Not surprisingly, like top-rung political leaders who are trying to define their manifestoes for upcoming elections, those from film industry too are coming out to make their stand clear on their political thoughts. In neighbouring state Tamil Nadu, the likes of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have spelled out their political agendas. In Telugu-speaking states, powerstar Pawan Kalyan has made his entry complete. So that leaves the next order to define their political leanings. Slowly and steadily people from Telugu film industry are trying to make their voices heard during the run-up to 2019.
One such person is yesteryears hero and present time character actor Suman.Though there have been reports of he being interested in politics, till now, he hasn’t made any concrete moves. But now, he has said that he will be joining TRS, if Telangana CM KCR gives him an opportunity. However, he hasn’t mentioned if he will work for the party and campaign during the forthcoming elections or if he will actually contest in 2019.
But Suman says he is willing to join TRS if he gets a call from KCR and he has added that it is up to the party chief to use his services as per party requirements. He also added that he will be forever indebted to CM KCR for working for the betterment of Telugu people at large and Telangana people in particular.

Pawan Kalyan Will Do Films, But…
That Pawan Kalyan is a full-time politician or evolving into one is for all to see. Though he hasn’t categorically said that he has retired from films, he has been mentioning time and again, that he will not be acting too often from henceforth.
However, since films are his primary income source, many are wondering how he will sustain himself if he quits films.Apparently, Pawan too has no plans of quitting the film industry. But yes, he has been considering taking on a new role as a producer.Talk from within industry is that he is planning to become a full-time producer starting next year. If things go as planned, he will be making films with like-minded people very soon. Apart from small films, Pawan is also making plans to produce some big budget films.
But the film that he wanted to produce with his nephew Charan is still on hold. Though Charan has maintained that he is ready to start the film whenever his uncle tells him, work hasn’t started on the film yet. While there are doubts about his acting in future, Pawan Kalyan will surely be making films through ‘Pawan Kalyan Creative Works’. But all work will begin once the elections are over.
Till then, Pawan Kalyan is giving his all to his political role.
Veerraju to quit MLC; What about Prabhu?
Now that the Telugu Desam Party has come out of the National Democratic Alliance completely, the Bharatiya Janata Party is too cutting off all its links with the TDP one after the other. While the TDP pulled out two of its ministers – P Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Y S Chowdary from the Central cabinet, the BJP too asked its two ministers – P Manikyala Rao and Kamineni Srinivas – also to resign from the Chandrababu Naidu cabinet.
Subsequently, senior BJP leader R Lakshmipati also resigned from the post of chairman of the AP Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation, on the ground that it was not ethical on his part to continue in the post after the TDP severed its links with the NDA.The BJP leaders, who have got some nominated posts in temple committees and market committees, are also planning to quit their posts.
Latest information is that firebrand BJP leader Somu Veerrraju is also planning to resign from his MLC post on moral grounds.Veerraju got elected to the legislative council under MLAs’ quota in 2015. Since the BJP has only four MLAs in the Andhra assembly, all the others who voted for him were the TDP MLAs.“Since he got elected by the TDP MLAs, he feels it is not proper to remain indebted to them even after both the parties parted ways. So, he wants to quit the MLC post,” party sources said.
If that is the case, even Union minister for commerce and industry Suresh Prabhu is morally indebted to the TDP. He got elected to Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh with the support of the TDP MLAs, as part of the coalition dharma.“If Veerraju wants to quit the MLC seat, then the BJP should ask even Suresh Prabhu to quit the MP seat,” a TDP leader demanded.
Needi Naadi Oke Katha Movie Review
Needi Naadi Oke Katha has generated good buzz among film enthusiasts with hard-hitting promos and songs. The film is about an under achiever who couldn’t excel in studies and live up to his father’s expectations.
Story :
Sagar (Sri Vishnu) is the son of Rudraraju Devi Prasad, a lecturer (Devi Prasad). Sagar couldn’t complete his graduation as he cannot clear his backlogs despite many attempts. One fine day he realizes that he is not cut for it and says the same to his father. His father throws him out of the house. How Sagar leads his life in spite of having no proper education? Is education so important to lead a happy life?
Performances:
Sri Vishnu is evolving as an actor. He is a natural actor who doesn’t try too hard to impress. His flexible body language and boy-next-door looks helps him to get into the skin of the character. It never feels like he is acting at any moment. He simply lives the character and that is a commendable talent. Satna Titus is an average looking woman. She did alright as the female lead. Devi Prasad is good in father’s role. He is very believable as an inflexible father. The actor who played Vishnu’s sister is also good. Posani Krishna Murali appears as a personality development coach. Nara Rohit appears in a blink and miss cameo.
Technicalities:
Venu Udugula made an honest attempt with NNOK. He wants to give a strong message to the society. His way of presenting the film in a raw manner (in Dogme 95 style) is impressive. He has deep understanding of human emotions and he had successfully brought them on screen. He also excels as a dialog writer. He is able to generate good humor in a serious subject. He’s definitely a talent to watch out for.
Music is a bit over the top. There are far too many songs in the film which is absolutely not needed. Background score is jarring at times. Editing is neat. Cinematography keeps the film grounded with natural lighting and without flashy camera work.
Thumbs Up:
- Sri Vishnu’s performance
- Concept
- Emotions
Thumbs Down:
- Too much melodrama
- Slow paced
Analysis:
Needi Naadi Oke Katha is about a person who cannot excel in studies. Many youngsters can identify themselves in the protagonist. The conflict between father and son is universal and has been explored many times on screen. Director Venu Udugula takes a non-cinematic approach and deals the conflict in a realistic way. We have seen many films where the protagonist has a special talent and is opposed by his father. NNOK is about a youth who doesn’t have any goal or talent. He reminds us of the protagonist from 7/G Brindavan Colony.
While 7/G is a romantic tale, NNOK deals with the conflict between father and son. Father wants his son to finish studies and settle down in a decent job. But the son gives up on education and decides to take up some job that doesn’t need any qualification. Initial scenes focused the character establishment of Sagar are very entertaining. Sri Vishnu makes it enjoyable with his delightful Nellore accent. However, it gets preachy once the heroine enters the scene. Sagar taking personality development classes and trying to focus on studies gets monotonous.
There is a sudden turn of events when Sagar gives up on his efforts to clear the exams. The female lead also has an unexplained sudden crush on Sagar which brings sudden changes in her character. This part is unconvincing and it gets boring with Ooty episode. It only gets back on track in the third act where the protagonist confronts his father and expresses his inner feelings. Drama thickens as protagonist tries to explain his father that education is not needed to lead a happy life. However, these scenes are not done in a convincing way and look outright dramatic.
Climax is predictable, but the emotional impact and Sri Vishnu’s performance makes it worth watching. It will surely make everyone think. The film raises right questions about the way we live. It says that it is not important to live for the sake of society. It guides parents in the right way. It talks about dignity of labor and importance of money. All in all, NNOK is an important film that should be seen by the youth and parents. Downside it is a preachy and heavy film that may not appeal to the majority of audience. It may not be successful on the commercial front, but will be lauded as a well-intentioned, honest film.
Verdict: One of us!
Chay To Romance Sam, Venky With Nayan
It’s already known that the Daggubati Mama-Alludu Venkatesh and Naga Chaitanya will be acting in a multi-starrer very soon. This film, said to be wholesome family entertainer, will be directed by Bobby and the shooting will kickstart in August.
As per a source in the know, both Venky and Chay will be romancing their favorite onscreen heroines in the movie. Apparently, Venkatesh will be romancing Nayanthara and Chay will be sharing screen space with his wife and star heroine Samantha for the fifth time.
Already, fans of both the Daggubati and Akkineni families are highly kicked about Venky and Chay joining hands for the second time after Premam. Nayan and Samantha joining this crazy project now has taken the excitement factor to the next level.
TRS Bags All 3 RS Seats, Cong Dejected!
As expected, ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi successfully bagged all the three Rajya Sabha seats from the state, elections for which were held on Friday. The counting took place an hour later. While Joginipalli Santosh and Badugula Lingaiah Yadav got 32 votes each, another TRS candidate Banda Prakash Mudiraj got 33 votes.
The minimum number of first preference votes required for a candidate to get elected to the Rajya Sabha from Telangana is 30.On the other hand, Congress party candidate, former Union minister P Balram Naik could get only 10 votes.
The party, despite knowing that it lacks adequate strength in the assembly, fielded Naik only to see that the TRS should not walk away the RS seats without any contest.
In all, 108 MLAs in the 119-member Telangana assembly cast their votes on Friday. The TRS originally had only 63 MLAs and later won two more seats in the by-elections.
However, in the last four years, its strength went up to 90, because of defection of 12 Telugu Desam Party MLAs, seven Congress MLAs, two BSP MLAs, three YSRC MLAs and one CPI MLA. The MIM, which has seven MLAs in the assembly also supported the TRS.
The Bharatiya Janata Party which has five MLAs, the TDP having two MLAs and lone CPI (M) MLA stayed away from voting.TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy, who defected to the Congress party, also did not cast his vote, saying he had submitted his resignation to the assembly membership.
Two Congress MLAs – Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S A Sampath Kumar – could not cast their votes because of their expulsion from the assembly for their alleged unruly behaviour in the assembly on March 12, when Governor E S L Narasimhan was addressing the joint session of the assembly and council on the commencement of the budget session.
The two MLAs challenged their expulsion in the high court later. The court, which ordered a stay on notifying their vacancies by the Election Commission for six weeks, did not pass any orders on their right to vote in the Rajya Sabha elections.
Radhika Apte Asked To Perform Phone Sex
Dusky siren Radhika Apte is one such brilliant and non-conformist actress in Bollywood and always speaks her heart out without any filters. She recently appeared on Neha Dhupia’s popular chat show BFFs with Vogue, with her BFF Rajkumar Rao and some startling revelations.
The show is quite popular for Neha’s naughty questions and never fail to make the guests spill secrets. Radhika Apte is again on headlines for her shocking revelation and weird experience, that she had during auditions. Radhika confessed that she was asked to do a phone sex for auditions, which she never did before that.
It was for Anurag Kashyap’s movie Dev D and she explained that she tied her hair and ate a lollipop or something, and finally, she did it. But unfortunately, she didn’t get that role as the makers had roped in Mahie Gill for that. That time, she was living in Pune and also stated that she didn’t know anything about phone sex. Maybe Mahie’s phone sex was better. LOL.
The revelation left her BFF Rajkumar as well as the guest Neha shocked and surprised. By the way, Radhika also revealed on the same show that she has slapped a south star for tickling her feet during the shooting.
That Joke On Assange And Zuckerberg!!
There is both good as well bad things in humans and we are solely responsible which side we choose. It is a proven fact that people tend to choose bad over good for reasons better known to psychologists.
Recently, a joke about Assange and Zuckerberg are making rounds over social media and it is definitely a hard-hitting message to our narrow thinking.
The joke is all about how people declared Julian Assange as the criminal for exposing the inner workings of governments, military, and trade deals around the world and he claims himself as a political refugee and he did it for to expose the flaws in the government. But Mark Zuckerberg, who is the man behind Facebook, is said to be giving away all our information to corporations for money and people call him as Man of the year.
The irony is that if a man like Assange does good things in an illegal way, like a Robinhood, we tag him as a criminal, but idolise the one who is illegally looting all our information without our consent. What kind of a society are we actually living in? The joke reflects our mentalities, isn’t it?
On the flip side, Assange is accused of rape somewhere in Sweden, while Zuckerberg faces no such cases.
MLA Doing A Jawaan Like Mistake!!
Long back we’ve discussed the aspect of promoting a film in the right direction. That means one has to promote the film in relevance to its content rather than promising something on posters and showing something else inside the movie.
In the recent times, Sai Dharam Tej’s Jawaan did a similar mistake. The movie has reasonably good content which deals with loyalty towards country and title was picked accordingly. But the makers showed a lot of romantic chemistry between Sai Dharam and Mehreen on the posters rather sticking to the concept of the film. And that misfired big time in theatres, becoming one of the causes for the film to bomb.
Now, the title MLA sounds like a political thing and makers abbreviated it as “Manchi Lakshanalunna Abbayi”. And then there is Kajal’s glamour all over the posters as a crowd puller. Naturally, that gives completely different outlook about the movie and that is what happened in theatres today. The film has complete routine masala content akin to the title and the glamour on posters is limited to a couple of songs only.
At least the latest set of publicity stints should reflect the real theme and subject of the movie for it to grab some attention. Let’s see what the makers will do.
