Tamil star hero Vijay Sethupathi, the most experimenting star of Tamil cinema, for that matter Indian cinema, has chosen a completely unconventional and most difficult character for his landmark 25th film, “Seethakathi”.

To celebrate the actor’s birthday today, makers of ‘Seethakathi’ unveiled the first look poster featuring Vijay Sethupathi from the film, and it is sensational. Vijay is playing the role of an old drama artist in the film. His make up as an old man is so perfect that hardly anyone would believe that he is Vijay Sethupathi himself.

Reportedly, Academy Award winners from US, Kevin Haney and Alex Noble have done this make up for Vijay Sethupathi to make him look convincing as an old man, and they seem to have done a great job. Reports say that it takes nearly four hours for Vijay to get the make up done, quite a challenging role he chose for his landmark 25th film.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi will make his Telugu cinema debut with ‘Sye Raa’. He will play Megastar Chiranjeevi’s confidante, Obayya in the historical film.

Veteran actor Manchu Mohan Babu, who is making his comeback to silver screen after a sabbatical of more than two years, is going to take audience by surprise with his dual role.

When the title of Mohan Babu’s new film was announced as ‘Gayatri’, many were puzzled. We have now learnt that he is playing both the Hero and Villain characters in ‘Gayatri’, and the title is named after the bad guy’s character, Gayatri Patel.

The title indicates that Babu’s villain character will take center stage in the film. History is proof that Mohan Babu has delivered his best performances when he played grey characters. So, keeping the film’s result aside, Mohan Babu’s performance is expected to be a major highlight in Gayatri.

Also starring Manchu Vishnu, Shriya Saran and Nikhila Vimal in key roles, ‘Gayatri’ is being directed by Madan of ‘Pellaina Kothalo’ fame.

One of the top actresses of present Tollywood, Rakul Preet Singh, seems to be going back to Bollywood with a bang.

Four years after the release of her debut Bollywood film, Yaariyan, Rakul is going to have her second Hindi release, ‘Aiyaary’, this year, on Feb 9. Even before this film hits screens, Rakul might have just signed her next Bollywood film, a biggie opposite Ajay Devgn.

According to reports, Rakul has been roped in to pair with Bollywood star hero Ajay Devgn in a new untitled project. Devgn, who has earlier romanced Tollywood leading ladies – Kajal and Tamannah, has reportedly eyed Rakul Preet this time. Touted be a rom-com, the film will go on floors in the second quarter of this year. This biggie is indeed a huge opportunity for Rakul to bounce back in Bollywood.

In Telugu, Rakul has Nani-Nag multistarrer and director Harish Shankar’s multistarrer in pipeline.

We have already reported about the special teaser for Sr NTR’s Biopic that has been filmed to give as a gift to Nandamuri fans on the eve of the legendary actor-politician’s death anniversary (vardhanti), on Jan 18.

However, the latest we hear is that Balayya has aborted the idea on the advice of his family members and well wishers. He got convinced that releasing the first promo of his ambitious Biopic on his father’s life on the eve of his ‘death anniversary’ might not be a good idea as it might hurt the sentiments of fans.

Hence Balayya has now decided to avoid Jan 18 and is looking for another prosperous date. The teaser will nonetheless be released in the month of January only.

Suriya’s Gang has picked up substantially bringing fresh hopes to distributors, buyers. Despite good reviews, the film initially got relatively less openings for Suriya’s stardom taking many by surprise. Release in less number of theatres is said to be the reason.

However, the makers have increased the screens. In addition to it, Suriya himself aggressively promoting the film in Telugu states. Leaving his Tamil market, Suriya has put complete focus on Telugu market without even taking festival off.

During the film’s success meet in Hyderabad, Suriya had said, “This is the first Pongal, I’m not in my home. I’m not celebrating the festival with my wife, kids. But yes, interacting with people is giving me great satisfaction, boosting my energy.”

As part of his tour, Suriya has covered Rajahmundry, Bhimavaram, Vijayawada, Eluru, Guntur where he visited theatres and people said to have given him a grand welcome all over.

Veering towards BO collections, interestingly in Krishna district alone, the film picked up drastically such that 4th Day figures are almost double to that of Day 1.
