While most of the films released during Sankranthi have already made their way to OTT platforms within a few weeks, one notable exception was Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignypathi starring Ravi Teja. Movies like The Raja Saab, Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, Nari Nari Naduma Murari, and Anaganaga Oka Raju have already premiered on their respective streaming platforms shortly after their theatrical runs.

Despite underperforming at the box office, many were curious about why Bhartha Mahasayulaku Wignypathi had not yet arrived on OTT. After weeks of speculation, it has now been confirmed that the film will have its digital premiere on ZEE5 on March 13.

The film, which also featured actresses Ashika Ranganath and Dimple Hayathi in glamorous roles, is expected to get a relatively clear window on OTT, with no major theatrical releases around the same time.

For Ravi Teja, the OTT release comes as a relief. When a film delays its digital premiere without any clarity, it often creates negative speculation among fans and within the trade. The situation had reminded many of Agent starring Akhil Akkineni, which took nearly a year after its theatrical release to finally arrive on a streaming platform.

Superstar Mahesh Babu’s much-anticipated next film with legendary director S. S. Rajamouli, tentatively titled Varanasi, is progressing at a rapid pace as the team pushes ahead with an ambitious shooting schedule.

The film unit recently completed a major schedule in Georgia. However, their return to India turned out to be challenging due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. With several international flights usually passing through Dubai and many airlines temporarily suspending those routes, the team had to travel back using alternative paths, which reportedly increased the logistics cost significantly.

Despite these hurdles, Rajamouli and his team remain committed to their grand vision. The makers are now planning an even more ambitious schedule in Antarctica within the next month. According to reports, the team will first fly to South America and then travel to Antarctica via a specially arranged cruise ship along with actors, technicians, extras, and filming equipment.

Shooting in Antarctica will be carried out under strict environmental regulations, as permissions to film on the continent are extremely rare. If completed as planned, Varanasi will become one of the few large-scale productions to shoot in the icy region known for its extreme sub-zero temperatures.

The film reportedly features an impressive cast including Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran alongside Mahesh Babu. The project has already created massive buzz after Rajamouli unveiled an early glimpse, raising expectations not only across India but also among international audiences.

Court Pair’s Band Melam Hit by Release Issues

Producer Kona Venkat’s upcoming film Band Melam, starring the popular Court pair Harsh Roshan and Sridevi, has been facing multiple release hurdles.

The film was initially scheduled to hit theatres on March 13, but the makers postponed it to March 18 after the film Toxic unexpectedly backed out of its planned release. However, the situation changed again with Ustaad Bhagat Singh entering the race, prompting the team to defer Band Melam indefinitely.

Apart from the uncertainty around its release date, the makers are also finding it difficult to build strong buzz for the film. The team had expected the project to generate considerable curiosity among audiences and the trade since the successful Court combination of Harsh Roshan and Sridevi is reuniting.
