Veteran Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad has issued a heartfelt apology for a comment he made about former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and legendary actor M G Ramachandran (MGR), describing it as inadvertent.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Rajendra Prasad apologized in Tamil, saying, “I am Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad. At a function in our place, I was honored with an award named after veteran actor Kanta Rao. While speaking in a lighthearted manner about the God of Tamil cinema, MGR sir, a word accidentally slipped out.”

He emphasized that the comment was unintentional and reiterated his deep respect for MGR. “How can I ever speak about him in a disrespectful way? When I studied at the Madras Film Institute, he was the Chief Minister and would visit to check on our acting progress. I am nobody to speak about him in such a manner. However, if my words hurt anyone, I sincerely ask for forgiveness. I assure you that I will never speak like this again. Please forgive my mistake and let this issue rest,” he added.

Rajendra Prasad’s apology follows appeals from several Tamil film personalities, including South Indian Artistes’ Association President Nasser and actor Vishal, urging him to clarify and apologize for his remarks during his speech in Hyderabad.

Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday criticized the coalition government, saying the latest CAG report has exposed its lack of financial discipline.

He pointed out that the report confirmed what YSRCP has been consistently alleging: the coalition government took loans totaling Rs 3.2 lakh crore in just two years, nearly matching the borrowings of Rs 3.31 lakh crore during YSRCP’s entire five-year term. Jagan questioned the purpose of such massive borrowings, highlighting that key promises under the Super Six agenda remain unimplemented and state revenues have fallen, indicating widespread corruption in areas ranging from sand, land, mines, and liquor. He warned that escalating borrowings and fiscal deficits are attracting growing interest obligations, with no clear explanation from the ruling coalition.

Addressing a press conference, Jagan lambasted the coalition government for dodging accountability during the recently concluded 16-day Assembly session. He accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of politicizing the Tirupati issue, even though evidence points toward his administration. Jagan alleged that the budget session was misused to spread propaganda, level false accusations against the Opposition, and glorify coalition partners, while serious questions raised by the YSRCP went unanswered.

He further criticized Chandrababu for mismanagement of temples, citing tragedies like the Tirupati stampede and the recent Kadiri incident, and raised concerns about ghee adulteration. Jagan accused the coalition government of corruption in tenders, ghee supply, and accepting rejected tankers. He claimed the price of ghee was silently hiked from Rs 351 to Rs 761 per kg to benefit select individuals, while baselessly blaming the YSRCP for malpractices.

On women’s safety, Jagan dismissed Chandrababu’s claims made during the International Women’s Day event as “sham,” citing cases of atrocities committed by TDP–Jana Sena MLAs in places like Railway Koduru, Amudalavalasa, Guntur East, and Sativedu. He alleged that complaints against a minister’s PA went unaddressed, while the TTD chairman remained unaffected despite explicit evidence circulating publicly.

Jagan contrasted the coalition government’s record with YSRCP’s tenure, stating that women’s empowerment was tangible through reservations, small business facilitation, bank loans, and partnerships with multinationals. He also emphasized that farmers suffered under the coalition due to the absence of MSP and crop insurance, while YSRCP had fulfilled these promises via RBKs. Public welfare concerns like contaminated water, unsafe milk, and unhygienic hostel conditions affecting students were also highlighted as failures of the current administration.

After taking a short break, Chiranjeevi is all set to commence shooting for his next film with director Bobby Kolli, with the project expected to go on floors very soon. According to sources, “The shoot is likely to begin towards the last week of March, and it will be a lengthy schedule. The script and pre-production work have come together well. Once Chiranjeevi approved the final draft of the script, the project gained momentum.”

The film, described as an action-adventure entertainer, will feature music by S Thaman, who has been roped in to deliver both chartbuster songs and a gripping background score. Initially, A R Rahman was considered for the project, but the makers finalized Thaman for the soundtrack.

There have been rumors about leading production house KVN Productions, which is currently backing Jana Nayagan and reportedly facing some financial issues, possibly stepping away from the film. However, sources clarified, “KVN Productions is a big banner and continues to produce the Chiranjeevi–Bobby Kolli action-adventure film.
