All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) which is eyeing a greater share for the party across India has decided to contest from a few select seats in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Bihar. Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM Chief, himself openly announced at a recent meeting that his party will be contesting Andhra Pradesh, warning AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that “Chandrudu…I’m coming to Andhra.” AIMIM’s contest in AP is also part of TRS Chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao return gift to the TDP Chief.

Similarly, in Maharashtra, the party is mulling over an alliance with Ambedkarite-ideology party Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh for the Aurangabad seat (Lok Sabha seat) and in Aurangabad and Nanded, constituencies that have a significant Muslim population. In the state, it aims to split the Congress and NCP vote by putting pressure on them.

On the other hand, the party will be contesting from Kishanganj (Lok Sabha seat) in Bihar to test waters in the state. Earlier, the party had contested from 38 seats in Uttar Pradesh in 2017 but didn’t make any headway there and faced a similar fate in Andhra Pradesh in 2014 Assembly elections.

The party has 7 MLAs in Telangana, 2 MLAs in Maharashtra while it has one MP, Owaisi himself, from Hyderabad. The party is upbeat about playing a role in K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s Federal Front and believes that it could continue its influence over TRS even if decided to be part of the Front. Looks like MIM’s ambitions are soaring high!

The sudden decision of senior Congress leader Vanteru Pratap Reddy, who put up a strong fight against Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the recent assembly elections in Gajwel constituency, to join the TRS has come as a surprise and shock to many party leaders as well as political observers.

For, Vanteru is known for his fighting spirit and he has been vehemently opposing the TRS in Gajwel for several years.

He had been rallying point for all the anti-TRS forces not only in Gajwel but also in the entire Medak district.

He had been in Telugu Desam Party for a long time before jumping into the Congress party.

Now, the same man joined the TRS in the presence of his bitter rival KCR. The reason cited by Vanteru is that he had got an invitation from KCR and he had accepted it.

However, senior Congress leader and Sangareddy MLA T Jayaprakash Reddy said there was nothing wrong in the decision of Vanteru to join the TRS.

“Vanteru had lost three consecutive elections fighting with the TRS. He has been financially crippled and is exhausted. He has no other option but to join the ruling party for his survival,” he said.

Apparently, KCR gave him a bumper offer. He would be made an MLC and also in-charge of Gajwel constituency.

If KCR happens to move to Delhi to play a role in national politics, Vanteru would be fielded from Gajwel as an MLA and taken into the state cabinet.

Besides, his son would also be given the Medak zilla parishad chairman post. So, why would Vanteru not be tempted?

After watching Vinaya Vidheya Rama in theatres, the basic doubt anyone will get is, had Megastar Chiranjeevi really watched this film? All the excitement he showed at the pre-release event looked like he watched just trailer and got excited.

Reports are coming that director Boyapati Sreenu has completely stage-managed Chiranjeevi by not showing the film to him. As Chiru is known for suggesting changes and deciding the fate of a film before release, it is heard that Boyapati managed not to show the film to the Megastar.

Some say that he should have shown it, as Chiranjeevi would have given him enough suggestions to make the film little workable at the box office. Along with his wife and other family members, Chiru has watched the film only 2 days after the release of the movie in theatres.

Anyway, the film might collect 60 crores share in full run and end up the distributors losing almost 35-40 crores over the movie.

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has advised his party men not to meet TRS leaders when they tour AP. He held a teleconference with TDP ministers and leaders to discuss about KTR and Jagan’s meeting on Federal Front.

“Keep your friendship and relations with TRS leaders personal. But don’t hurt the party’s reputation in the public,” said Naidu. The Telugu Desam boss threatened that he would take severe action if anyone crosses the line. He also expressed anger on Talasani’s statements at Vijayawada Kanaka Durga temple and questioned how can anybody make political statements at temples.

Naidu opined that there are no proper takers for KCR proposed Federal Front and so in a hurry, the Telangana CM arranged a meeting of KTR and Jagan. With this meeting the hide & seek game being played by TRS and YSRCP got revealed, added Naidu.

About the front, AP CM said, “To create a confusion in public which would indirectly benefit BJP, this front is working. It is also making sure, parties against BJP are not getting united ahead of the general elections.”

Amidst rumours that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi is trying to poach TDP’s Kukatpally candidate Nandamuri Suhasini, she has cleared the air on speculation and strongly indicated that she will be with the Telugu Desam Party that her grandfather Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao founded.

Speaking after paying respects to NTR on his death anniversary today, Sushasini said that she will continue to remain in the party and walk the path that her grandfather NTR walked. “We will follow his principles and work to make people happy. Like NTR believed that people are equal to god to him, we believe in his ideals and will strive to achieve them,” she added.

Ever since Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao’s delay in forming the state cabinet, there has been speculation that Suhasini could be poached from the party and be nominated as an MLC while also being offered a Cabinet berth. However, with her statements and presence today along with her uncle and Hindupur TDP MLA Balakrishna, she has made it clear that she will remain with the TDP.

Congress leader, Vijayashanti, who was also the party’s star campaigner in the Telangana Assembly elections, questioned TRS chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao about how people of Andhra Pradesh could trust him with his party’s support of Special Category Status to the state.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has been claiming of late that it supports Andhra Pradesh’s demand for Special Category Status and reiterated the same during TRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao’s meeting with YSRCP Chief Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy.

While this news has been doing rounds and TRS has been portraying that it cares for the interests of Seemandhra people, Vijayashanti asked: “After criticising Andhra people so bitterly and utilising Telangana sentiment to drive wedge between Telugu people and injecting hate, how can KCR or TRS fathom the thought that TRS will write a letter to the Centre demanding Special Status to AP?.”

She said that the people of AP are in a state of confusion as they have already seen the true colours of TRS and their hate for people of Andhra region. “Why simply shower fake and false statements/love, showing that you sympathies with their cause,” she questioned the TRS leadership, stating that the Congress is committed to granting Special Category Status to AP if it comes to power at the Centre.
