TDP Sr Leader Silpa To Join YSR Congress
Former Minister and TDP Party In-charge for Nandyala constituency is planning to quit the TDP and likely to join Opposition YSRCP. According to reports, Silpa is going to join YSRCP within two days in the presence of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
As TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu is going to allot Nandyala seat to Bhuma family in the by-election, Silpa seems to have decided to switch his loyalties from TDP to YSRCP. Silpa said to had got information that Naidu is going to give the seat to Bhuma family only. Upset with it, Silpa who share rivalry with Bhuma family is now going to join YSRCP and if all goes well, he may contest from YSRCP in Nandyala constituency.
The by-election is facilitated after its sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy passed away on March 12, 2017 due to a sudden cardiac arrest. Nagi Reddy had won in Nandyala in 2014 general elections on YSRCP ticket and later joined TDP. While he was expecting ministry in Chandrababu’s cabinet rejig, Bhuma had suffered heart attack and succumbed to it before the rejig.
So, Nandyala by-election is so crucial for both TDP and YSRCP. Both the parties are taking it prestigious. While TDP wants to win the by-election and come as vindicate from the allegations of defective politics, YSRCP wants to win back its constituency and give a severe jolt to TDP.
YouTube Mafia Crushing Tollywood Talents
Like selling satellite rights and audio rights, these days selling the rights of film’s trailers, teasers, song videos for digital platforms became another interesting game. And this game is turning dirtier due to the greed of those YouTube companies that buy content, which is, in fact, turning into a mafia.
You would have already noticed that many popular TV channels’ YouTube pages are not showing cinema related teasers and song content anymore. This is because, even if a 10-second clip from a teaser or song from a film is used with video on YouTube, immediately the company that bought Digital Rights is sending a copyright violation notice. And they are demanding huge money to go back on their copyright claim.
Same is the case with short films and spoofs, wherein some creative guys use a small video from a film song or use an audio song in the background. A short film with 1 lakh hits may fetch a revenue of 2500 rupees in long run, but just for using a 30-second clip, the Copyright owners are demanding 15,000 rupees nearly. This YouTube mafia is sure slowly crushing creative talents who want to make some good content on films.
Either the YouTube channel owners (TV channels and individual guys) have to pay these original copyright holders (even for a 10-second clip) or they have to remove the videos. If they don’t remove the video, then YouTube will shut down the channel after three such strikes.
In the wake of all these happenings, Tamil Producers Council president, hero Vishal, has urged all the producers to give teasers and song videos content to all the TV channels for free and to upload on YouTube as well. We have to see how Tamil producers will respond about this and if Telugu producers will also take a clue from it.

H-1B Visa Review : Good or Bad for Indian Techies?
United States President Donald Trump has ordered for the review of H-1B visa programme that is popular with Indian tech professionals. Trump has signed the executive order on April 18, 2017 (Tuesday) targeting the foreign tech professionals who’re working in the US. Surprisingly, the US tech industry and the corporate sector have welcomed the review of the H-1B visa programme and praised it as “much-needed” review of H-1B and expressed confidence that it would help them bring in the best and the brightest from across the world.
Tech advocacy group FWD.US said that the announcement should improve the visa system for highly-skilled workers. “Highly-skilled immigrants create new American jobs, raise wages for native-born workers, and contribute enormously to growing our economy. Finally, Congress should expand the number of H-1B visas offered while reforming the system to protect American workers”, said Todd Schulte, the group’s president.
As Trump ordered for review on H-1B, it kicked up a storm among Indian techies living in the US or planning to go to the US. Going into details like whether it’s good or bad, it’s a mixed for Indian techies. Whilst it’s going to tight the visa programme and makes it difficult, it’s boon for skilled and talented Indian techies which America & its corporate sector don’t want to lose. So in a way, it’s boon for highly talented techies, it’s bane for others who’re more passionate about American dreams and have little skills.
What US Corporate Biggies Say on H-1B Review?
Neil Bradley, senior vice-president and Chief Policy Officer of the US Chamber of Commerce, said, “Economic growth requires a skilled workforce, so it should be a priority to make sure American workers have the skills required to fill open jobs with American companies”.
* “It would be a mistake to close the door on high-skilled workers from around the world who can contribute to American businesses growth and expansion and make the U.S. more competitive around the world. The H-1B programme plays an important role in addressing this need, but it can be improved”, Bradley said.
* “We would encourage changes to the H-1B visas programme,” IBM CFO Martin Schroeter told CNBC in an interview. “The intent is to short-term high-skill kinds of visas, which is exactly how we use. It is clear that some companies have entirely built their business models around the H-1B visa programme which was not at all the intent.”
* The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) said that while the announcement reflected the administration’s desire to move towards reforms to the H-1B programme, there would be no immediate changes or impact on H-1B visas.
* “Simply put, it appears that the agencies are asked to review policies related to all visa programmes and recommend changes to root out fraud and abuse, and to propose additional reforms so that H-1B visas are awarded to the most skilled or highest-paid applicants,” the association said in a statement.
* AILA president William A Stock said that H-1B workers helped transform state and local economies across the nation, adding that the immigration system was critical to all geographic and industry sectors, not just Silicon Valley. H-1B workers are also vital to the healthcare system, and to manufacturing and energy industries, he said.
* “Any reforms proposed by the Trump administration as a result of this Executive Order should be based on facts and data, not innuendo and anecdote, and must ensure that our immigration system, including the H-1B programme, remain a viable tool for U.S. businesses seeking to build and maintain a globally-competitive workforce”, Stock said.
* Chicago-based Envoy, previously called VisaNow, said yesterday’s signing triggers a “top-to-bottom” performance review.
* The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF), a leading US science and tech policy think tank, hoped that the goal of Trump’s executive order on the H-1B programme is “mend it, don’t end it”.
* Reforming the programme could help improve its effectiveness in attracting the world’s best and the brightest, it said.
* “We welcome proposals to make the programme more effective. For example, replacing the H-1B lottery with a more merit-based system could advance the programme’s goals of attracting people with advanced STEM skills. We also welcome efforts to root out abuse, better enforce the existing rules, and increase the salary requirements”, ITIF President Robert D Atkinson said.
New Poster: Nithiin in Lie
After a lot of back and forth, finally the makers of Nithiin 24 have zeroed in on to its initial title – Lie. The first look of the film has been unveiled online today on the eve of actor Nithiin’s birthday.
Interestingly, Hanu has roped in actor Arjun as the film’s antagonist opposite Nithiin. It’s learnt that Arjun’s role would be on par with Nithiin’s role and said to be one of the powerful roles he had portaryed in the recent times. It’s said that Arjun’s role would reminisce us of his performances in Gentleman and Oke Okkadu.
Considering that Hanu Raghavapudi’s last film Krishnagaadi Veera Prema Gadha (KVPG) with the same production house 14 Reels Entertainment was both critical acclaim as well as commercial success, expectations on his ongoing film too are good.
The unit has left to the US for a 70-day-long schedule. The film is going to be shot in Vegas, las Angels, Sanfrancisco and chicago of the United States. Meanwhile, the makers have also decided the film’s release date. The film is planned for release on Aug 11, 2017.
To Impress Tamils, Telugu Villain Insults Tollywood
Popular for his villain roles in films like Prasthanam and recently Jyothilakshmi, actor Ajay Ghosh has carved out a name for himself. But actually, this actor is quite unhappy with Telugu film industry and media if we have to go by his comments.
Other day after attending the audio launch of the Tamil film “Tappu Tanda”, Ajay lifted Kollywood to the sky both by praising them and also insulting Telugu industry. “Due to my association with the communist party, I always wanted to work in Tamil film industry. In Telugu industry we need to act both in front of the camera and behind it. But here, the industry and Tamilians are great. I want to touch my head to the ground and bow them”, he claimed.
Also, he made bitter remarks on Telugu media for not interviewing him when his Tamil film “Visarnai” was selected by Indian Committee to be sent to Oscars. “These Tamil media people who don’t know me have called on the phone to take my interviews, but no calls from Telugu media had come. Only after I got some publicity, they too invited me for interviews” shared Ajay Ghosh.
Later his remarks turned very distasteful as he compared Telugu and Tamil auto drivers and also the Sambar cooked here and there. “When free, Tamil auto driver annas are seen reading newspapers, but there in our place, our guys are busy chewing pan. The Sambar cooked there leads to diarrhoea, while Sambar cooked in Chennai will be yummy and top notch” Ajay quipped, adding some dramatic satirical body language to his tone.
Well, to impress Tamil audiences or media, one need not insult Telugu autowalas, Telugu sambar or Telugu film industry and media. It’s high time producers and directors act big on these type of actors who never show respect for their mother-tongue but goes running after others.
At the same time, we need to find out what bad experiences promoted Ajay Ghosh to make such bitter comments filled with hatred.
Veteran Telugu Heroine Diagnosed With Cancer
Popular veteran Telugu heroine T Krishna Kumari, who happens to be one of the leading stars in the 60s and 70s of Telugu cinema, was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer couple of weeks ago.
Currently undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospital in Bannerghat, Bangalore, she’s said to be in huge need of O-positive blood for treatment and also she’s said to be responding well to chemotherapy.
Born on March 6th, 1933, 84-year-old Krishna Kumari’s elder sister Shavukaru Janaki is also a popular actress who has recently appeared in the movie Babu Bangaram of Venkatesh. After marriage to Indian-express editor Ajay Khaitan in the late 70s, Krishna Kumar has quit acting and settled in Bangalore.
Krishna Kumari acted in 150 Telugu films and about 30 Tamil and Kannada films. Her famous films include Bangaru Papa, Pelli Kanuka, Dr Chakrvarthy, Chilaka Gorinka and Ummadi Kutumbam as well. She acted with almost all the acting legends of Telugu cinema.
Krishnakumari’s husband expired in 2012, while she’s survived by daughter Dipika Maiya (a writer), son-in-law and a grandson. Hope the actress recovers soon from the illness.
Too Worst: Heroine Gagged & Tied To Bed
Other day there is a disturbing image of Tamil heroine Varalakshmi, daughter of hero Sarath Kumar from his first wife, doing rounds on the internet. In the picture, we could see her gagged and tied to a bed and the hashtag #VaralakshmiKidnapped got viral in no time. Here comes the worst part of it.
While Varalakshmi claimed that she’s not in town but in Delhi, and also safe, she revealed that it is part of her latest movie promotions. Also, the actress claimed innocence about the whole promotional campaign, which sounds so untrue. Publicising some objectionable images like this which look as if the actress is really getting sexually harassed is not a good idea to promote a film, isn’t it?
