Geeta Govindam which released amidst expectations, managed to break even on day 1 and entered into profits range on day 2.And from the on-going collections, it is pretty obvious that the film will have very good collections during this weekend.For now, the trade is estimating that the film will cross Arjun Reddy collections by the end of this week.

Last week saw the release of Nithin-Dil Raju’s Srinivasa Kalyanam. The film was a disaster from the word go. While the team hoped to make Rs 30 crore from the film, it is doubtful if the film will make at least half of it.If GG got bad reviews then, there would have been damage control for Srinivasa Kalyanam. But with GG becoming a hit, there are no viewers for Nithin’s wedding saga.

On the other hand, Goodhachari has done good business since it’s release. If GG was postponed for a while, it would have taken home more profits. Still, the film is doing steady business even in centres. In all, it has entered the profit zone.

To wrap up, Geeta Govindam has surely surprised all by making all its money on day 1.

Nandamuri Bala Krishna is busy with his biopic on his father NTR and it is being helmed by director Krish.The movie is being timed for a release just prior to the 2019 elections. However, the gossip in the industry is that Krish has little freedom when it comes to choosing which contemporaries of NTR should feature in the film or for that matter, even the screenplay.

Apparently, Krish has been asked to strictly stick to Mahanati’s style of screenplay in which a song is shown, then an incident from Savitri garu’s life, then a situation with her husband followed by a movie shooting etc. This template will be reproduced exactly in NTR’s biopic.

For example, Mahanati starts off with the character of Savithri garu in a coma on a hospital bed and then various people giving their interpretations of her life. Similarly, NTR’s biopic will reportedly start off with Basavatharakam garu on a hospital bed in the last days of her earthly life, narrating the story of her husband.

If the fundamental script does not belong to the director and neither the screenplay, it will just make him a technician on location without scope for any major creativity.Mahanati was a work of passion and so was Gautamiputra Satakarni. But for the biopic on NTR, Krish might end up as a mere technician.

Hero Sudheer Babu is making selective choices off late and is coming up with decent films. This time he has opted to work with a new comer by name Puli Vasu.This combination of Sudheer with a debutant director is formally launched on Friday at Ramanaidu Studios.

Noted producer Dil Raju, director VV Vinayak and writer Paruchuri Gopala Krishna have graced the launch event as chief guests and did the honours.Happening beauty Mehreen is going to pair with Sudheer in the movie and it is their first combination. The supporting cast includes Rajendra Prasad, Naresh, Posani and Pragathi.

Thaman has been roped in to compose music and Rizwan Entertainment banner will produce this yet to be titled movie.

Actress Shraddha Kapoor, who visited the Madhya Pradesh town of Chanderi while filming for the movie “Stree”, says the vibe of the place was heart-warming as she felt that people in small towns don’t run after materialistic things.The film “Stree” revolves around a female ghost who exists in Chanderi town. To maintain the authenticity of the story, director Amar Kaushik took the cast and crew there.

On the experience, Shraddha told IANS: “I was so excited to go there in Chanderi, especially the fort area where I shot the film. Chanderi is a small town and the vibe of the place is so easy. Living in Mumbai, we are always running after deadlines and our life revolves around work.”

“People there (in Chanderi) are really simple and not in hurry. They really have a life after work. Maybe people of small town are not so wealthy, neither do they have the high materialistic desire, but I think they really know how to find happiness from small things that we urban people do not even notice,” she added with a smile.

In Chanderi, which is known for its saris, Shraddha went on a shopping spree.

“After our shooting got over, I went out for shopping and bought so many chanderi saris for my family members. I do not wear a lot of saris, but I bought some for myself as well. We all know how famous Chanderi saris are, and they are really beautiful,” she said.

“Stree” also features Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi. It is releasing on August 31.

Allu Arjun recently heard the narration of a political thriller but he reportedly didn’t give his nod to it.Titled “Sabhaku Namaskaram”, the political subject was originally planned for Nani but Dil Raju sent the new writer to Allu Arjun as he is struggling to get a project on the sets.

Allu Arjun is said to have turned down the script saying it doesn’t suit him well. The story is back to where it belongs to Dil Raju’s camp. Will he make it now with the original choice Dil Raju?

The original plan is to splurge on the film and to shot lavishly like all Bellamkonda Sreenivas films. However, Saakshyam result is now forcing producers to rethink on the film’s budget. Due to cost failure, Saakshyam incurred great losses to Eros and other partners.

Considering that the makers of Teja and Bellamkonda film are rethinking on budget aspects. But the hero may still push for more budget. Right from Alludu Seenu to Speedunnodu to Jaya Janaki Nayaka to Saakshyam, Bellamkonda’s films were expensive.
