‘Bad Moms’ star Kristen Bell on why Dax Shepard is a perfect husband and an amazing dad

Kristen Bell is all set to appear in the upcoming comedy show, “Bad Moms,” scheduled to be released on July 29. The “Frozen” actress will portray the character of Kiki, an overstressed mom of two kids.In a recent interview, Bell discussed her role in the movie and how similar it is to her real life as just like in the film, she is also a mother of two kids. Talking about her husband, Dax Shepard of “Parenthood” fame, Bell shared her experience of raising the kids.
Bell said that she and Shepard have an understanding where one knows when to take it over from the other. She explained that it helps her greatly to avoid getting to the breaking point as a mom.”My husband and I tap out and take mini-meditative breaks. Because we have two toddlers — they’re so f—–‘ loud. And we keep an eye on each other. Where we’ll go, ‘Oh, okay you can take a break, I’ll take over.’ We step in. When you’re in the ring, you gotta tap out with your partner. That’s how we do it,” Bell said, adding that with constant support from Shepard, she is able to raise her kids more efficiently and at the same time, remain stress-free.
Bell further talked about how she works out her marriage with Shepard and how hard it is to maintain stability in their lives together.”We fought a lot and I loved a dramatic exit. If I could slam a door, I felt so powerful,” Bell stated.
“If I could get in my car and screech away, it was even better. He said to me, ‘If we have an issue, you can’t leave. We’re going to talk or I’m not going to do this with you.’ I loved him so much that I was like, ‘I better get my act together’.”
Discussing her role in “Bad Moms,” Bell said that the part is very similar to her real-life experiences.
China, Russia to highlight military ties with SCS drills

China and Russia are underscoring their military partnership, by holding a joint naval exercise in the South China Sea (SCS), following a ruling, by an international tribunal at The Hague, which did not go in Beijing’s favour. The drill will “enhance the capabilities of the two navies to jointly deal with maritime security threats,” China’s Defence Ministry spokesman, Senior Colonel Yang Yujun, announced on Thursday
‘Growing strategic partnership’
Analysts say that the exercise is a confirmation of the growing strategic partnership between Beijing and Moscow. “The strategic relationship between the two countries is already an established reality” says Shen Dingli, Vice-Dean of the Institute of International Affairs at Shanghai’s Fudan University. In an e-mailed response to The Hindu, he said that the decision of the United States to deploy the Terminal High Altitude Air Defence (THAAD) missile system in South Korea, opposed by both China and Russia, has reinforced Beijing-Moscow ties.
The state-run Global Times points out that the maneuvers could be the result of joint statement signed by China and Russia in June this year. “On June 26, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement in Beijing which aims to reinforce global strategic stability. Experts believe that the military drill in the SCS in September is an action based on that statement.”
Military clout
Already the two countries are demonstrating their military clout, near, and far away from their coastlines. Last August, Russia and China carried out military exercises in the Peter the Great Gulf, south of the Russian Pacific city of Vladivostok. A few months earlier, they had conducted their first joint naval exercises in European waters in the Black Sea and Mediterranean.
The upcoming show of strength by Moscow and Beijing follows the ruling by a tribunal, established by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), at the unilateral request of the Philippines. The panel rejected the legality of China’s claims to the nine-dash demarcation line, which encompasses most of the waters of the SCS.
China, on its part has trashed the ruling as “null and void”, by pointing out that the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), which was the reference point in the tribunal’s ruling, neither covers historical claims, nor territorial issues.
Speculation on size, site of exercise
Colonel Yang did not specify the size or location of the exercise in the SCS — whether it would be held close to the disputed Spratly islands or the Paracel archipelago — or not far from the Chinese naval base at Hainan island. There is speculation in the Chinese media that the exercise could consider use of the disputed Woody island (Yonxing island as called by China) in the Paracel (Xisha) island chain, but not the Spratly islands, which have drawn sharper global attention.
“The Yongxing [Woody] Island airport in the Xisha [Paracel] Islands can be used for military aircraft, but others in the Nansha [Spratly] Islands are not ready yet,” said Song Zhongping, a Beijing-based military expert as quoted by the Global Times. The exact dates of the exercises are also crucial as the Hangzhou summit of the G-20 countries are scheduled for September 4-6. “Chinese and Russian military forces will avoid the G20 Summit due to the sensitiveness of the timing,” says Shi Yinhong of the Renmin University in Beijing.

Jakkanna Movie Review
Story:
Ganesh/Jakkanna (Sunil) is a young lad who believes that one should go any extent for those who helped him. He puts those words in deeds all of the time. One day, he happens to go to Vishakapatnam where he meets and falls in love with Sahasra (Mannara Chopra). And then he is on a mission to get hold of Bhairaagi (Kabir Dulhan Singh), a monster who creates terror in Vizag, even though nobody saw him. Jakkanna manages to bring him out, but at the scene of confrontation, something unexpected happens. What happens next and how it impacts the story is the rest.
Performances:
Sunil is good in the role of Jakkanna/Ganesh. His comedy timing and that dialogue delivery are his strengths from the days as a comedian. Even though the charm on his face is lost, the remaining abilities are intact. He almost walked through the role effortlessly. Mannara Chopra is all in for glamour in the film where she is the best. She could not even give proper lip movement in sync with the dubbing. Nagineedu is good as always. Kabir Dulhan Singh is an exact fit as a baddie. Sapthagiri track is entertaining at the start but got boring later. 30 years Industry Prudhvi rocked the show as Kattappa. Remaining comedians – Chitram Sreenu, Raghu Karumanchi, Satya, Raja Ravindra, Posani are okay.
Technical Performances:
Vamsi Krishna Akella directed a flop film called Raksha in 2008 and this is a sort of comeback for him. He came up with a routine story and embedded it with forcible comedy which worked in parts. Dialogues are also good but at some places, got overboard due to those extra efforts for rhyming. The first half is good in parts with a good interval bang which creates some excitement. The second half is again a disappointment with entertainment dipping. But then 30 Years Prudhvi as Kattappa brought back it on track. The climax is once more predictable.
Songs composed by Dinesh, have nothing but the glamour fest by Mannara Chopra. The background score is also okay in parts. Ram Prasad’s Camera work is good and colourful with bright colours. Senior Editor MR Varma could have been a lot better. Action choreography by Kanal Kannan is good while Production Values are appropriate.
Plus Points:
Clean Entertainer
Screenplay
Climax
Minus Points:
Slow paced
Predictability
Final Say:
Jakkanna is another routine comedy film from Sunil. It is slightly better from his previous films but still suffers from all that old problems like forcible comedy, mindless punch dialogues, etc. It has to be seen how the film sustains at the box office.
