What Sridevi Worried About Janhvi!

Share

There are those who are feeling super happy with the entry of Sridevi’s daughter Jhanvi Kapoor into films. Already she has wrapped up the shooting of “Sairat” remake “Dhadak”, and the film will be released anytime soon.

Recently Jhanvi spoke with a media house to reveal that she’s happy that her mother Sridevi has seen the rushes of her debut film. Jhanvi said that Sridevi felt very happy but she was actually worried about her daughter’s badly set eyebrow and also the way she enacted in certain scenes. Sridevi advised Jhanvi to focus more on acting. Also Jhanvi revealed that Sri always loved her daughters to marry and settle down rather coming into films. “Mom felt that I’m not thick skinned to become an actress but she felt that Kushi will do well in films” said Jhanvi.

All these words are not going well with some fans of the late actress. They feel that if Sridevi’s kids speak about their mother this way, then everyone believes that the iconic lady never loved her kids to come into film industry. Some felt that if Jhanvi’s mom doesn’t wanted her to come into acting, why would she allow her to debut on silver screen anyway?

Anyway, Sridevi is Jhanvi’s mom and she has all the rights to talk about her mother. And if anyone is feeling wrong for that, it’s their problem.

Nannapaneni under fire for men’s commission!

Share

Senior Telugu Desam Party leader and Andhra Pradesh Mahila Commission chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari has come under fire for her foot-in-the-mouth comments she had made a couple of days ago.Rajakumari put forth a strange demand before the AP government that there was a need to set up a separate commission to prevent atrocities on men by women.

She suggested that the government set up a “Purusha Commission” (commission for men) on the lines of Mahila Commission, in the wake of recent incidents of killing of men by their wives to cover up their illicit sexual relations with other men in different parts of Telugu states – Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.“Men also need to be provided protection from women since there have been several cases in the recent past of women cheating men,” she said.

Though Rajakumari’s suggestion is unique, she drew a lot of flak from several women’s groups including All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), Progressive Organisation for Women (POW) etc.Their representatives lashed out at Rajakumari for taking up the cause of men and deriding women, taking into consideration a few sporadic incidents.

“Every day, we have been coming across several incidents of men torturing, raping and killing women and even minor girls. Instead of raising her voice against such incidents, it is shameful on the part of Nannapaneni to demand a men’s commission, just because there were a few incidents here and there of women cheating men,” they alleged. They demanded that Nannapaneni should immediately resign from her post for her alleged comments against women and her support to men.

Why wasting money on Nava Nirmana Deeksha?

Share

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s call to the people of the state to take up “Nava Nirmana Deeksha” from June 2 to 8, is drawing flak from various sections of people. Not that there is something wrong in the Deeksha – it is basically aimed at boosting the spirit of the people of the state who are still facing the bifurcation blues.

During the deeksha, Naidu is asking the people to take a pledge to rededicate themselves for rebuilding of the truncated state. So far so good. But what is annoying is the way Naidu wants to turn into them into a big show put-up.He is learnt to have allocated Rs 1 crore to each district for organising meetings, mobilising people at one place and making them take a pledge.“It is a sheer waste of money at a time when the state is facing severe financial crunch,” a senior journalist in Amaravati said.

Secondly, there is no need for Naidu to make it a week-long affair.

“First of all, it should be voluntary and not an official function. Secondly, it is enough if they take the pledge for one day and there is no need to take the pledge all through the week.Thirdly, it is enough if Naidu gives an appeal through media or even a live television message asking the people to rededicate themselves for the development of the state. There is no need to organise functions in a big way in all the districts throughout the week,” he said.He said the people had already taken the pledge on the first year of Andhra Pradesh formation and there is no need to organise it every year.

“It is nothing but gross misuse of power and wastage of public funds,” the journalist observed.

Will Balayya Let Krish Direct?

Share

There is a belief in the industry that Balakrishna goes by whatever the director says and let’s him have the final word.
Despite this, he is planning to direct his dad NTR’s biopic. Towards this end, he has decided to co-produce the film with other producers.

In fact, this is said to be the reason behind Teja walking out of Balayya’s film. Since Balakrishna was not willing to give freedom to Teja, he is said to have quit the film as each director has his vision, following which Balakrishna thought of handing over direction to another director.

Since he worked with Krish during the making of Gautamiputra Satakarni, he handed over the project to him.Incidentally, Krish happens to be an independent director and he even produces his own films. However, will Krish be able to take on the project independently and will Balayya go with him?

Officer Movie Review

Share

Nagarjuna and RGV teaming up after twenty five years has grabbed eyeballs initially. But RGV successfully killed the excitement around the film with bizarrely cut trailers and teasers. However, a few optimistic fans still had hopes that Officer would offer something special from the Shiva duo. Officer turned out to be as bizarre as its promos with weird camera angles and absolutely pointless story and screenplay.

Story :

Shivaji Rao (Nagarjuna) is appointed as the special officer to investigate allegations against Mumbai Police officer Pasari. Soon Shivaji realizes that Pasari is not a person but an entire system who is running mafia in Mumbai. Pasari tries to outsmart Shivaji and the tug of war begins.

Performances:

Nagarjuna’s age defying looks will leave us mesmerized. He had put in a lot of hard work to look fit and perfect as a tough cop. He tried his best to make Officer an engaging fare, but he has been left helpless with an incoherent script. The actor who played Pasari is expressionless and a total miscast. Ajay and Sayaji Shinde made their presence felt. The child actor who played Nag’s daughter is cute and expressive.

Technicalities:

Ram Gopal Varma did everything that he has been doing lately. There is little focus on story in spite of having a saleable star like Nagarjuna as the lead. A decent script would have made Officer a watchable fare, but RGV refuses to put some thought into writing. All he does is place the camera in the weirdest possible angles and have fun. His ardent fans might have hoped some sort of a comeback from the genius filmmaker, but RGV misuses a great opportunity given by Nagarjuna.

The film has very low production values that it looks like a rookie’s work in most of the frames. RGV’s films used to have great technical values, but Officer is no better than any of his recent works in terms of technicalities. Music is loud, confusing and out of sync most of the times. Cinematography is bad. Everything about the film is very bad that we just pity the actors for being part of such a dismal film with unforgivably low production values.

Thumbs Up:

  • Nagarjuna’s look

Thumbs Down:

  • Script
  • Direction
  • Cinematography
  • Music

Analysis:

Officer might not have generated curiosity or raised expectations if Nagarjuna isn’t a part of it. Nagarjuna teaming up with his ‘Shiva’ director after twenty five years has made headlines. With Nag on board, one would expect the film to be a watchable one in spite of being aware of RGV’s recent track record. However, like Sarkar 3 with Big B, Officer also turns out to be another dud from the director of masterful classics like Shiva, Company and Satya.

RGV yet again sticks to his template of cops and mafia. This time he explores the bad in the police department itself. It must have sounded like a nice idea on paper, but like always RGV just goes to the sets with a single line story. There is no thought put into the script that it turns out to be a pointless film with disjointed screenplay. Vintage RGV would have done wonders with the same line, but the current RGV just focuses upon weird camera angles and ‘new sound’.

First half is bearable to an extent, but the second half tests the patience of viewers with nonstop action scenes with people shooting guns all the time. None of the twists and turns makes sense. All the actors including Nagarjuna appear clueless after a point. There is a thread of father and daughter to give an emotional touch to this action film. But those scenes are heavily dramatic and make the film even boring. Climax fight between hero and villain goes on and on and comes to an abrupt end as if they had run out of funds all of a sudden.

Ram Gopal Varma’s films used to be thoroughly entertaining with novel themes, entertaining characters, thrilling elements and technical finesse. He has lost it completely that he is unable to undo some of his recent traits in spite of getting a nod from frontline actor to play the lead. Officer will go down as another dud from RGV who desperately needs a break. It is better to watch his old films to admire his brilliance than watching duds like Officer and lose respect for him. This is a film that will not please you a bit even after going with zero expectations.

Verdict: Nonsensical!
