Telugu Fastest Growing Language In US
Washington: Telugu is the fastest growing language in the US, says a study by an American think tank. The number of US residents speaking Telugu rose by 86 per cent between 2010 and 2017, according to an online video by the World Economic Forum.
But Telugu, the fourth most spoken language in India, is still outside the top 20 of the most widely-spoken languages other than English in the US, reports the BBC.The video referred to a study by the US-based Centre for Immigration, which analysed census data to look at the pace at which languages were being spoken in America.
The study on languages spoken in the US used data from the American Community Survey and compared the number of people who said they spoke a language other than English at home in 2010 and 2017, the BBC said.Last year there were more than 400,000 Telugu speakers in the US – nearly double the number in 2010. Out of the top 10 fastest-growing languages in America, seven are from South Asia.
The rise of Telugu was connected to the links forged between Hyderabad and the US engineering and technology industries, Prasad Kunisetty, founder of the Telugu People Foundation, a non-profit organisation in the US, was quoted as saying.
The rapid growth of IT in the mid-1990s led to a huge demand for software engineers, he said. Many were recruited from Hyderabad, which sends students to the US in large numbers.Down the years, Telugu-speaking Americans have continued to hire software engineers from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, the BBC said.Notable US-based Telugu speakers include the first Indian-American Miss America Nina Davuluri and the current Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
Of the more than 60 million people that speak a language other than English out of the total population of about 320 million, the vast majority speak Spanish.Out of the most commonly spoken South Asian languages, Hindi is first, followed by Urdu, Gujarati and then Telugu.
Richa To Belly Dance For Shakeela Biopic
Actress Richa Chadha is working on her belly dancing skills for a special promotional song for a biopic on south Indian glamour actress Shakeela.
Richa plays the titular role in the movie, directed by Indrajit Lankesk. She is training under the guidance of Mumbai-based belly dancing instructor Shaina Lebana.
Richa has been taking lessons from Shaina on belly dance for the past three weeks and will be training for some more weeks.
“The song that I’m learning belly dancing for will be a part of the promotions of the film. I have always loved learning newer forms of dance. Belly dancing is not only very attractive and graceful but is also a very tough dance form to learn and adapt,” Richa said in a statement.
This is not the first time Richa has attempted the dance form. She used to take belly dance tutorials three years ago.
Pic: Rajamouli Begins Working on NTR’s Look
Top director S S Rajamouli has silently begun work for his next massive movie “RRR” featuring NTR and Ram Charan in the lead roles. He is completely immersed with the pre-production work and is interacting with all the technicians.
He has also designed special looks and getups for NTR and Ram Charan. Since NTR is now free of all his movie commitments, Rajamouli has begun working on the look of NTR and he is now interacting with NTR’s personal trainer Lloyd Stevens.
Lloyd Stevens trained NTR in achieving six-pack abs for “Aravindha Sametha” and he will now be changing NTR’s body as per Rajamouli’s vision. Buzz is that NTR will look like one of Aamir Khan’s recent getups in the film.
Lloyd Stevens tweeted, “Great to meet up with Legendary Director @ssrajamouli Sir to discuss @tarak9999 next look for @RRRMovie Movie … VERY excited about this one … watch this space.”“RRR” is to be made with whopping budget of Rs 300 cr with NTR and Ram Charan playing two vastly different characters.

Jagan Banking On Neither Pawan Nor Kapus
Frantic efforts are underway behind the scenes to eke out some sort of an alliance between YSRCP and the Jana Sena. But the final stumbling block can well prove to be YS Jagan Mohan Reddy himself.
Post-bifurcation, the Kapu community which is the largest in Andhra Pradesh now voted for the TDP thanks to the campaigning by Pawan Kalyan.
It resulted in the 2% vote-share difference between TDP/BJP combine and the YSRCP ultimately elevating Naidu to the post of CM.
One would have thought that given the debacle in 2014, YS Jagan would make all-out efforts to woo the Kapu community. The reality however seem to be completely different.
YS Jagan believes that the Kapus who voted for the TDP in 2014 will sail with Jana Sena now and as such, he does not feel the need to make any special overtures to them.
In fact, he had also ruled out providing reservation to them saying it did not come within the scope of the State government.
Meanwhile, the BCs who are vehemently opposed to reservations for Kapus are delighted with YS Jagan’s announcement and all set to back the YSRCP to the hilt.
The YSRCP drew a blank in the Godavari districts, the stronghold of the Kapus in 2014 and yet, YS Jagan is more than confident that anti-incumbency, the disastrous administration of the TDP and the BCs and other forward castes, notable the Brahmins, Vaishyas and Rajus who sailed with the TDP in 2014 and who are now firmly behind him, are enough to catapult him to the CM’s chair.
Will Jagan stand vindicated in his decision? We shall know in 2019.
Not A Word About Tarak: Balakrishna Disappoints Fans
Nandamuri fans were super excited to know that Balakrishna will be attending the success event of Aravindha Sametha as the Chief Guest. It has been a long time since Balakrishna and NTR shared the stage. Therefore, fans waited for this moment with lot of excitement.
Tarak fans wanted to listen about Tarak’s performance and rise as an actor in Balakrishna’s words. However, Balakrishna chose not speak about Jr. NTR at the success event. In fact he had mentioned Jr. NTR’s name only while talking about Thaman’s music.“Tarak and I usually do larger than life characters. It is not easy to score music for such films,” Balakrishna said.
He didn’t talk anything except that about NTR while he spoke at length about the technicians and even the heroine Pooja Hegde.Balakrishna said he couldn’t watch the film as he was busy with NTR biopic. Balakrishna talked a lot about late Harikrishna though.Despite knowing that fans would wait for him to talk about Jr. NTR, the Gautamiputra Satakarni actor didn’t mention about Young Tiger.
But Tarak has thanked Balakrishna for attending the event and said that he has come to this success celebration in his father’s place. It would have been nice if Balakrishna put his egos aside and made it a memorable event for Tarak and all Nandamuri fans.
