Sudheer Varma and Nikhil’s Keshava finally turned out to be a safe venture and raked in profits to producer and partly to distributors. But this is not all. The film has its own flaws. Especially, director Sudheer missed out a few logics as he put all energies on stylish making leaving substance aside. This is where the Swamy Ra Ra director has to work up on.

While Swamy Ra Ra was passable and Dohchay was a failure, Sudheer seems to have learnt no lessons as he did a handful of mistakes in Keshava too.

Had Sudheer worked on substance in Keshava and had he made it a taut thriller, the film’s fate would had been further better. The fact that Keshava couldn’t cross Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada says it all. But thanks to Telugu audiences who passed the film with big heart. But only very few chances come to directors and they need to use them precisely.

Now, as Sudheer all set to work with Sharwa for his next, it’s time for him to go back to the drawing board and work well.

Prabhas, who had been enjoying vacation in the US ever since the release of Baahubali 2, has finally returned to India. And, it is a pleasant surprise to see him as he has completely come out of the Baahubali look.

In the poster that was unveiled by Sunny herself, she is seen rolling on red chillis wearing nothing.. well she has covered her attention-grabbing assets. The campaign is titled “Spice Up Your Life! Go Vegetarian”.

Looking at the poster, people wonder if she is really promoting vegetarianism or something else. Her intention was noble but the too-hot-to-handle picture of hers is diverting the attention away from the message.

On work front, Sunny will be next seen shaking her booty in an item song in ‘PSV Garuda Vega’ starring Rajasekhar.

The controversy surrounding the song “Gudilo Badilo” from DJ Duvvada Jagannadham has grown bigger with some Brahmin Associations claiming that the lyrics are quite objectionable. At a time when the song raced past 5-million-views in record time, director Harish Shankar has decided to give a stunning clarity.

In fact, Brahmin elders have objected to the lines like “Agarahaarala Tamalapakalle Taakutondi Tamakam” written by Sahiti for the song. Talking about this, Harish Shankar introduced himself as a pure and chaste Brahmin before claiming that he didn’t spell any insult for Brahmins.

“Of course, a guy from Agraharam compares his love with the things he sees around him. He will talk about only Tamalapaku (Betel leaf) from his place but won’t compare love with Maavidaku (Mango Leaf) from Pakistan” quipped Harish Shankar, clarifying his stand upright.

He further added that If a guy says he can’t focus on studies, it doesn’t mean he is insulting Goddess Saraswathi. “A betel leaf from Agraharam is purer because a leaf once used for Abhishekam will not be used again. So, a brahmin guy has to compare his love with a Tamalapaku but not with a piece of chicken” he avers.

“By spending a year on the script and spending 70 crores to make it, definitely my target will not be mocking off any particular community. We are showing a Brahmin as a hero in the film, not Allu Arjun. I will feel happy if you don’t understand the lyric, but don’t try to interpret in wrong way” he said concluding. Also, Harish Shankar thanked for the 5+ million views.

Even as his ongoing film with Boyapati is yet to wrap up, Bellamkonda Sreenivas is going ahead to work with Sriwass for an untitled film. The fact is that the makers are hunting for heroines but not many are apparently showing interest to pair up with Sreenivas whose last two films Speedunnodu and Alludu Seenu were failures. Many say that Tamanna’s fortunes were overturned after doing Speedunnodu in T-town.

While for Boyapati film, they managed to get Rakul, makers of Sreenivas’ next seems to be struggling to rope in biggies. It’s buzzed in industry circuits that Rakul has agreed to act alongside Bellamkonda only because of two reasons – fat pay cheque and director Boyapati who had given her Sarrainodu.

Even Mehreen is said to be thinking twice to sign the film opposite Bellamkonda now and she hasn’t signed the film on the dotted line yet.

While his dad and producer Bellamkonda Suresh is running from pillar to post to get big directors and good cast for Sreenivas films, but it has to be seen whether all these really help Sreenivas to set his career. Let’s wait and see.

Universal hero Kamal Haasan has said that he would be forced to quit films if the GST rate for the regional cinema is not slashed.

It is known that the Union govt. has finalized a uniform tax of 28 percent on films that release in India, irrespective of whether they belong to Hollywood, Bollywood or regional.

Several South filmmakers and actors have started crying foul over the hiked tax on film industry. Earlier, on average, regional films used to pay around 14 percent tax to the govt, so the new tax is almost double.

“We welcome GST and one India one tax but this steep hike in tax will ruin regional cinema. If I can’t afford the tax I’ll have to quit. I will not work for the government. What is this? Is this the East India Company?” said the 62-year-old actor-filmmaker.

“It is unfair to expect a regional film which gets a big release only in a single State to be charged tax on par with a Hindi or English movie that gets a countrywide release in several screens. Regional films, Hollywood films and Hindi films cannot be put on the same slab,” the actor said, speaking at a meeting organised by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce.

Kamal urged the union government to cut the GST rate to 12-15 per cent, at least in the case of regional films.
