One does not know how many political parties and individuals have taken power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan seriously, when he took up the cause of kidney patients of Uddanam area in Srikakulam and addressed a public meeting there.
But Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu seems to have taken Pawan Kalyan’s fight very seriously.
As the deadline fixed by Pawan Kalyan for the Naidu government to respond to the woes of Uddanam kidney patients came to a close on Friday, the chief minister reacted sharply and came up with some sops.
Naidu declared that those who had suffered damages to kidneys in Uddanam area would be treated as physically challenged and they would be given life-time pensions.
He instructed the Medical and Health department as well as Panchayat Raj department to take up the issue on war-footing and work on the remedial measures.
Calling for an international debate on Uddanam kidney ailment mystery, the chief minister said the government would take all steps to do intensive research on the disease and find out a permanent solution to the crisis.
“I have asked the scientists to discuss such issues on international forums like Indian Science Congress and come out with a solution,” he said.

However, Vinayak now feels that the project would not materialize given the rise in budgets, change in tastes of audiences etc.
Fans of NTR had very high expectations on Adhurs sequel and DVSK but Vinayak has politely distanced himself from both these projects. Some other director might have to step in if either of these films has to become a reality.
Mahesh Babu, Murugadoss movie which was initially planned for release on April 28 has been postponed to June 23 for the EID weekend.
Baahubali 2 is also expected to release on April 28 and Mahesh understandably does not want a conflict.

In a fresh jolt to the H-1B visa aspirants, to US Congressmen Republican Darrell Issa and Democrat Scott Peters reintroduced a bill in the Congress to prevent the use of H-1B visas.
The latest move is part of the world’s super power’s constant battle against outsourcing of American jobs to foreign workers, especially from the Indian IT industry in the watch of President elect Donald Trump, who had initiated the ‘Protect and Grow American Jobs Act’ mission during his election campaign.
If the bill is passed, workers possessing an H-1B visa would have to pay a minimum of $100,000, up from $60,000 currently. The bill will also remove the Master’s degree exemption to the cap on the number of visas available.
The same bill was introduced by Darrell Issa in July last year but it had failed to pass. Another bill introduced by a US Congresswoman regulates the use of the H-1B visas and issue limited work permits rather than the existing lottery system.
Ace director Rajamouli SS has today announced that Prabhas has wrapped up his part for ‘Baahubali 2’. He also thanked the Rebel Star for allotting 3.5 years for the project and believing in it more than anyone else.
However, it is heard that Prabhas is not yet free to divert his attention to his long pending projects until and unless Rajamouli permits him to do so.
A lot of VFX work of Baahubali 2 is still pending and Prabhas will have to keep the ‘Baahubali’ look intact until the graphics work is completed. If Rajamouli finds any scene unconvincing during the VFX work, he might order for patch work and Prabhas will have to take part in shooting. Balakrishna went all the way to Telangana Assembly Today for inviting Telangana CM KCR for ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ special show. However, He was informed by the Officials that CM left for his residence by then. So, Balayya went to Pragathi Bhavan and offered the invitation.

The Supreme Court yesterday asked the Ministry of Women & Child Development to check for the contradictions and exceptions in the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the IPC on the question of sexual abuse of a minor wife.
Acting on a petition filed by an NGO named Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) in which the NGO has claimed that while any sexual offence against a child below the age of 18 years is an offence, the exemption II under Section 375 of the Indian Penal Code allows sex with a wife not being under 15 years of age.
The Court directed the NGO to send its petition to Women & Child Development Secretary, saying that the Ministry would treat the petition as a representation and examine the legality of the provision raised in it.
According to the Sections 3 & 5 of POCSO Act aggravated penetrative sexual assault on girls up to the age of 18 years as minor and Section 6 lead to punishment not be less than 10 years and even life imprisonment in some cases.
However, exception II in Section 375 reads, “Sexual intercourse or sexual acts by a man with his own wife, the wife not being below 15 years, is not a rape.”
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday termed Singareni Collieries Company Limited as the jewel of the nation saying that the company is playing a vital role in meeting the power requirements of many south Indian state through its coal production.
Speaking on the SCCL during short term discussion in the Assembly, Chandrasekhar Rao said that the SCCL which began its operation in 1920 is growing by leaps and bounds. He said that the company is now running with a share of 49:51 between the Centre and the State.
Listing out the achievements of the SCCL, the Chief Minister said that the coal company produced 600 lakh tones of coal during the year 2015-16 registering a 15 pc growth as against 3 pc prior to 2014. He said that the SCCL was operating 46 mines- 30 underground and 16 open cast mines in the region. He said that as many as 56,866 workers are employed with the SCCL with 34,764 employed in underground mines and 10,427 in open cast mines. He also said that the government has enhanced the ex-gratia for accidental deaths of workers of the company from Rs 7 lakh to 25 lakh. He said that the TRS government has recently approved to revive the process of providing jobs to dependants of the workers recently.
Explaining about the company’s plans of expansion, Chandrasekhar Rao said that 20 new underground mines and 11 open cast mines would become inaugurated which would provide 11, 621 additional jobs. He said despite getting losses due to underground mines, the company was continuing the operation only for the job security of workers. He said the open casts were fetching higher profits. He also added that the company was foraying into the power generation segment also.
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged that the demonitisation move by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ruined the country’s economy while pushing every citizen into crisis. He also slammed Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao for supporting the note ban shattered Telangana’s financial position.
Addressing a massive rally, organized by ex-minister Danam Nagender from Charminar to Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the note ban proved to be a surgical strike on small and medium businesses, traders and common man. He said no section of the society was spared and demonitisation has crippled everyone. He said that the Congress party has organised the rally to protest against the inconvenience caused to people and the indifferent attitude of government towards the sufferings of common man.
Uttam Kumar Reddy alleged that the Prime Minister implemented the decision of demonitisation without understanding its consequences. The decision stripped common people of their rights over their own money and they were forced to stand in long queues to withdraw their hard earned earnings. He accused Modi of derailing the country’s economic growth whose pace was well set during the regime of Congress-led UPA Government.
The TPCC chief questioned Modi’s silence over 50-day deadline. He said that the Prime Minister himself had promised to face any punishment if he fails to relieve people from the hardships of demonitisation within 50 days. However, he said at the end of 50-day deadline, Narendra Modi delivered a disappointing speech and did not even mention anything about lifting restrictions on withdrawals from banks and ATMs. Even after 55 days, there is no change in the situation and people are standing in long queues at banks and ATMs to withdraw cash.
Uttam Kumar Reddy also slammed the Chief Minister for supporting the demonitisation move. He accused KCR of mortgaging the interest of Telangana by extending his support to Narendra Modi’s note ban move. Quoting the speech of SC Welfare Minister Jagadish Reddy in Assembly on Wednesday, he said that the State Government was blaming demonitisation for delay in clearance of Fee Reimbursement dues which would directly impact nearly 20 lakh families, including 14 lakh students. Similarly, TRS Govt is blaming demonitisation for not clearing the crop loan waiver dues. He feared that all developmental activities would come to a halt under the impact of note ban. He demanded that the Chief Minister come up with complete details of impact of demonitisation on Telangana State.
The Congress leader demanded that the Prime Minister reply to Citizen’s Charter of Demand presented by AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi on demonitisation issue.

Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Krish attempting to revisit India’s history and thus making a film on India’s mighty Telugu warrior Satakarni (ruled the India in 2nd Century AD) is being touted as the Telugu pride.
As the film is inching closer towards its release on the eve of Sankranthi (Jan 12), which again is the major Telugu festival and festival of farmers, the makers of GPSK are hoping to get tax exemption from the governments of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana.
Since TDP government is in ruling and it’s giving due importance to the film considering Satakarni’s rich historic significance besides its connection to the film’s protagonist Balayya, TDP government is expected exempt the film from the entertainment tax levied by the state govt.
And now all eyes are on KCR about the T-state’s exemption on the entertainment tax on the film. Already Balayya has met KCR on Friday at his house after the Assembly session and asked him to watch the special screening of the film.
One has to wait and see whether KCR would give in the tax exemption to GPSK or not. An announcement regarding the tax exemption to GPSK is expected to made by Friday evening or latest by Saturday morning.
Ram Charan has already confirmed that he will be seen in a 30 second cameo in his father, megastar Chiranjeevi’s Khiadi No.150. During a recent promotional interview, Charan has explained how hard it was for him to shoot with megastar.
Charan revealed that although his shot is of just 30 seconds, he had taken several takes to pull off the scene. ‘When I see megastar in action, just like any of his millions of fans, I can’t do anything but stare at him in awe. For this very reason, my unit had to bear with me for several takes as I couldn’t concentrate on my acting,’ confessed Charan.
It may be recalled that Chiru and Charan were earlier seen together on silver screen in the young hero’s industry hit film ‘Magadheera’ and ‘Bruce Lee’. Now, the talk of the town is that the star heroine like Tamannaah has been chosen to reprise the role of a middle-class, girl next door character played by Ritu Varma in the Telugu version. However, this is a masterstroke by director Gautham Menon, who is going to produce Pellichoopulu’s Tamil remake.
The Tamil version will be directed by Senthil Veerasamy, a producer and actor who will be seen as the villain in Gautham Menon and Dhanush’s upcoming movie. The hero who will reprise Vijay Deverakonda’s role is yet to be finalised.

A few days ago, Shirish tweeted, “My family, proudly posing at the top of the Grand Canyon, after throwing me into it. No idea of time here. But an over-excited user on social media asked Shirish Kunder, “Your Kids Hindus or Muslims ?”.
