Nagarjuna’s multistarrer with Nani ‘Devadas’ has finally hit the screens this morning. Nag plays a uber cool don in the movie. And very soon, he will turn a stylish lover boy for Manmadhudu’s sequel.

And we have some exclusive updates on Nagarjuna’s role in Manmadhudu 2. A source in the know has exclusively informed us that Nag will be playing a 45-year-old man in the movie. Apparently, Nag will be seen sporting gray hair with glasses, giving himself a class look.

Manmadhudu 2 will be directed by actor turned director Rahul Ravindran, who had impressed with his debut film ‘Chi La Sow’. Manmadhudu was a blockbuster when it released in 2003. The script work is underway for the sequel, and we will have to see if it can recreate the original’s magic.

After enticing with impressive motion posters and promos, the film’s makers have finally unveiled the official trailer of this year’s most-awaited film ‘Thugs of Hindostan’. The film’s Telugu trailer has been unveiled by SS Rajamouli. Touted to be a historical period film set in 1795 in British India, the epic action-adventure is based on Philip Meadows Taylor’s 1839 novel ‘Confessions of a Thug’.

What is it about?

British, who came to India for business sake, have settled with power. However, a band of thugs keep troubling them and throwing serious challenges. One such band of thugs is led by Amitabh Bachchan who is seen as the master Khudabaksh, fondly called as Azad. His trusted lieutenant is Fatima Sana Shaikh who plays Zafira. She is best at bow and arrow. And we see the villain of the piece, Englishman named John Clive.

Aamir is seen as Firangi Mallah, similar to that of Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow and Willy Wonka. Aamir makes a late entry in the trailer. He has been hired to take on Azad (Amitabh). Firangi takes sides and plays the game. Which side did he take at the end? Does he eliminate Azad (Amitabh)? The film revolves around freedom.

Performances

Amitabh looks menacing as Azaad. He is ferocious and fights hard. Aamir plays dishonest, untruthful man with two-timing. His role has negative shades and also has a comic angle. Fatima gets under the skin of Zafira. She has a serious role who is good with the bow and arrow.

Katrina Kaif has sizzled as Suraiyya. She looks stunning and scorches the screen. She brings the much-needed relaxation in this serious epic action adventure.

Analysis

Although the roles of Thugs of Hindostan appear to be similar to erstwhile historical epics, the ensemble cast like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan bring the much-needed attention to this film. The trailer reveals all the crucial roles in this action-adventure and also their motives. Writer-director Vijay Krishna Acharya however tries his best to maintain the emotion. This makes the Thugs of Hindostan an interesting watch.

The three-and-a-half minute trailer seems to be lengthy. Yet, it’s worth given the huge span and scale. Technicalities are good. VFX is good. Ajay-Atul’s music and backrgound score is impressive. Amitabh’s intense show works well in favour of the film. Overall, the trailer of the “Thugs of Hindostan” is engaging, enthralling.

For the promotion of the film, the actor was in town for the pre-release function and has given interviews to a very few media representatives. But the musician reportedly asked the media to avoid questions on why he chose to quit Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa, though he was part of it in the beginning. Rahman already clarified earlier that he could not do Sye Raa just because he has been busy with other commitments and repeated questions on Sye Raa must have irked him.

You have been collaborating with Mani Ratnam for years now. Tell us about your collaboration with him.

We both share a very good bond and it’s beyond words. I understand what he wants and he knows what I can compose. Usually, we go out on a short trip when we have to compose the tunes. I compose almost ten tunes and he listens to all of them, chooses one and we join the lyrics to it. Unlike other compositions, we first make the tunes and then add the lyrics to it.

We are waiting for your straight compositions in Telugu. When is it going to happen?

It takes a lot of factors for me to compose music for a film. I can’t make tunes for every random film. I need it to be unique to say yes to the project. I love Telugu language and I am still waiting for the right project to come in my way.

How is the music of Nawab?

Composing tunes for Nawab was of much different from other Mani Ratnam films. This time Mani looked with a lot of energy and may be becomes of the genre and the story. I make sure that he likes the tune first. So all the necessary changes are made much before the song gets the final tune.

Tamannaah Bhatia, who once used to devour fish, chicken and meat, has now turned vegetarian.She took the sudden decision owing to her 5-year-old pet dog Pebble’s ill health.Tamannaah said in a statement: “I am as big an animal lover as I am a foodie, so giving up the non-vegetarian lifestyle has always been very challenging. However, last month I made a conscious decision since Pebbles got really unwell and suffered a severe paralysis attack.

“He is not just a pet, but a family member and I’m very attached to him. Seeing him go through that discomfort, I vowed to give up something I loved so that he could recoup. It was a conscious sacrifice and I hope I had gone green years ago.”

The actress says it was hard to quit non-vegetarian food

“My upbringing was in a typical Sindhi meat-loving household and I won’t say that I don’t crave it, but it’s all about the will power. It is very important what you eat as that is what you are,” she said.

With this, Tamannaah joins Bollywood’s bandwagon of advocates for vegetarianism.

Telugu multi-starrer Devadas featuring Nagarjuna and Nani as the leads is clashing with Tamil multistarrer Nawaab directed by legendary Mani Ratnam.Being the straight film, Devadas obviously has more pull and mileage compared to dubbed film Nawaab.Unlike regular multi-starrers DevaDas is a fun film that highlights the bromance between Nagarjuna and Nani.

King is playing the role of an international mafia don who is not violent but fun loving. Nani plays a simple doctor who runs into a mafia don and struggles to get back to his regular life.Devadas is produced by veteran producer Ashwini Dutt who has recently tasted success with Mahanati.It is directed by young and talented director Sriram Aditya. Music scored by Manisharma is decent. A couple of songs from the album are slowly climbing the charts.

Nawaab is a serious drama where brothers are at war for owning their father’s mafia kingdom. Aravind Swamy, Simbu, Vijay Sethupathi, Jyothika, Prakash Raj, Aditi Rao are among the principal star cast.The trailers look promising and show glimpses of vintage Mani Ratnam.
