Kapil Sharma is a perfect example of someone who carved a unique niche for himself on the small screen, becoming the face of comedy entertainment in India. Having been at the top of the comedy game for years, Kapil initially became a household name through his TV shows. Now, his show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, streams exclusively on Netflix and continues to draw huge audiences.
Since its first season last year, the show has been incredibly successful. Normally, comedy shows on OTT take a year between seasons. However, because of the overwhelming response, Kapil and his team have already completed two seasons and wrapped up the third one as well, which is all set for release. And now, for the third season — which also consists of 13 episodes — Kapil is set to take home another ₹65 crores. While many top film actors demand ₹100 crore and spend years working on a project, Kapil has managed to earn almost double that amount simply by making people laugh — all in the span of a year.
Dil Raju Revives ICON Without Allu Arjun
Back in 2019, after the massive success of MCA with Nani, producer Dil Raju and director Venu Sriram revealed plans for ICON starring Allu Arjun. However, the project took a backseat when they shifted focus to Vakeel Saab, the Telugu remake of Pink featuring Pawan Kalyan.
Meanwhile, Allu Arjun delivered the blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, a career-defining hit that catapulted him to pan-India stardom. Shortly after, he committed to Pushpa, which later evolved into a two-part franchise.
Although Dil Raju and Venu Sriram hoped to revive ICON once Pushpa wrapped up, Allu Arjun’s ongoing commitment to the franchise meant that the makers had to look elsewhere. That’s when Thammudu with Nithiin took shape. Interestingly, Nani was also considered for the lead at one point before Nithiin was finalized.
With Thammudu now set for a grand release on July 4th and Allu Arjun busy working on Atlee’s upcoming film, Dil Raju recently confirmed that ICON is very much alive. However, Bunny will no longer play the lead role. He described the project as a powerful action drama laced with deep human emotions.
While Dil Raju is tight-lipped on who will take the lead, sources suggest he still plans a grand pan-India collaboration with Allu Arjun in the future — likely going on floors in 2026 with a potential release in 2027 or 2028.
This development mirrors a similar situation with a recently announced Lord Murugan-themed project from Trivikram, which was initially linked to Allu Arjun before Jr NTR eventually came on board.

India Rolls Out PSP 2.0 and e-Passports Nationwide
On the occasion of the 13th Passport Seva Divas, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar unveiled a series of transformative initiatives aimed at modernizing and enhancing India’s passport services. These include the nationwide rollout of the Passport Seva Programme (PSP) Version 2.0 and the implementation of e-Passports across the country.
In a post on X, Dr. Jaishankar hailed the efforts of passport authorities in India and abroad, crediting them for a “dramatic shift” in service delivery over the past decade. “Seva, Sushasan, and Garib Kalyan are the three pillars of governance guiding us toward a Viksit Bharat. These principles are clearly reflected in our Passport Seva Programme,” he stated.
Key highlights of the initiatives include:
PSP Version 2.0: Now fully deployed nationwide, it leverages advanced technology to improve efficiency and user experience in passport issuance.
e-Passports: Equipped with embedded contactless chips, these offer enhanced security and faster immigration clearance, and are now being introduced across India.
Global PSP V2.0: Pilot testing has begun at Indian embassies and consulates, with phased rollout planned.
mPassport Police App: This has significantly reduced police verification time to just 5–7 days in 25 states and union territories.
Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs): Ten new POPSKs were inaugurated in the past year, including the 450th centre in Kushinagar in April 2025.
Mobile Van Services: These have expanded passport access to remote and underserved regions.
Dr. Jaishankar noted the growth in passport issuance—from 91 lakh in 2014 to 1.46 crore in 2024—as a clear sign of enhanced access and efficiency. He emphasized that these reforms have empowered Indian workers and professionals to explore global opportunities, thereby strengthening India’s global workforce presence.
Concluding his remarks, he expressed gratitude to all personnel at Passport Offices (POs), Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs), POPSKs, and partner agencies for their commitment and service.
