Mahanati, A Remarkable Feat After Arundathi

Share

For two reasons, we don’t see much female centric films in Telugu film industry. One is that drawing audiences will be tougher due to lack of a hero, and other one is that heroines who do such films lost their careers. But on two occasions, all the beliefs are busted.

We have the likes of Vijayasanthi and Soundarya rocking with female centric movies in the 90s and they became superstars in that dominion. But later on, many heroines who have acted in female centric films including Bhumika (Missamma), Laya (Manoharam), Charmi (Anukokunda Oka Roju), Genelia (Katha) to Anjali (Geethanjali), Priyamani (Charulatha) and Trisha (Nayaki) have sparkled only for a while. Only Nayanatara is cashing on that superstardom among all of her contemporaries. Here are the two exceptions, however.

Way back in 2009, when Arundathi was under production, many felt that producers are doing a big mistake. But Anushka Shetty’s wonderful performance as Jejemma under Kodi Ramakrishna’s direction did miracles at the box office. And after nearly a decade, now in 2018, Keerthi Suresh is repeating a similar feat with “Mahanati”. The film is heading to become a colossal hit despite the fact that Keerthi is not even a star heroine at the moment. Though there is Rudramadevi in between, the success of the film is not such magnanimous we have to say.

We have to say that people liked the content of these two films, Arundathi and Mahanati, to the maximum, as they got carried away by various factors (horror then, emotion now) they portrayed. And then, all the credit goes to directors and their other technical crew. Surprisingly both these films have a fair share of VFX that did magic on silver screen.

B’Day: NTR’s Lavish Party Tonight

Share

NTR is throwing a lavish party to media persons on his birthday. He is giving it in a posh pub in Jubilee Hills. Tarak is personally going to attend and interact with the media persons one-to-one.

However, it is not first time NTR is treating media. Last year too he had thrown birthday party to scribes.

NTR, who had maintained a low profile with media until 2016, has broken the norm during the release of his film Nannaku Prematho where he had treated journos and became media friendly before the film’s release. Since then Tarak has been continuing the tradition of treating media on occasions such as his birthdays or any special occasion.

Meanwhile, NTR’s first look from Trivikram Srinivas’ Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava is out yesterday which has got good reception from all sections. The film, said to be a blend of class and mass with Trivikram mark magical touch, is likely to hit the screens in October.

Rajendraprasad’s Grand Daughter As Mahanati

Share

Mahanati has become a drawing room discussion in many houses. Many interesting facts are being discussed about the film and its characters.

Well, the girl who played as child Savitri in first half of the film is none other than actor Rajendra Prasad’s grand daughter. This was revealed in a TV interview in the presence of Rajendra Prasad himself who played the role of paternal uncle to her in the film.

When asked the girl how she got into the film she said, “Nag Ashwin uncle and Swapna aunty used to come to our house to meet my grand pa. I frightened them once with my pet dog. They liked me and asked my grand pa if I can be taken into the film. Grand Pa said ok and I played the role”.

Saying about her first experience before camera, “I have no fear to act. Because, I learnt some nuances of acting from my grand pa who regularly acts some scenes and tells dialogues from his films”.

What Will Somu Veerraju Do Now?

Share

Even before the full mandate of Karnataka is out on May 15th and counting was still under way, BJP leaders in AP and Telangana have made very tall statements that this would be a set back to Chandrababu Naidu, the former ally of BJP.

In fact, Ram Madhav went ahead and stated that Chandrababu had tried all sorts of methods to stop BJP in Karnataka but he couldn’t.

GVL Narasimha Rao too made over-the-top comments and subsequently faced the ire of Telugu people as well.

If one takes the case of Somu Veerraju, it is much more weirder. A day before Karnataka result is out, i.e when BJP had announced Kanna Lakshminarayana as the AP BJP unit’s new chief, upset Somu Veerraju had gone into oblivion.

Somu Veerraju had gone missing while his hard-core followers resigned from the major posts such as district president and vice president posts. Many of his aides raised serious objection against former Congress minister Kanna being made as the BJP chief. In fact, at one stage, speculations had it that Somu Veerraju even planning to quit BJP against elevation of Kanna.

But all these objections of Somu Veerraju had just gone with the wind when the initial trends of Karnataka counting indicated a strong mandate towards BJP. Hurried Somu Veerraju had come out and denied all those reports. He had made it clear that he had no such intentions to quit party and all that propaganda was done by his detractors. He even clarified that the resignations of his close followers to party posts as their “personal” issue and it is nothing to do with him.

In his own way, Somu Veerraju had lashed out at Chandrababu saying that Karnataka verdict is a lesson to Naidu. He claimed that BJP will soon come to power in AP with the support of local parties (YSR Congress and Janasena).

Now that BJP suffered big defeat in Karnataka as its CM candidate Yeddyurappa admitted his failure to get numbers and resigned to his post much before facing the Floor Test, and Kumaraswamy of JD(S) who has the full support of Chandrababu is becoming the new CM of Karnataka, many are wondering what will Somu Veerraju would say.

As this is a  first big blow to BJP in South, will he also admit that the same would be repeated in AP and Telangana too? What will be the position of Somu Veerraju who returned to BJP witnessing its victory in Karnataka. As BJP lost Karnataka, will Somu Veerraju again go back to his “upset” mode. A lot of questions need answers from Somu Veerraju. Needless to say that he would certainly avoid them.

Tamil Nadu, Telangana Beat Andhra in Corruption!

Share

Neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Telangana have taken over the Andhra Pradesh in corruption, say reports.

According to a survery result released by the Centre for Media Studies on corruption in 13 states in India, Tamil Nadu has been ranked No. 1 shocking many. Newly-formed Telangana has followed Tamil Nadu taking many by surprise. This is after KCR and KTR’s repeated statements that they’re bringing transparency in governance in the new state. Surprisingly, as per the CMS, the corruption in Tamil Nadu and Telangana is more than Bihar. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh has been placed at No. 4 in corruption in the survey.

The ‘India Corruption Study’ conducted by the Centre For Media Studies covered more than 2,000 households from over 200 rural and urban clusters of 13 states — Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Karantaka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Bengal.

The report covered 11 public services – public distribution system (PDS), electricity, health, school education, water supply , banking services, police, judicial services, land/housing and transport and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS, only rural).

The survey stated that 75 per cent households across 13 states feel that the level of corruption has increased or remained the same during the last one year, while 27 per cent confessed to paying a bribe to avail public services in the last one year.

Shockingly, the survey said people had to pay a bribe even for getting basic identification documents as seven per cent paid a bribe to get an Aadhaar card and three per cent to get a voter ID card, the report said.

Ex YCP Leader Gets Key Post in Pawan’s Janasena

Share

The former YCP leader and close aide of YS Jagan has got a key post in Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena. Thota Chandrasekhar Rao, who also played active role in Joint Facts Finding Committee constituted by Pawan Kalyan and took the side of Jagan and against TDP, has been made Janasena Party’s general secretary.

Announcing the decision, Pawan said he senior leader and former IAS Chandrasekhar Rao would assist the party and he would be made swear-in for the post once the Janasena party office in Amaravati gets ready.

Pawan claimed that Thota Chandrasekhar, who had contested for Eluru MP seat from YSRCP in 2014, had lost in the elections due to his campaign for TDP-BJP combine. He said Chandrasekhar hasn’t kept this in mind and still came forward to join in his party with an open and broad mind.

However, Chandrasekhar’s joining into Janasena party has drew mixed reactions from all over. His cross over from YSR Congress to JFC and JFC to Janasena is seen as a conspiracy by Jagan by many analysts. Well, one has to wait and see. Only time will tell.

Charan’s Fans Celebrate NTR’s Birthday

Earlier this month, Ram Charan and his wife Upasana celebrated NTR and Lakshmi Pranathi’s 7th wedding anniversary along with the Nandamuri couple’s doting little son Abhay Ram. Now, Ram Charan’s fans are celebrating NTR’s 35th birthday in a grand manner.

Today, a large number of Ram Charan’s fans from Vijayawada will be celebrating Tarak’s birthday by cutting the cake and distributing free buttermilk. In Hyderabad, Charan’s fans are organizing a lavish party for the media personnel at the posh Playboy Beer Garden pub today evening (May 20).

Apart from the above two events, more number of Charan’s fans will be celebrating the Young Tiger’s birthday across the 2 states tomorrow. It’s well known that both Charan and NTR are going to act in Rajamouli’s multi-starrer ‘RRR’ later this year.

Both Charan and NTR share an envious camaraderie and even their fans have started to follow them. Needless to say, this has set a positive trend, and we can only wish that this deep bond of friendship between both the heroes and their fans will last forever.

K’taka: Prakash Raj Wins, Pawan Kalyan Fails!

Share

The Karnataka result is indeed a set back to many bhakts of Modi including AP opposition leaders YS Jagan and Janasena’s Pawan Kalyan who have been indirectly dancing to the tunes of Modi.

While Jagan’s close aides such as Vijay Sai Reddy were said to be spotted in Karnataka in support of BJP, Jagan’s long-term association with Gali brothers and Pawan Kalyan’s statement on Karnataka after Yeddyurappa sworn in as the CM all clearly indicated how Jagan and Pawan have been supporting BJP in Karnataka.

But dampening all their hopes, the final result of Karnataka has come as a huge shocker to Jagan and PK.

Interestingly, Prakash Raj, who campaigned vigorously against the BJP in Karnataka Assembly elections, has been smiling and is said be laughing over his word becoming true in K’taka. He even stated that the era of BJP has ended and it will slowly lose one state after the other and eventually face a huge defeat in 2019 polls.

5 Reasons for BJP’s Failure in Karnataka

Share

None other than Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have gone all out to save BJP government in Karnataka. But nothing has worked in party’s favour. Despite Governor Vajubhai Vala’s “complete cooperation” to Yeddyurappa and BJP, the Saffron party has failed to use to its advantage. Below are the five reasons that played spoilsport in ending BJP’s southern drought.

Proactive Measures of Congress

For the first time ever, Congress has acted in time. Even before the complete results are out, it started negotiations with JD(S). In order to stop Modi juggernaut in South, Congress decided to offer unconditional support to Kumaraswamy and offered him the CM post. This has worked brilliantly. The proactive measures of Congress has played vital role in this entire episode of Kar’Nataka’.

After tasting bad experience in Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya, the timely action by Congress in dealing with JD(S) is a significant step. Priyanka Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi conceived the plan well, their team members Abhishek Singhvi, Kapil Sibal, Azad all executed the plan perfectly giving no scope for the BJP.

Supreme Court’s Verdict on Floor Test

The twist in the entire tale is Congress knocking the doors of the Supreme Court at midnight. The SC bench convened in the wee hours and heard the petition filed by the Congress and JD(S) combine. Though the SC didn’t stop the swearing-in ceremony of Yeddyurappa, it has given a major blow to him by ordering to go for the Floor Test in 24 hours. This is indeed a landmark verdict and a major twist that changed the entire course of ‘Game of Thrones’ in Karnataka.

Lack of Trust on Gali’s Words

Initially, a few MLAs of Congress and JD(S) were reportedly inclined towards Yeddyurappa-led BJP. In fact, after Yeddyurappa’s swearing-in and 15 days of time to prove majority, a few MLAs in Congress and JD(S) had lost hope and thought that Yeddyurappa would prove his numbers and even thought of switching to his side. But lack of trust on Gali’s words and tightening of Congress and JD(S) leadership on its MLAs, in addition to SC’s landmark verdict together hindered all the efforts by Gali brothers and his close aides such as Sreeramulu.

Leaks of Audio Tapes Offering Bribe to Congress and JD(S) MLAs

The leak of audio tapes of BJP leaders trying to lure the MLAs of Congress and JD(S) which came out in the open and wide in the media has feared the national leaders of BJP that it would damage the party’s image. Fearing further damage if they go ahead for the Trust Vote and is defeated in the hands of Congress and JD(U), national BJP leaders advised Yeddyurappa to resign before the Floor Test as a last effort to save the party’s declining image.

Deve Gowda’s Emotional Appeal To Party Leaders

JD(S) Patriarch Deve Gowda said to have made an emotional appeal to all his party MLAs requesting that this would be his last election and would like to see his son Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister. Deve Gowda’s emotional request said to have moved JD(S) MLAs who decided not to switch over to BJP even when huge offers came in from the Saffron leaders.

NTR Is Sexier Than Sex Ever Looked

Share

Finally, Jr NTR also joined that gang of heroes who have flaunted chiselled six pack abs for films and posters. He has surely become the poster boy for many fans with Trivikram’s “Aravinda Sametha” first look. And there comes maverick director Ram Gopal Varma putting up his best for the star hero.

“Wowwww Tarak is looking sexier than sex ever looked and more sexier than sex never ever looked” is what Ram Gopal Varma has to say, about Jr NTR’s chiselled look. And NTR’s fans are rejoicing in the comments thanking Varma for the sexiest comment on the First Look poster.

Definitely, we have to admit to the fact that NTR’s terrific transformation under the guidance of Lloyd Stevens is proving its worth. The way he lost oodles of weight and turned fit to fantabulous for this Trivikram directorial is amazing. Even many celebrities are also wondered with the way NTR carved a new Tarak out of himself.

Guess what, NTR will be going to more intense work out once he wraps Trivikram’s movie. Becuase he wants to give a killer look for #RRR where he’s uniting with Ram Charan and Rajamouli to create a marvel of sorts.

What A Terrific Saturday Afternoon For All

Share

Earlier only some programs on TV and some films used to give excitement to audiences. But now, entertainment is ranging from live comedy shows to political stints that are happening for real in legislative assemblies. And from twitter trolls to social media posts, everything is making people enjoy their time.

People who love to observe politics from a closer view got glued to TVs and social media to check what will happen in Karnataka on Saturday evening. Though almost all the possible theories/endings are floated by journalists and analysts, finally Yeddy gave the big twist to everything.

While some people enjoyed that, some are busy catching up with news related to Royal Wedding in the UK where our star heroine Priyanka Chopra is also invited as the guest by new Princess Meghan Markle. UK’s Prince Harry married longtime girlfriend, actress Meghan, and as priests declared them man and wife at St George’s Chapel, social media went abuzz with their pictures and all.

For Telugu audiences, while the arrival of Deadpool 2 in theatres is a stand-in entertainment for children, other cinema lovers enjoyed the first look of Jr NTR and Trivikram’s movie Aravinda Sametha. Especially Tarak’s chiselled look has stunned Telugu audiences and they praised hero’s efforts.

Cut to IPL, we have Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) knocked out of the tournament as Rajasthan Royals beat them by 30 runs on Saturday afternoon. Punjab and Delhi are already out of the playoffs.

On a whole, this Saturday afternoon to evening has turned pretty interesting for most of the Indians.
