Now, Special Awards To Short Filmmakers
After having stupendous success in its first five editions, the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) is entering into its sixth year. To commemorate this significant achievement, SIIMA has a latest addition its sixth edition – SIIMA 2017 is going to have SIIMA Short Film Awards, a special initiative to recognise and acknowledge the talent in short films segment.
SIIMA Short Film Awards will be given in 8 categories for all South Indian languages. And it’s going to honour the short filmmakers and acknowledge their efforts to churn out interesting content in short film segment.
This is not all. SIIMA hasn’t just limited it to award the winners. But the winners will also be given a chance to meet and pitch their ideas to film stars at the SIIMA 2017 main event. And needless to add that this is a golden opportunity for the aspiring filmmakers.
“Over the last two years more and more aspiring filmmakers are taking to internet to show their talent and we’ve observed a trend of short filmmakers becoming highly successful filmmakers. We at SIIMA would like to take this opportunity of tapping the right talent at the right time and provide them a platform where the world will recognise them,” the organisers of SIIMA said in a statement.
Talking about SIIMA Short Film Awards, Adusumilli Brinda Prasad Chairperson of SIIMA said that it’s an attempt to discover young filmmakers who are set to change the dynamics of filmmaking with their fresh thoughts and techniques.
Kamal's film finally getting ready
Well, after several months, here is the new development we learned for the most-anticipated sequel to Universal Hero Kamal Hassan’s Viswaroopam.
As the financial problems for ace producer Aascar Ravichandran impacted the highly anticipated Viswaroopam-II, fans of Kamal Haasan were left with very little amount of information regarding the project. The film, which was almost shelved and delayed multiple times in last two+ years, is finally being revived and getting ready for release in all languages.
The latest reports suggest that the dubbing activity, including Telugu and other versions, is currently underway and the final copy is expected by October this year.
Touted as a spy thriller, Viswaroopam-II is speculated to have strong mother sentiment and top-notch action episodes. It’s been 4 years since first installment of Viswaroopam strode into cinemas and most of the cast reunited for second part as well. In the meanwhile, Kamal walked over to Sabash Naidu and discontinued after he fractured his leg in July last year.
It can be recalled about the fantabulous success of its first part after a series of controversies including an outrage from a religious group.
Cute Telugu Girl's Cameo For Jr NTR
Apparently, Jr NTR’s latest movie “Jai Lava Kusa” team is braving hot sun as well to wrap the shooting schedules on time. With NTR playing three different roles in the movie, an extensive work is required to carve out the film much to tastes of audiences.
At the same time, director KS Ravindra has roped in happening beauties like Rashi Khanna and Nivedha Thomas as leading ladies of the movie. We hear that a Telugu girl is now roped in to do a cameo and her role was already shot.
Post the success of Prema Katha Chitram, Telugu girl Nanditha was expected to roar in Tollywood but flop show of films like Savitri has slowed her down heavily. We hear that she will play a 5-minute role in Jai Lava Kusa and it’s very crucial to the film. Already she has shot for her portions and everyone including NTR and producer Kalyan Ram are super impressed with her work.
In his previous film Janata Garage, Kajal did a cameo through item song and that worked well both for film and also her career. Hope Nanditha will also meet similar fate now.
Gali To Quit Politics?
Mining baron and former minister of Karnataka Gali Janardhan Reddy is contemplating to quit politics. Gali seems to have decided not to contest direct elections. He said to have divulged the same to his close aides.
As Karnataka state elections are due in a year, all eyes are on Gali. It was buzzed that Gali would contest once again and would be active in BJP in Ballari, Rayachur districts and help the party win there. But contrary to this, Gali is contemplating to say bid adieu to direct politics.
While it’s not clear whether he would continue in politics indirectly, it’s learnt that the businessman-politician wants to stay away from electoral politics at the moment.
Gali had been jailed in illegal mining case in 2015 and walked out of jail only one year ago. His daughter’s lavish wedding too stroked controversy for its high spend. Looks like, Gali is unhappy over the prevailing political conditions within and outside party. Gali, who is a staunch follower of Sushma Swaraj, isn’t comfortable with Modi and Amit Shah’s leadership. Let’s wait and see whether Gali would change his mind or not.

After making her debut with Krishna Gaadi Veera Premagadha movie, heroine Mehrene Kaur Pirzada has shot to fame immediately, thanks to her good PR team. In no time, she signed a horde of movies or at least in talks for half-a-dozen films. But here comes the shocker.
As per reports coming up from Film Nagar, this young beauty is now losing offers quickly as there is no clarity about adjusting dates from her. Firstly she was supposed to pair up with Allu Sirish in a movie but that film got other heroines now. Then she was in talks with Nitin for Krishna Chaitanya’s upcoming directorial, which has Trivikram as the producer, but they too opted for another one.
More than these unconfirmed projects, actually it was confirmed long back that newcomer Venky Atluri’s debut film with Varun Tej will have Mehrene playing the lead role. But latest reports indicated that she’s out of this project too. The makers are searching for another face, a slim girl most probably, both Rashi Khanna and Anu Emmanuel are said to be in the race.
Cut to the point, losing three happening projects back to back is surely a big jolt to Mehrene. Currently, she’s shooting for Raviteja’s Raja The Great in Darjeeling under Anil Ravipudi’s direction.

Wipro fires 600 employees; more lay offs expected
Five days before announcing the scheduled fourth quarter results of fiscal 2016-17, India’s leading Technology giant Wipro Limited has officially engaged in an employee layoff. The IT company, on Thursday, made a reduction of 600 under-performing employees, also giving strength to the growing rumor that there could as many as 2000 more job cuts.
With more than 1.79 lakh employees, the Bengaluru based Wipro is regarded as third largest IT company in India. ‘These job cuts are taken up as part of rigorous performance appraisal process’, said the company’s senior manager who doesn’t want his name to be disclosed. He further adds that annual performance appraisal process will also include mentoring, re-training and up-skilling of staff, besides lay offs.
The unexpected reduction call by Wipro comes at the time when Indian IT industry is extremely worried about US President Donald Trump’s new executive order for tightening the existing H1-B regulations.
Given the unwavering state of Information Technology after Trump assuming office, similar job-cuts are expected to extend across IT industry. And, in the last quarter, American MNC Cognizant also threatened to axe 2 to 3% of its employees as part of regular appraisal cycle.
KCR Wins Unanimously!
TRS supremo, Telangana crusader and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been named as the President of the TRS. TRS senior leader Nayani Narasimha Reddy, who acted as the presiding officer, announced KCR’s name for the party president along with party’s another senior leader and MP K Keshava Rao. The party leaders said that it is unanimous decision to elect KCR as party president.
Earlier speculations had it that KTR would be elevated as the party president. However, contrary to those reports, KCR has been elected once again.
Meanwhile, party’s plenary is going to be held today at Kompally in Hyderabad. This will be followed by party’s massive public meeting on April 27th in Warangal commemorating TRS party’s formation day. Huge arrangements have been made for plenary.
