer to the riddle.

Antariksham : Movie Review

Share

Telugu cinema’s first ever space genre ‘Antariksham 9000 KMPH’ is here. Since the film is directed by Sankalp Reddy of critically acclaimed ‘Ghazi’, the expectations are high on this movie.

Let’s analyze.

What is it about?

Indian satellite Mihira faces a technical failure and this will lead to mayhem in global satellite system. Riya (Aditi) and Mohan (Avasarala) tell their space center’s boss (Rehman) that only Dev (Varun) can rectify this problem.

Trouble is that Dev has been stopped working for the center after a failed mission five years ago.

How Riya convinces him and at what length Dev go to restore pride of Indian space scientists forms rest of the story.

Performances:

Varun Tej as an astronaut who has emotional issues has played the role convincingly. His performance in the emotional scenes is worth appreciating.

Aditi Rao Hydari as his colleague is okay. Avasarala as Mohan, Rehman as boss, and Lavanya as Varun’s girlfriend are good.

Technicalities:

Ramakrishna and Monika who had also worked for ‘Rangasthalam’ have provided production design for this film. Their work for space station and rockets is impressive. A lot of effort has gone into this to get it as authentic as possible.

VFX work is neat. Cinematography is another huge plus point. Gnanasekhar’s work is first rate. Editing is neat.

Thumbs Up:

Concept
Space elements
Final moments

Thumbs Down:

Slow narration
Too much of cinematic liberty

Analysis:

Sankalp Reddy made ‘Ghazi The Attack’, a film in the genre of submarine, in a most convincing manner with patriotic elements and that won him National Award.

While his first film went underwater, his second film “Antariksham” moves to space. Sankalp Reddy doesn’t waste time and sets the tone of the movie in the very first scenes.

He introduces the main problem at the very beginning – Indian space center has to tackle the issue of the failed satellite Mihira that would bring bad reputation to the Indian space organisation. Who will solve it? Obviously, the protagonist!

The director has employed classic Hollywood tricks to pen the characterisation of Varun Tej. He is the guy who is “retired” from the work due to an incident and he alone can solve the problem. This is typical Hollywood hero characterisation. To make the narration interesting, the director has given Varun Tej a small love story and a flash back.

The first half goes back and forth with Varun Tej’s personal story and the Space Center’s problem. The main mission to the space comes before the interval.

Later the film focuses on the mission and rest of the movie is set in space. And it goes on expected lines, not so absorbing moments.

The director has stuck to the genre, without deviating from the main plot, and has also added National flags all over, but the sequences don’t arouse the same patriotic feel that ‘Ghazi’ had achieved. The narration is not arresting either. It is simple and plain.

The film also takes too much of cinematic liberty in terms of space travel. Varun changing the course of space mission midway to moon defies the logic. He does as if it is a ‘sharing auto’ (a dialogue in the film).

Despite some flaws, the movie is a right attempt. For the first time we are seeing a space thriller in Telugu and within tight budget the director has achieved the right production design required for this genre.

All in all, ‘Antariksham’ can be termed as a good attempt in the science fiction genre. A better screenplay would have made wonders. A lot was expected from the director but he offers just an okay movie.

Verdict: Plain Space Thriller

An EVM-Tampered Victory?

Share

While the TRS is still celebrating its massive recent electoral victory, Congress leaders on the other hand are keeping themselves busy Congress leaders are busy gathering evidence to file cases in the High Court and Supreme Court and prove that EVMs were tampered with to ensure victory of TRS.

The Congressmen have solid proof in at least 31 constituencies where there were huge discrepancies in number of votes polled on December 7 and the number of votes counted on December 11. This data was collected directly from the website of the Election Commission of India.

The data proves that the number of votes increased while counting when compared with the data released by EC on the polling day.

They also found that the majority with which TRS candidates won in these 31 constituencies is almost equal to the number of votes that increased during counting.

The Congress high command has asked the defeated Congress candidates in these 31 constituencies to file petitions individually in the High Court seeking cancellation of Assembly results and order for counting of VVPAT slips to determine the fairness of polls.

The AICC too has decided to approach Supreme Court challenging TS Assembly results and request for counting of VVPAT slips.

Uttam Cries Foul Over Defections!

Share

The defection of Congress MLCs into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi was not totally unexpected by the Congress leadership, but what shocked them was the proposal to merge the legislature party with the TRS LP.

Soon after the four MLCs met legislative council chairman Swamy Goud and requested that their group is merged with the TRS, Telangana PCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Congress floor leader in council Mohammad Shabbir Ali also met him and requested that the merger proposal of defected MLCs should not be accepted.

“The council chairman is said to be planning to issue a bulletin approving the merger. How can he do that? The defected MLCs have no right to hold the legislature party meeting without the consent of the party leadership and decide to merge it with the TRS. We requested the chairman to go by the legal provisions and act accordingly,” Uttam Kumar Reddy said.

Shabbir Ali wondered whether KCR government had any respect towards democratic practices.

“How can just four MLCs of a 135-year old party to decide on the merger of its legislative party with the TRS? Ours is a national party and decision on merger of the legislature party cannot be taken by a few MLCs,” he said.

They pointed out that the Congress party had given a representation long back over the defection of its leaders into the TRS.

“But no action was taken yet. At the same time, when the TRS gives its representation on the same issue, the chairman reacted within hours and sent notices to those who joined the Congress,” Shabbir Ali criticized.

Shock to Cong: MLCs merge with TRS!

Share

Telangana Congress party, which has already been beaten and bruised in the just concluded assembly elections in the state, received a major shock, when four of its MLCs represented to legislative council chairman K Swamy Goud, asking for merger of their legislature party in the council with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

The MLCs – Akula Lalitha, Santosh Kumar, M S Prabhakar and K Damodar Reddy told Swamy Goud that they had held a meeting of Congress legislature party of the council and resolved to merge it with the TRS legislature party.Accordingly, they wanted the council chairman to acknowledge them as TRS MLCs.Obviously, the move was aimed at avoiding them being disqualified under anti-defection law.

Since Swamy Goud has served notices on four TRS MLAs who joined the Congress before elections asking them why they cannot be disqualified, he would have to do the same in case of Congress MLAs who defected to the TRS. So, to avoid this, they came up with this merger proposal.

Out of 40 MLCs in the legislative council, the Congress had a strength of seven MLCs.

Out of these seven, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy resigned from his membership following his election to the state assembly from Munugode constituency in the recent elections.Of the remaining six, two MLCs Damodar Reddy and Prabhakar had already defected to the TRS before the assembly elections.

Two other MLCs – Lalitha and Santosh met TRS president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday night and expressed their willingness to join the TRS.So, only two MLCs would be left for the Congress: Mohammad Shabbir Ali and Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy but their term will come to an end by March. If they, too, go, the Congress will have no representation in the council!

Happy B’day Jagananna.. Thank You Kavithamma

Share

Ever since CM KCR of Telangana has given enough conditions that they are going to enter Andhra politics, there is this bonhomie between YS Jagan and TRS that is being widely talked about. And every day, this is visible in one way or the other.

On the eve of Jagan’s birthday, some fans have asked KCR’s Kalvakuntla Kavitha to tweet about it. And immediately she tweeted her wishes to the neighboring state’s opposition leader, who is desiring to become CM of state with support from other state’s political parties.

“Jagan Anna.. Many Happy Returns of the Day !!” tweeted TRS MP and Party Supremo’s daughter Kavitha Kalvakuntla a while ago. Replying to the same, YSR Congress president YS Jagan tweeted, “Thank you for your warm wishes Kavithamma”.

This ‘Jagan Anna’ ‘Kavithamma’ talk is now being discussed widely on social media, as folks feel that TRS giving a boost to Jagan is quite on the cards. But will this boost really help the AP Opposition to become the ruler?
